I think I'd call my style more clean/classic. Modern gets a little too funky and country....well....NO.

I replied as other because I have no clue what my "STYLE" would be considered! I didn't even know I had a STYLE when it came to decorating! LOL

I like country but I would not classify my house as that at all unless you consider my kitchen curtains which came from a place who's name eludes me right now but it has the word "COUNTRY" in it! LOL

I don't have a clue what primitive is, Charlotte???

And modern/deco...nah, I don't think thats me either.

I'm not good with this stuff! Can ya tell? :p

I just throw things together that I think look nice until I have a decorated room!!!:+

Wendy,

Primitive is the grunchy and grubby stuff that looks old like from the very early days. Candles, dolls, primitive stitchery (which is my favorite) and pillows, etc.

Charlotte~~

My decorating style isn't any of those. I'm quite eclectic. I have some very nice antique pieces (19th century Chinese wedding cabinet, black walnut Duncan Pfyffe table, etc.) and I mix them in with more modern pieces. Artwork is anything from tribal masks to Picasso to movie posters. I like earthy colours - sages, mustards (think fall leaf colours). I'm a decorating fanatic.

I have an electic mix too. Electic means that you have pieces from different eras that mix well together. It's not hodgepodge. Sometimes I feel my house is hodgepodge though! :) My kitchen is "tuscany", my living room is "tropical", my guest bath is "key west". I do have some of the same colors running through the house. Hopefully this gives a cohesive look. Lots of greens, terra cottas, and yellow.

I'm pretty eclectic but I do especially love French Country!

I like primitive but you really need to know what you're doing to pull that one off, lol! Charlotte, I would love to see some pics! (Not that I'm intimating you can't pull it off! You would give me that evil post office look! hehehehe)

Marie,

No evil looks here. LOL! I have a few dolls that are prims. One is Maddie Moonbeam who sits on my hubby's childhood dark green rocker to greet our guest. ;-) I have two other prim dolls. The other is Honey Child who I sit out in the familyroom, she is the beekeeper. Lastly, I have Ms. Raggedy Ann who I bring out at Christmas time to replace old Maddie who by the way has a moonbeam face. Creeps out my children especially when I light my grubby old candles around her and her face lights up staring at them. See, I move Maddie to the familyroom to replace Honey Child so when they watch TV they are creeped out. LOL! I have an old primitive Halloween stitchery that stays up on my wall all year long. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays mainly because I go beserk at decorating and love watching the old AMC movies.
Anyhow, my familyroom floor is hardwood, the diningroom and livingroom too. I love the wood look! My kitchen theme is coffee and tea and gingerbread men.

Charlotte~~

I like colonial American and I have a mix of 18th and early 19th century antiques and reproductions. I don't have much in the way of antique furniture, but I have some pretty blue and white porcelain and Imari. One of my prize possesions is a chalk drawing--pastel on sandpaper--of the Hudson River with a view of Westpoint in the background. I also have some antique needlework that I love. My favorite piece is an Ohio (my home) oil on velvet folk art portrait. I don't have much but I love what I have and I really enjoy the whole decorating thing. I wish my bank account would be a little more accomodating!!

TY Charlotte for explaining!

Your house sounds like it's decorated wonderfully with a lot of flare! You really should post pics for us to see! :7

Actually, maybe we should all post pics of the insides of our homes-one room atleast. It could be our favorite room! I think it might be fun!

I am kind of eclectic too. All of the rooms in my house are pretty different. I usually like to stick with transitional, contemporary and Asian decor. I LOVE decorating! I can sit and watch HGTV all day :p

Big fan of contemporary here. Before I was a SAHM, I was an interior designer. I miss buying furniture at cost!

Lori

I'm not sure what style I am. Our house is very open, which I love. We have a 2-story great room with skylights, and one wall has a 2-story stone fireplace with windows on both sides. That wall is a dark plum/eggplant color, and the rest of the room is a beige/khaki color.

The plum color on the fireplace wall is carried into the kitchen on the bottom half of the kitchen walls. We have a chair moulding all around the kitchen and the top part of the walls is a sage color (which I did a suede-type faux finish on).

We have hardwood floors through the kitchen, foyer and front hall.

Okay, sorry. Too much information. Maybe we SHOULD post pictures. LOL!

I love hearing about everyones style, good topic choice Charlotte. Marla your place sounds beautiful! I did my computer room in a faux suede, and I love love love it! Best painting results I have ever had!

Hmmm,
Classifying our home decorating style migh be difficult. I would have to call us primarily Arts and Crafts. We have Cherry Mission pieces from Stickly Audi & Co. in most of our home including our kitchen, family room and master bedroom. Our dinning and living room is Cherry too, but not Mission. We enjoy leather furniture and and have a couple of Ramon Santiago paintings which are special to us. (He is a native of our city)

I like cosy modern country. Not old but woody and comfortable.
I like modern but with the frills and flowers.
Anne

I think Mission style is lovely. It would be my next choice after colonial. I could go crazy with Tiffany--lamps and desk sets on a mission desk! Your home sounds beautiful.

My house is a tidewater saltbox and I lean toward colonial decorating, but I don't do antiques. I'm very (very) ignorant on the topic and am afraid of being taken. I like brand new reproductions. I have a fair amount of Pennsylvania House furniture, which I wouln't buy now, because the company was bought and raped by a large greedy corporation that put alot of people out of work. (Didn't know this was going to downgrade into a rant, did ya?)

I've stenciled some of my rooms and like the look of tab curtains and braided rugs on hardwood floors. One of the nicest things about my house is the large fireplace in the livingroom. We also have a fireplace in the master bedroom upstairs, which is very romantic. I have a small collection of redware on display in my family room. Again, it's new, not antique, but in this case, it's because I'm too cheap to pay for the originals.
