I normally just lurk....but I have to brag to someone. I really impressed myself and DH.

DH just runs on the treadmill. He can run forever but refuses to do any resistance training. He will watch me workout and ask why I bother.

Anyway, last night I walk by the workout room as he is finishing on the treadmill. I see him move my exercise ball and try to get into position to do a pushup with his legs on the ball. It was so funny his arms started shaking and as he tried to go down I thought he was going to break his nose. I giggled out loud and said that was cute. He said lets see you do better. OK, so I got down on the floor with my feet on the ball and started doing pushups. At 25 I happened to look up at him, his chin was on the floor. I stopped at 30 and said there. He made some excuse about being tired from his run. I know he was impressed....but I am sure he will never admit it.

Sorry to brag but I had to tell someone....Anyone else with stuborn husbands?

That's great!!!:D :D :D

My Dh would be the same way...is the same way. x(

Well shame on your hubby for saying "why bother"! My hubby would never dare utter those words to me. If he did, he would be very sorry cuz he would have to make his own dinner, etc. cuz why should "I bother"? My hubby is stubborn too. I have been trying like mad to get him to work his abs and do more cardio. He just has this routine of his he likes to do over and over again. He has in the past, snuck in a Cathe video and did workouts (lowmax, coremax 1, and SS) when I was not at home. I knew he was doing them cuz I would walk in around the end of it. He keeps saying what a "beast" a.k.a. "animal" Cathe is and I think he likes to be alone when working out to her videos. I think she scares him.

Actually Charlotte...you bring up a good point. My H thinks it's 'stupid' to work out to video/dvds. And I wonder if it's just a 'guy thing' because boys/men think they should be working out at the GYM and sweating with other guys, you know? My H will go to the gym and workout but he sees no value what-so-ever in working out at home?? Now what's the difference? I just bought a home gym and my H said he probably won't use it, he'll keep going to the gym. Whatever!

I have a little story I'll share here too. At Christmas we were with H's family and the girl grandchildren were doing gymnastics in the livingroom and the rest of us were sitting at the table talking. My one dd calls out that they're going to have a crab-walking race (that's getting into a bridge and then 'walking', this is something my old gymnastic's instructor used to have us do) so anyway, the girls are doing that and my H says to me...I bet you can't do that anymore. Well DUH, who does he think taught them to do it??? So I get in line with the kids and I even started from a standing position to give them a chance...but I'll tell you, at 40+ I can still beat em in the crab walk. So, then my one BIL is yelling, oh, that's easy I can do that...this coming from a man who has never done anything like that...so he gets down on the floor and he's trying to get into a bridge!! OMG! We laughed and laughed.

The next week my SIL sends me an email telling me that at the next family gathering there will be no gymnastics because her H couldn't go to work because he pulled/strained a muscle in his back trying to get into that bridge position. Didn't help he was half drunk at the time and thought he was superman.

Good for you!

I love it when people who say that your workouts are worthless are taken down a peg or two!

It's too bad that he can readily say that your weight training isn't showing any progress, but he can't admit that he's impressed with your abilities.

I love it!!! My DH was served a piece of humble pie one day when my personal trainer gave us a "2 for the price of one" work out. He quickly discovered that he could NOT lift as heavy as me. I think he was rather shocked by it.:D I must say though, that while he was slightly embarrassed, he was very encouraging towards me:+.
