On MSN they had a small article about a man here in Florida who was taking his 14 pound dog (Jake) to swim at a marina. A 5 ft shark grabbed the dog (almost the whole dog) and the guy (a carpenter) jumped in head first and started pounding on the shark until it let the dog go. The dog is ok but had some bite marks obviously.

Now, I know what some would say...."it's just a DOG. It's not worth a human life!" But GOOD FOR THAT GUY!!!!!! We take one of our doxies on the boat with us and I'd do the same thing in a HEARTBEAT!!!!! It wouldn't matter what it was. There was also a similar story awhile back about an alligator that grabbed a woman's dog while they were out walking. The dog managed to get free but was hurt so badly it died. However, she kept 2 alligators away from it until help got there.

I will do whatever necessary to protect my babies!!!!!

I agree!!! I read that and was envisioning myself doing that for my dogs... and more! If anything ever threatens my "kids"... watch out!!!

Good for that guy, though... goes to show what love will make you do... including punching a shark in the nose!

Good for him!

I saw a video on Animal Planet the other day where a tourist jumped in a moat to save a chimp who was drowning (chimps don't have fat the way humans do, so they sink like a rock). He didn't hesitate a minute, and was working hard to keep the animal's head above water. He was able to lug him back to shore by the other chimps, and high-tail it out before they got nasty on him.
