Did Slumdog deserve best picture??

OMG, who cannot watch Titanic and not shed a tear or two? I bawl like a little ole' baby everytime I watch the old couple holding onto each other laying on the bed as the ship is sinking, I mean, I thought it was so beautiful..I hate it when you are not "cool" unless you speak French and "understand" a certain movie and well...sorry, not into the intellectual snobbery AT ALL.;)

Hmmmm, I speak/teach French and don't care for Titanic, so is your comment aimed at me or am I being paranoid? I REALLY don't think I'm cool (quite the contrary) and I also dislike all kinds of snobbery. I enjoy/dislike all kinds of movies (not based on their "cool factor"), and don't judge people based on their taste in movies, music, etc.

Whateves. You totally judge people. All the time. Remember how you judged me for liking Saved By The Bell? And Hole in the Wall? What's wrong with Hole in the Wall?

:)

OMG! How could anyone not like Saved by the Bell? That was a fave of mine. I still watch re-runs in the mornings while eating breakfast! I was in love with Zack Morris.

I could watch that 24/7.

OMG that is NOT true! And, can I just say that I find it hilarious that you don't post for MONTHS but make a reappearance to defend SBTB and HITW on a totally unrelated thread? Who's the maniac now? Who? ;)

"Hole in the Wall" is a game show (imported from Japan) where contestants jump though a hole in the wall. It's....um....DUMB! And well, pretty entertaining too for like 10 minutes. Don't worry, you really aren't missing out! :)

Here's a link to the show if you're still curious: http://www.fox.com/fod/play.php?sh=holeinthewall

Amy

LOL! Who can pass up a Japanese game show!! Takeshi's Castle, anyone?? :D

ABC picked up the concept with Wipe Out...which DH and I watch when we've run out of foreign language flicks. ;)

Yes, I am indeed a maniac. Got a problem with that?
So uh, Slumdog anyone? Anyone?

:)

HATED Titanic. Schlocky, horrible, pretentious, ugh. But I generally hate those types of movies anyway. I don't frequently watch the entire Oscars, but I used to watch exclusively to find out what the Foreign films nominated were, so I could rush out and get them. I find foreign films so much better than 90% of the crap Hollywood puts out (Blart Mall Cop? really?) The Brits and the Aussies put out hysterical movies and I love their sarcastic and ironic sense of humor. I'm not into slapstick or juvenile. I will admit to liking most Meg Ryan movies for lite viewing. I just like to see the world from different view points and I don't think there is anything snobby about that. More people should try it. I've heard fantastic things about Slumdog and am thrilled that something other that the big-budget super-star stuff won. I can't wait to see it - I love much about the Indian culture, and it looks fantastically shot, so I'm sure I will really enjoy it.

My brother loved that show (saved by the bell) and he was in his 20's at the time. He wanted to be as cool as Zack-lol.

I have to admit I liked it to.
I even love Drake and Josh......shhh don't tell anyone.;)

chrissy

Wow- this seems to be way off topic!!

Okay I have a funny story about Titanic. My daughter when she was in 5th grade loved the movie so much she knew ALL the words. We couldn't figure out how she did it but then she told us she would come home from school and put the video set to sub titles and memorize it. She had all the Kate/Leonardo scenes down pat!!
