This event actually happened a few months ago. We are now stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX. We heard of this when we were still in Fort Hood, TX. I think it is so great also. There is barely enough space on post for the families to stay with their loved ones here. When we first got down here, usually if you are going to be recieving on post housing, you can stay in the guest house on post. Well now it had to be turned into somewhat of a Fisher House because there is not enough room for the families in the regular Fisher House so the people moving here go to hotels off post. They really need more availability here especially since BAMC has a renowned burn unit. These soldiers and their families really need help and it is great to know that someone is seeing that and responding. I understand that other countries have problems too but it seems these days that celebrities and others are spending more dollars in other countries while there are so many causes they can contribute to here. Just my 2 cents worth. I wish I was rich so I could help also.

I have always adored Denzel Washington. My FIL met him during the filming of "Remember the Titans" and says he is just as genuine and kind as he appears.

When I was at Seminary, one of my fellow seminarians on the way went to school with Denzel....I thought it was pretty cool! He is a cute guy!!! And he is a great role model. Annette

I think he's just a human being who believes that it was important to contribute something in this way and obviously he had the means to do so, still it was very kind of him to do so. Sometimes when people do generous acts they really do this because it's just something they want to do and are not concerned about the publicity and I have to add he is a minority, sometimes they don't get as much press. I think he appears to be a very nice man, I choose to think of these actors and actresses as just human, not to be put on any pedestals, just human beings who make either good decisions or bad decisions. That was a very good decision.

What's sad, though, is that this happens several *months* ago and we are just hearing about it now! It took, what, 2 days to hear about Mel Gibson?
