Did Cathe Step Aerobics for the first time!

Hi -

I used to do the Firm quite a bit. So, I have never actually done a true step video (or class). I bought Cathe's Pure Strength a few months ago and really like it. Today, I just did the Timesaver 1 workout. I really like it. I hope I can figure out all the moves - it looks like so much fun. I also bought the rest of the Body Blast as well. But I'm thinking that for now, I'll just stick to the Timesavers until I can figure all the moves out. Any advice? Also - I haven't really exercised in about two months (been bad!). I didn't realize how out of shape I have gotten!

My advice is give yourself a few times to get the moves down. Sometimes it take doing the workout 3 or 4 times or sometimes more. But each time you'll get better. So don't get frustrated if you don't get it right away. I have all of Cathe's tapes and if you end up buying some of the older ones you'll see she reuses moves...so the longer you workout with her the easier it is to pick up the choreography. She does always add new innovative moves but also uses a lot of old familiar ones (which I like!) :) :) Good luck and have fun!

I agree with everything Runcrazy said. I also used the Firm, but now they seem so easy compared to Cathe. Timesaver is a good one to start with. I'd do that awhile til you feel more comfortable. It all depends on what you like most, cardio or weights. The weight ones are probably a bit easier to understand than like Stepblast as it has some difficult moves. KPC is and awesome kickboxing workout. SJ&P is more like a circuit training workout but very fun indeed. Give it some time and you will be addicted like the rest of us...:)...Carole

Hi Shellnc, I used to do only Firm workouts also. Then I found Cathe's PS videos at the library. Loved them! So, I bought the Body Blast Series and borrowed a few of her older tapes from other libraries. I borrowed "How to get in Shape for Your Wedding" and "Step Heat" from the forums' recommendations for Cathe step beginners.
At first the step choreography was difficult, because I was afraid I was going to trip on the step (first time using a step, besides The Firms Super Cardio Mix). I even gave up after 15 minutes out of frustration. But after a few nights lying in bed thinking of how disappointed I was in myself for giving up so easily, it dawned on me to NOT use the step the first time through. It's been a Cathe happy- ever after story since then. Yeah! :7
In my opinion, I think Step Blast would be tough for starting out, so hang in there. Have you thought about buying her soon to be released DVD's at the pre-sale price for step beginners?
Once you get the hang of Cathe, I am sure your Firm tapes will be dust collectors! Good luck and have fun!

Hi! WELCOME! Be patient & give yourself some more time to become familiar with the moves. They will come eventually. I am the biggest choreo klutz when it comes to step but once you get the moves down, it is sooo much fun. If you can afford it, I would suggest you get The "Wedding" tape and also "MegaStepBlast" as they might seem a bit easier choreo wise. (I forget which workouts are in the Timesaver #1) I have also heard of gals here using the slow mode feature to work on complicated steps if this is an option for you. Good Luck and keep us posted on how you are doing.
