December Jogglers

Lol, do we have another December thread? I was out of town and got lost in the calendar.

So, I am exercising. Just low impact low intensity. I had some chiropractic care last Friday and it takes a minute to get used to it.

Tricia which of the new workouts will you try first?

Jane I saw your picture with your sister at the race. You looked happy.

Hi! I'm sorry I have been missing in action. Last week I worked late a couple of nights and then we left for Memphis on Thursday morning. We had a great time. I loved the race. It's the biggest one I've been in so it was a different experience. Lots of spectators and cheering crowds around Beale Street and at the St. Jude Campus. The weather was chilly, cloudy and windy but at least it didn't rain. My hat blew off twice, that's how windy it was. My sister got a PR but I didn't but still have fun. I really don't care about my time as much as I used too. I just like racing and competing. I have another half marathon in February but I don't have to travel for this one and there won't be many spectators but at least it will be flat.

We got home Sunday and I was so sore from being in the car for 9 hours. I'm glad I took Monday off from work. I did an upper body kettlebell workout. My hamstrings are still a bit sore but otherwise I feel good. I took a rest day today.

Alisha ~ I'm glad to hear you are exercising. What else is going on in your neck of the woods?

Tricia ~ I hope you enjoy the new workouts.

Took a couple days off for a training seminar, I am preparing for an exam I plan to take next October.

I will exercise tomorrow. It has been pouring down rain for days. Now, it's just foggy and our idea of cold, in the forties.

Jane I am so glad you had a good time at your race.

Tricia I know you are working out, I have seen your posts on FB.

Hi ladies!

Sorry about being MIA for so long!

Alisha - Glad you're getting some workouts in! I saw that you were getting lots of rain out your way. I think Ply HIIT 1 is the first one on our rotation for tomorrow.

Jane - Congrats to you and your sister on a great race! Glad it was better weather for it this year!

I have been keeping up with my workouts this month! Yay! Getting ready to start the new ones tomorrow. Can't wait! We ordered a Dyson vacuum the day after Thanksgiving. It took them almost 2 weeks before they shipped. It finally arrived today and I assembled it and put it to great use!

I have been working on wine lately. Racked a Viognier last Thursday and put a Malbec up for secondary fermentation. I should have been doing this a while back as I am about out of wine that's ready for drinking! lol

Are you two finished Christmas shopping yet? I have to go out for a couple of things and to find stocking stuffers and that's it. I will probably do that after work Thursday. I was off today. I work 4 days, then I'm off for 10. I'm so looking forward to it even though I was just off for a week at Thanksgiving!

Have a great week!

I'm here. I was sick last week so I didn't workout that much. I walked 6 miles on Sunday and then took down a very large bush by sawing off the limbs. Monday I did a workout with swings, push ups, med ball presses, jump squats and sit ups. Tonight was a rest day.

Alisha ~ My idea of cold is in the 50's. It's been in the 70's here the last couple of days. I'm loving it.

Tricia ~ Good job on your workouts. We don't really exchange presents so I mainly do charity stuff. I'm done with Christmas except for baking some cookies and doing Christmas cards.

Tricia I haven't done a whole lot of Christmas shopping. We bought our Christmas presents early and then we open them LOL!

Jane I'm sorry that you were sick last week. I hope you're feeling better.

I did the do the chores work out. That included lots of laundry, turning around my bed, and putting away lots more laundry. It's amazing how big Mt. Saint Laundry can get. I hope to workout tomorrow.

Hi ladies!

Jane - I love that you do charity work and bake! Baking is a wonderful way to give gifts people will love because it's home made! I hope you are feeling better. Being sick really stinks!

Alisha - Too funny that you bought presents and already opened them! I just wrapped most of Stephen's. I'm still waiting on one to come in. They are all small and fit in his stocking. (The stockings are big though!) I so the chores workout! Laundry in my house involves going up and down stairs several times to tend to it and then up two flights to get them from the basement to the bedroom!

I finally got my Dyson Animal vacuum. I love it! It may inspire me to do more housework . . . nah! lol

Getting together tomorrow night with my golf friends for holiday drinks. So far, I love Ripped With Hiit! The plyo workouts are hard! She really moves from one exercise to the next. The "rest" breaks aren't typically long and it's all about putting the intensity into the moves. The moves aren't complicated, so you really have to focus on your form and effort!

One more day of work, then I'm off until Dec. 30th! Can't wait! No alarms and I can sleep in!

Still struggling with food, but at least I'm moving! One down, one to go! lol

Take care and have a great day tomorrow!

Hi!

I have been working out. Wednesday was a run, Thursday was a workout with kettlebells and Friday was a running workout.

We made our last batch of cookies today and my Christmas cards are mailed so I'm done.

What are you guys doing for the holidays? I will be off from Christmas Eve until Monday the 29th. Then we are off on the 1st and 2nd of January. My sister are I are sleeping at mom's house Xmas Eve and then just spending Christmas there. It will be very low key as there will just be the 4 of us. It will be food, puzzles, card games and more food.

I'm spending part of Christmas Eve cleaning and then on The 26th my sister and I are cleaning 2 rooms in the house from top to bottom.

Alisha ~ I like opening presents early! We celebrate St. Nicholas Day on December 6th and open presents then.

Tricia ~ Don't worry about food this time of year. Just keeping working out. Enjoy your time off.

Happy Monday, Christmas Eve's Eve's Eve . . . or something like that!

Jane - What a great Christmas!

We will have a really quiet one too - as usual for us. I'm cooking a goose (tradition) with the usual sides and making a raw vegan English Truffle for dessert. It's just stockings for us this year. We both got some big gifts earlier this year, so we're keeping it small.

I haven't gotten a workout in in a few days. Picking back up tomorrow. I was supposed to do one today, but I slept in way too late and took a couple of hours to help Stephen grade exams. He's still at it, doing the hard part. I, then went to the grocery for the few things I still needed to pick up. That was crazy! Traffic was bad too. I wasn't going to go out again, but my eye doctor's office called and m new glasses are ready, so I'll go pick those up tomorrow. Luckily, their office is just up the road from the house, then I may swing into Whole Foods for a few little extras if I feel like it. It's really close to the house too. We shall see!

Hi Alisha! Hope You are having a low-key pre-Christmas week!

I'm on my first day of vacation and don't go back until the 30th! Trying to really just enjoy it!

Took the day off, had to do some shopping. I got my Dad a microwave popper. I got my Mom some second hand holiday pins, she loves those, and a Dilbert book for my brother. I also bought a small chicken, and I plan to make a pasta side dish. I also have a gingerbread mix to prepare for breakfast. I will decorate the tree tomorrow morning. We don't have any little ones, so it is ok. I may get some exercise tomorrow morning. I had a 6 inch tuna sub at Subway for breakfast (not bad), that helped power me through the shopping and then I bumped up the greens with a green juice from Trader Joe's for lunch. I picked up some really pretty gift bags at the dollar store and a pointsettia for my Mom. She loves those. Luckily, my cat is not interested in those. If I had a dog I would not buy one at all, they are poisonous.

Tricia a Christmas goose sounds delicious. Here I could shoot at the lake just up the street. Its called Bass Lake, but it should be called Canadian Goose lake considering how many love it here.

Jane I saw the Christmas cookie pictures on FB.

Hi Alisha!

Sounds like you made it through the Christmas holiday quite well! Hope Santa was good to you!

We had rain all week and it was 63 degrees last night when we went to mass! I didn't even need a coat!

I got a VivoSmart! Connects with my Garmin account and the HR strap from my Garmin too! I love it already! Stephen got me a new golf glove and a couple of golf shirts too. We had a pretty small Christmas, but it was great! Got things I needed and I got him some sweets, a few Portal (video game) goodies and a few new XBox games to destress with. The goose came out fantastic! Every year I have to google instructions and every year I don't save them. Found a great one and saved it this time! lol

Talked to my mom. She's doing okay. She knows she as 3 children and that I'm the oldest of the girls. Joseph had to tell her my name though. She doesn't seem to be able to talk about things in detail. She sounded good though. I hate that this is happening to her.

Also talked to my dad today. He's still sharp and doing pretty well. Having trouble with his right knee, but other than that, healthy as a horse.

That's about it for us. Nice and low key.

Hope you two had a wonderful Christmas!

I hope you guys had a great Christmas.

I did not workout on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. Christmas was nice. Very low-key...food, games, reading and relaxing. Friday I cleaned the house, rearranged stuff and got rid of lots of junk. We made 2 trips to Goodwill and one to the dump. I love getting rid of stuff. I took a 3 mile walk on Friday afternoon. I wanted to run but my back was hurting me due to all the stuff we did during the day.

Saturday I did the following workout:
100 rope slams
100 lateral jumps
100 swings
100 sit ups
100 weighted step ups 50R/50L
100 side kicks 50R/50L

Today was a 8 mile run. It is in the 70's here although my backyard is still drying out from the 8 inches of rain we had last week.

Alisha ~ I hope you had a great Christmas!

Tricia ~ Sounds like you got some nice stuff. Sending prayers to you and your mom. I'm glad your dad is doing good.

I go back to work tomorrow but only for 3 days. We are off Thursday and Friday. I am going to enjoy it as this company counts holiday as PTO time and I have not even started accruing PTO. I don't start that until February so I am already 56 hours in the negative. I won't get any vacation until the summer. It's the only downside of my new job.

It has been sunny and clear, in the 50s. Christmas was low key. Me, Mom, Dad, and my older brother. I made the Christmas this year because my Mom has been dealing with vertigo intermittently and that can lead to falls. Our PT/chiropractor told Mom she wasn't allowed in the garage after the last fall face first into the kitty litter between two pieces of steel and the air hockey table. I baked cookies, bought the little Christmas tree, put decorations on it, bought presents for everybody (even myself lol). I got jewlry for my Mom at an antique shop and the library resale shop. I also picked up used books for everybody. I bought a popcorn maker for the microwave for my Dad. He loves snacks. But, doesn't have the patience to make popcorn on the stove, also this way we can go without the oil. I got a Dilbert book for my brother, he is a fan. I got a used book with lots of flowers in it for my Mom because she paints. And I bought a bunch of DVDs on fitnessdvds.com. The silly part is now some of them are now on sale, but at least the difference is only a few bucks. I'm thinking about picking up a few more pilattes or yoga type discs because you can't go wrong with those and they have a few on sale for 1.99$. I also bought my self a gigi wax warmer because I like to be smooth when the warm weather returns. Got that on Amazon on sale. I also picked up a few books at the dollar store for myself. I do love a good novel and a bargain.

I did 20 minutes of foam rolling. I really like that DVD. Its called Total Conditioning. I plan to spend the day doing a little data entry and studying.

Tricia your presents sound like fun. I'm sorry that your Mom is losing some of her memories and that she has to go through this. Hugs.

Jane I am glad you enjoyed your Christmas. I love clearing out stuff too! That reminds me I could stop at the Goodwilll with a pair of boots that hurt my feet!

Jane - You had a productive week! Glad you had a nice Christmas. Your weather sounds wonderful! We were warm for the season, but rainy. Now, we are getting colder.

Stinks that you have to use vacation time for your holiday! That is a big negative with starting a new job.

Alisha - What a wonderful Christmas! Nothing wrong with good deals!

I'm sick. Battled the tiniest bit of a sore throat last week. Thought it had gone away and I would be fine, but I woke on Saturday morning with lots of sinus pressure and congestion. I picked up some Claritin D and started it right away. Good thing I was off today! Just starting to feel a bit better and last night was the first night of decent sleep I've gotten since Friday night.

I go back to work tomorrow. We are only off on Thursday, but we get the day after Christmas, so that's okay. Besides, I take vacation time around the holiday, so I enjoy a nice, long span of time off! Of course, this year, it seems to have flown by awfully fast!

Take care and have a wonderful New Year's!

:)HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I got a haul from total fitness DVDs.com

Prevention Magazine: Better Belly yoga Desiree Bartlett
Dance it off with Jennifer Galardi
Drop it in 30 with Chris Freytag

Suzanne Deason " balance ball" including the upper body, abs, and lower body on 3 different discs

Jenny Ford's step-by-step III, toning with weights, Hi low cardio II, abs and core
And another Jenny Ford disc called spicy step and it also included step-by-step and a Hi low cardio workout

10 minute solution five-day get fit mix

Kathy Kaehler basics workout class

I also got a DVD from shape magazine called makeover your butt, hips and thighs it includes three workouts a cardio dance workout, a lower body workout which includes ballet Pilates and yoga, and a 12 minute segment that incorporates everything but in a short timeframe.
The instructors are Lisa Wheeler, and a couple of other instructors to.

Most of these workouts are lower intensity to help me recover from having been sick. However I think a few of them will be more challenging especially based up workouts. I really need to get back into strength training. I think that would help with my bone density and generally just feeling better.
