Diet Plans/Slimming down.

Does anyone follow any specific diet plans other than the WW's? Just curious. I keep seeing the ediets and know shape has thier own diet plan. I'm really struggling dropping the weight, just curious as to what everyone else does.

For what it's worth..I try to eat like the fitness models, six times a day at least. Never go more than 3.5 hours without eating something, preferably a mix of carbs and protien with a little good fat. I also try to get at least 100 gms protein a day (for me, a little more might be good but it's hard to do and not go over calorie wise) and stick to the calorie amounts recommended daily for fat loss for someone my size. I try to make the calorie count average out for the week, somedays I eat more, somedays less.
Can't say that will work for you but it works for lots of people.

That's the question I've been wondering about myself...

Everyone says they eat clean...It's that simple...But for me I can't figure out how to eat clean and not be very, very hungry at the end of the day...

I am a former WW participant. That's another long, long story that I'll spare you.

I tried ishape, and it's so-so for the recipes and selection. Right now, well as of yesterday, I signed up with E-diets and it gives me more of a selection and my kids haven't noticed the difference. I pick the meals for my household. They base the calories and meals on my weight and height and age ect. I don't have to buy anything I normally wouldn't have around or wouldn't like. It breaks down and counts calories for you. They even have a substitution list you can print and have avaiable. It even compiles a shopping list for you when you're done choosing your meals. You can print our daily menus or weekly menus...

It's kind of nice. I like it, and I think I'll stick with it for awhile to see. If you decide to try it or just want to exchange thoughts and recipes I'm here and would love to keep in touch...

Thanks ladies,

I really need to figure something out but I hate to waste the money on something I won't do. I will keep investigating.

Carrie do you find Ediets to be expensive? Do you interchange between plans or use the same one? I did thier profile and says 1200-1300 to lose 10lbs it just seems like that is starvation to me.

I don't have a printer for my computer although I could access one. I think if I had something to follow I might do okay. I don't need exercise plans as I have Cathe and Aquajocks rotations to follow.

Hi Jenn,

Ediets is about $14 a month. I am currently at 1500-1600 cal. They figure out how to make the meals as filling as possible without the calories. That is what I love about it so far. The portions are big, but the calories are small. There are live nutritionist on-call if you have any concerns about the calories being too small so you won't be hungry. Right now, I'm in the ediets secion of the menu plans, because it fits my tastes and my families. But there are different ones, such as the glycemic index. I also like it so far because it lays everything out for me and it's easy to follow, user-friendly...I also don't use their exercise plan, as I have Cathe too:) I could copy and paste a sample menu from my plan so you could take a look at it more closely if you'd like...Just pm me or I can pm you...Just let me know...

Jenn,

I love Body for Life. It's kind of like how Paula described her eating. You eat six small meals a day with a portion of carbs (the size of your fist), portion of protein (palm of your hand) and try to have a vegetable with at least two of your meals. You can take one cheat day a week if you want (which I do b/c it helps me stay on track knowing that I can have something I'm craving if I want). It just helps me to be on a plan rather than to just say I'm going to try to eat clean and not eat junk at work or whatever. Also, people know I'm on BFL and they don't even try to tempt me with junk. I usually take a break from it in the summer but I go back on it in October or so. It really helps to have a "plan" during the holidays - and I probably take a couple more cheat days during the holidays, but not many.

You can probably get the Body for Life book (by Bill Phillips) at your library or I know you can get it used online for cheap - like at Amazon or Overstock or something. You can also go to their website at www.bodyforlife.com.

Good luck with whatever you decide!

I am reading Eat to Live by Dr Joel Fuhrman right now. I really like what he has to say. He explains why eating junk makes you crave more junk and why the other foods are so good for you. He gives yummy recipes, too. I am in my first week of his plan and I'm down about 4 pounds (not impressive when you see what I was eating last week!!)

I can also recommend www.sparkpeople.com

It is free and will put you on a plan and you can track your food. You don't have to follow their plan. You can just log in your own food that you eat. I like it because they have brand names, so you have a better idea of how many calories you are actually consuming when you are honest!! I thought that I was at 1500 calories and I was at about 3000!

Good luck!

Just started "Cinch" 10 days ago - geared to reduce inches by providing the body with enough leucine to preserve muscle. Gonna give it a solid month (till the end of September) and then share my results. This is the last thing I'm trying. I've done 'em all - BFL, BFLFW, Abs Diet, David Kirsch, Atkins, Eat to Live, BFFM, South Beach, Bob Greene - I've read 'em all and tried 'em all. It gets exhausting. More about Cinch at the end of my first month. Good luck in your quest - it's not easy to figure out what works for you.

Gotta put in my two cents here and say that Body for Life has been a life saver for me. I've been doing it consistently for nearly 3 years and I don't even consider it a "diet" anymore. It is truly my way of life. If you do a search under my user name, you'll see all my BFL posts. Good luck to you with whatever you choose. Remember though, it needs to be a lifestyle...not a DIET.
