Desperately Seeking Fedoras

Hey, Gang!

The alopecia I wrote about in my "Wig vs. GI-Jane" thread continues apace, so I'm continuing to strategize about how, sartorially, to address the impending Cueball Look. I got approval from my division managing attorney to wear nice, understated hats as an alternative to my Raquel Welch Signature Collection wig (which DH has dubbed "Stanley The Squirrel") and the all-bare Sinead O'Connor look.

I WANT FEDORAS! AND I CAN'T FIND ANY!

PLEASE, if ANYONE knows of a shop especially one with a website that markets nice, smart professional women's fedoras (remember the gangster movies of the '40's?) please let me know! I've been on gobs of sites and haven't been able to find much at all!

Thanks!

Hi Annette.

I truly admire your courage -- and your great sense of humor -- about your hair loss. You're a champ whether you do a Faye Dunaway felt cloche or "Stanley the Squirrel"! (I love that -- and I love Raquel Welch wigs, too.)

Did you try a Google search for "vintage hats"? Seems to me "Mad Hatter" may have something. Look under "cloche hats", too. You should get some hits for small, close fitting 1930's type hats under "cloche".

Have fun shopping.

Hatless In Minneapolis
(but not for long)
:p

Sorry, no fedoras, but ginmiller.com has a cute cotton beret for sale, if you want to add a little variety to your look.

And how about a long scarf? With or without a fedora on top?

Come to New Orleans

We have about 6 stores in the French Quarter that actually sell brand-new hats in the style you describe. The store with the best selection is:

Fleur de Paris
712 Royal Street
New Orleans, LA 70116
Contact: Phone: 504-525-1899; Fax: 504-528-9483

I do not know if they have a website but they might send you some options via e-mail. Worth a try.

In my search for them, I found this website which had some stylish options as well: http://www.hatmonger.com/

Good luck!

RE: Michelle - New Orleans

For Pete's Sake! Why didn't I think of that?! My brother lives in New Orleans, and I've visited there once!

Thank you so much for the tip and the idea! BTW, have fun at Mardi Gras! My brother is already getting psyched for it!
