Deli meat

This may sound like a crazy question, but I know deli meats are full of nitrates, sodium, and preservatives. Is that just pre-packaged deli meats? Is it also in the meat they slice for you at the deli stand? I've stayed away from deli meat for years just for this reason, but I'd like to bring some slice chicken with my lunch for a change. Any insight?

Hi Susan,

yes, the stuff at the deli has all that stuff in as well. Although you might be able to find place (e. g. Central Market), who sell MSG free ham and turkey and also make their own turkey and roast beef without all the preservatives.
Hope that helps.

Maybe instead of getting sliced chicken from the deli, you could roast a chicken on Sunday and eat the meat on your sandwiches during the week. Freeze what you're not going to get to eat within a few days.

Here's another idea, use some for your sandwiches and cut some up into chunks for your salad.

Mmmmmm....roast chicken....:9
