Did any one start out

with the Firm? I did and now I don't find the work outs challenging at all. That's why I moved onto Cathe work outs. Now I must give credit where it is do but the Firm just no longer does it for me. It's Cathe all the way. :)

Me too! But I sold all my Firm stuff on ebay a while ago to buy more Cathe stuff:)
I'm glad I finally tried Cathe, because I had totally stalled on The Firm.

That's a good idea, but I would have no way of knowing how to sell my Firm work outs on Ebay. I'd probably end up getting ripped off or something. There are a few that I would keep but not many. I want more Cathe work outs. Dang it.

i'd recommend selling them on ebay too...just get an idea of how much those specific workouts sell for before you put a reserve price on them...all you have to do is go to the website and find out how much recent workouts sold for and how much they are currently selling for.:) also, get an idea of how much others charge for p&p, set up a paypal account and there you have it:)

Yes, I was actively using The Firm Crosstrainers before Cathe. I still have the original Firm Fanny Lifter (made with wood). Since Cathe, I bought a topper from her for my original Step bench and life has gotten better.
Once you start with Cathe, it's hard to go back to anyone else.

Jennie, you already know how I feel ;-) I say wait until January to sell your Firm stuff when everyone and their mother wants to buy workout stuff :) You'll probably have better luck selling it that way! Ebay is ok, but Craigslist is good, too (plus no fees) as is the Amazon marketplace. Just some ideas for ya. I sold a bunch of my old Firms, held onto just my favorites, but honestly I haven't picked them up in about 6 months or so now. I'm a Cathe girl at heart (with the occasional other instructor thrown in for good measure).

Carol

Yes, I did the Firm for years. My father worked for Goodtimes and he sent me every product as it came out. I still have a bunch of videos, but I rarely do them. They aren't that challenging anymore.

Yup, Former Firmie here. "Back in the day" those ladies--Sandahl Bergman, Jayne Poteet, Susan Harris, Pam Cauthen, et al.--got me into the whole weights & aerobics thing, and for that I am thankful. I still have most of my tapes (gave some to one of my sisters), but the only ones I would use now are the older ones--and I haven't used any of those in a while. I think their newer workouts are not nearly as good as their earlier ones--step moves are too fast, not enough reps on the weight lifting, and a little to "glitzy" over all. Like the rest of you, I turned to Cathe and found her to be so much more professional and her workouts well thought out and well choreographed. The Firm or Cathe? No contest.

I didn't start out with the Firm (I started with Cher, Kathy Smith and several other workouts) but I did use the Firm before I got Cathe's workouts. I still think the Firms that came after Tortoise/Hare and before the Goodtimes Firms are still good workouts, but the more recent Firm workouts aren't as challenging as those, and none of the Firms really offers much cardio.

I do like my Firms, and I won't be getting rid of the ones from that period, because (until B&G at least!) they offer some of the best butt results of any workouts I've tried. I doubt, though, that I'll be getting any more Firm workouts, because they now are becoming 'gadget' workouts, sold only with some piece of equipment (with workouts that look too short and not very intense).

One thing I like about the Firm is that you get a lot done in a short period, and they are good for days when I have a short attention span because they are made of short segments linked together. They also use 'four-limbed' moves for intensity,, which is a nice change from impact aerobics. I think Cathe and the FIrm (at least when the Firm was in its prime) compliment each other really well.

I started out with the Firm. I traded a lot of my Firms for Cathe's when I first discovered Cathe. I kept a few and I've tried to go back to them, but I do not enjoy the music and they are so dates. I won't let go of them though, in case I need them one day. I would love it if the Firm would update the classics...pretty much the same workouts, just update the set, clothes, and music...that would be fabulous, oh, and allow the instructors to not be so scripted. I quit getting results witht he Firm because, with four limbed movement, you can only go so heavy and they all got to easy for me. I tired one a while ago to see if it would be challenging now that it had been a really long time since doing one but I was bored stiff. I also didn't feel like I was getting a good workout.

Angela, I feel bored when I do a Firm work out to. I guess I've gotten so use to Cathe and her toughness that the Firm just doesn't compare.

I did UCB the other day and that didn't feel as challenging as it use to be. That's when I knew I needed to stick with Cathe.

Hi Carol, I figured I'd run into you over here. Good idea on waiting until after Christmas to sell my Firm tapes. :) I could try selling them on the Firm BB. I'm sure the PTB would just love that. :p

I started with the Firm too and can't bear to part with my Volume 1 tape, although I doubt I'll ever actually use it again. I guess it's just a sentimental thing.

Well, I must be the "lone ranger" here. I still do a lot of firm workouts. I have recently been collecting Cathe dvd's. I have been doing at least one to two Cathe's a week, but I am going slower with her cardio workouts. I have mastered Basic Step and am almost good to go with Low Impact Step. I have Cardio Hits and the Classics Vol.1 but I am not doing those quite yet! I did Muscle Max today and I have to admit because I lifted heavier than I usually do with the Firm it kicked my butt!!! It was great! I do wonder if one day soon I will be outgrowing my Firm workouts?!

Sherry

Sherry, I'm sure there's nothing wrong with the more recent Firm workouts, I just don't trust Volume 1 anymore because it's so old. I'm just afraid it's not very safe and no longer state of the art. It's NOT because I think the Firm is too easy. I'm very into Jari Love these days, or else I might be buying the Firm workouts too. To be perfectly frank, Cathe is just a bit much for me lately.
Nancy

I started with the Firm workouts before Cathe. They aren't near as challenging. I rarely do one now but don't plan on selling any of them just yet.

Sherry, I found the more Cathe work outs I did the more I loved them. Then I found out that the Firms were getting to easy. So (and this is just my opinion) you might outgrow the Firm work outs. I know I sure did. But there's nothing wrong with still doing them if you still find them challenging.

I am a former "Firmie" as well. They are a great stepping stone to Cathe! Once I was into Cathe full on and knew the Firm wasn't working for me anymore I sold all of mine on Ebay as well. They are very popular and deserve to be. They put out great work outs!:)
