DH and computer games

autumn

Well, my DH is a technology geek. You should see the gadgets he... oh let me correct that... the gadgets "we" have. ;-) So, DH purchases a new laptop for "work"... a "business" purchase. This sounds reasonable since he works from home and is starting his own business. :D Guess what?????? He can hook his laptop up to our big screen and play his Worlds of Warcraft!!!!! ;( ;( x( He shares this with me as if he won the Powerball (I think he has taken up a permanent residence in his alternate universe :)!!

Psssttt... I have to admit it does look pretty cool on the big screen. Shhhhhh! :D

Anyway, I knew some of you would understand my lack of excitement.

Thanks for the heads up, Autumn. I'll have to make sure I NEVER mention this to my SO, or I'll be treated to a big screen in the living room with neverending Everquest.x(

Be very, very careful of "business" purchases. :) LOL! I have my soaps on so he can't play it now. Besides, he is working so he can't play. Oh, but if I disappear briefly in the evening and return... he has that game on the TV.

My DH used to play Everquest. Boys and their toys.

Oh boy - your DH and my DH would be wonderful friends. My DH is the biggest geek ever (he's an electrical engineer, for starters). He has 3 computers at home (that's down from 5 - so I'm thankful). One of them IS hooked to the big screen (permanently) - our 50" widescreen flat panel HDTV with Dolby 5.1 surround sound (someday to be upgraded to Dolby 6.1). Warcraft is one of his favorite games. Also, just about any game involving shooting at other people (he calls them "killing games" - how sick and twisted is that?). The computer that is hooked to our big tv is used for storing movies off of rented DVDs (shame on DH!) and playing them back. He also hacked our Tivo unit so we can record shows without paying the monthly Tivo fee. Yeah, he's a HUGE geek.

Why Haydee, THANK YOU!!!!! That baby is me. :) I have been going through my mother's things, and this was her favorite picture of me as a babe. I remembered the challenge to post pics... any picture... so I thought I'd share this one. :)

Oh Emily, our DHs must NEVER meet!!!!!! Oh my, what if they have already met in WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! We are back up to 5 computers... 3 Macs now. He claims he is converting me to the Mac. LOL! Glad to know I am not alone.

you guys with your addicted husbands think you got it bad...mine goes online with roadrunner and races other people online across the country talking to them WITH HEADPHONES! I have to basically pry his hand off the dohicky thing after about 3 hours or sox(

Mine just likes to conquer the world and he would be happy. It's a Civilization addiction. I have found him on the computer until 3am happily playing still. He plays for hours.

DH has 2 PCs and 1 Mac, and I have a Mac - so that's 4 computers total. (5 if you count the PC that's in pieces on the floor of the office) But he wants to convert our movie-storage computer to a Mac Mini, so then it will be 3 Macs in the house.

I actually prefer Mac over PC - it's much more stable and so much easier to use. So, converting to Mac really wouldn't be a bad thing for you. Trust me! :D The only reason we have any PCs at home is for the games that aren't available on Mac. ;)

I think we're all safe with our own obsessions- at least we can say weights/steps/DVDs cost less than computers! LOL

I read this thread right after reading about what equipment each of us has for working out.

Well remember we do things that leaves them out or takes up the living room like working out. So can't be too bad if they are just leaving us out of a computer game and staying home with us. :)

But have you ever thought of playing the game with him for some quality time? I'm seeing more and more wives get involved in gaming so they have something else to share with their husbands. I have to admit, it's pretty cool to see a husband and wife gaming team, as they work with each other to win points etc.

And for those of you wondering, my BF got me into gaming with him. We now buy two of the same game, I install it on my computer he installs it on his, and then we either play together or against. Both are a blast, thought you do have to be a bit careful against your guy. They get a little upset when you kill them two or three times in a row. But one thing I can say is that it's brought us a lot closer, I'm not just walking into the other room and kind of shaking my head, as he sits there happily and beats on the keyboard, and then I turn around and go off to do something else as it is impossible to get him away from that thing once he starts for an hour or more.

Now it's turned into our relax time together. I never knew how relaxing and stress releasing a computer game can be, until I put the face of my boss on a troll and kill him over and over. I felt soo much better after a very hard day at work, that it finally showed me why he place those games. But also on game servers like Everquest, or World of War craft, it has a lot to do with talking to people and just having fun. No gaming really involved, just a good time with friends. Well the game is open, just dosen't mean you're continiously playing it.

Good luck,

Kit

Oh, DH gaming is harmless. I just enjoy yanking his chain about it. :) There are so many things he could be doing that would not be good for our marrige.

I am not the gaming type. Just not my personality. It is in no way relaxing to me. He told me there are several couples in the guild, and that is great if they enjoy it.

I do get tired of seeing only the top of his head and knuckles though. He works on the computer... plays on the computer... he is on the computer for HOURS! I don't know how he can be on it sooooo long... I can't imagine coming home from the clinic and doing pap smears for relaxation. :)

Mine too! he is addicted to Guild Wars currently. But it's always some war game. He stays on there until 4 or 5 in the a.m some days playing these games. that only bugs me when he wakes me up cmoming to bed and then i can't go back to sleep. it is how he says he turns his brain off and relaxes. whatever. i just hate the sound effects. he won't use headphonesx( he says i am just as bad about this site though:+ he's right:7
