Depression/Lexapro

Hello. I know some of us share a problem of depression. My dr. is still trying to find the perfect one for me. I thought Effexor XR was wonderful except that I was tired all the time. Anyhow, he put me on Welbutrin XL 300 mg. and I found that I was moody again, etc. and I've been on it for a few months now. Feel like I went backwards instead of forward. When I visited him last week he said we would try doing the Welbturin XL in the a.m. and when I go to bed at night to take Lexapro 10 mg. I took it for the first time last night. I have been hesitent in trying it, because when I went to message boards, etc. to check it out, I didn't find one positive post. Does anybody else use lexapro here, and how do you feel it effects you?

Bless you Kim, I really feel for ya hun, I know its hard going thru trying to find the right anti-depressant. The lady I work for is mildly retarded, and has autistic tendancies, I hope I spelled those words right. She is on effexor xr 300 mg a day, and that maybe one thing that makes her sleepy too, but it seems to be the only thing right now that helps her, without it she is a mess.
I truely hope you find the right one soon, because I know only from seeing what my client went thru when we took her off of hers for a wk, as soon as it was out of her system she did nothing but cry, cry, cry........ love ya Kim and God bless.... Rhonda :7
 
Rhonda: Thanks for your post. Before I got on any meds at all, I was very, very depressed, cried at the drop of a hat (sad or happy tears), looked at things more negatively, had NO motivation whatsoever (though I would WANT to do things so bad....hope that makes sense. ie. workout), very edgy and unfocused. When I went on the Effexor XR, I felt brand new again. The ONLY complaint I had was that I was tired. I went from a person who couldn't sleep more than two hours at a time to someone who could sleep around the clock. As much as I hate to admit this, when I was on Effexor I actually missed a day of work one time because of my exhaustion. Anyhow, the Dr. decided to put me on Welbutrin XL 300 mg. I almost immediately got my energy back, but everything else went by the wayside. I might not be as bad as I was BEFORE going on any meds at all, but I am more emotional again, focus is not as good as it was, motivation is lower, etc. This last visit he was going to put me back on Effexor XR (per my request) but then decided to give me the lexapro at night. WHen I got home and started doing research, I almost said screw it, I'm not going to take this. But then I decided I better give it a whirl. I took my first dose last night. I sure hope this works!!! I want to find an even balance somewhere.

Hi Kim,

If only there were some kind of test you could take that could pinpoint which medicines would work!

I take a combo of Wellbutrin & Lexapro...about a year and a half now. I haven't had any side effects at all.

I've tried many meds, but 10mg Lexapro, 200mg Wellbutrin 2x/day has really worked for me. It's not a happy pill...I still have crappy days. Can't function without it, though, so for that, I am very grateful.
