Disaster Readiness

Good Morning All:

Since Katrina some on the board have mentioned getting prepared for an emergency/disaster, so I thought I would provide a couple of links that I have found useful post 9/11 in building my own emergency kit and plans.

Also, my local chapter of the Red Cross provides a free, six week Disaster Preparedness training course. After the course I'll be placed on a local team and perhaps be called on to aid in a community disaster. At the very least I'll have the knowledge to help my own family and friends hopefully! If anyone is interested I suggest contacting your local Red Cross.

HTH!

Thanks, Sparrow--

This has really been on my and my husband's minds lately. We've really been struck by the fact that he and I bear the primary responsibility for our family's protection, health, and well being.

We believe this anyway in general, but we have not really applied this philosophy to disaster prepardness. It's not something one really thinks about in Portland, Oregon. But they say that we could at some point experience a massive earthquake, so....

Thanks for the links. We need help in forming a plan.

Maggie:)
