Did anyone watch Martha this morning?

On Martha, Melissa Etheridge mentioned her new way of eating such that she tries to eat more alkaline producing foods, to balance with most of the acid producing foods. Does any one know about that?

Another thing I found interesting that they mentioned was taking a tbsp. of apple cider vinegar daily as preventative medicine.

I'm especially aware of my diet when I get sick, and I have had an achey body since Monday and a sore throat since Tuesday. (Am going to see a doctor today - hope it's not strep throat!) Not feeling well makes me want to eat healthier so my body can defend itself better (or perhaps make me less susceptible in the first place).

Any input? Thanks!
 
I didn't see Martha today so I have nothing truly useful to add to this thread LOL...

I just wanted to say that I am a huge fan of Melissa's and was so sad to hear that she was sick. I'm glad she seems to be doing okay now though.

Also, when I am sick, I am the opposite of you, Emy. I head straight for the junk in the fridge! When I don't feel well I don't have the energy to care about what I eat. I just grab whatever looks good and it's undoubetdly the BAD stuff!:p }( :9
 
Some non-traditional medical practitioners claim that you cannot get ill if your body is in an alkaline state.

Some things that make the body acidic:
processed foods
animal protein(because there are more sulfur containing amino acids in animal products than in plants)

Some things that make the body alkaline:
Veggies, citrus fruits
