Good morning ladies..

Today I am feeling I need a GOOD workout. So, I have decided to do Body Max 2. There is a little of everything in that one and I always feel I got a really good tough workout in when I finish it...

Be back later..time to get everyone up and get breakfast going!

oooh, Kathy I wish I could do BM2. I still have a tickle in my throat! But I'm going to try again to do one of the new Shock workouts. I'm thinking Athletic Step but I'm going to have a GOOD breakfast to help me out with it. I'm also going to go in a little later today as I have fewer things to get done at work. I'll check in later with ya'll.

QUICKIE!! (really!) POST

Off I go to do the LAST Plyo Legs workout for Meso 3!!!

Hopefully I can sit down later, but I have to :

1. Do workout
2. Shower
3. Get quickie lunch for the boys
4. Go to walmart
5. Pick up Alex's friend to come play

And Alex wants his friend to come over ASAP!, A little pressure here from the boy...

BBL!

Hi all! I promise not to be so "verbose" today! ;)

My workout today was kind of a mish mosh. I've been reading about great results on VF with Jillian Michaels workouts, so I decided to take the shrink wrap off my copy of 30 Day Shred that I've had, for, oh, probably two years! I did Level 1 - I liked it. Then I did the cardio from the new Tracie Long DVD's - I think it's on the Back Up DVD - it was 20 minutes and really fun! So, not sure what I accomplished, but I was sweaty! I may try to do a Jillian rotatio with some other stuff thrown in, but we'll see. I seem to have a hard time sticking with anything.

I weighed myself this morning - yikes! Months of eating horribly have caught up with me. I'm vowing to cut out most sweets (just can't do none) starting today and getting more focused with workouts. Would love to lose 20 pounds by St. Patrick's Day. That's my goal - we'll see.

Chris, yea for last Plyo Legs!! Does that mean you're done with STS? I can't remember where the legs fall during the last meso. Caitlyn has a play date today, too. The mom called last night and Caitlyn was yelling "yes, yes, yes - I can come" into the phone. She was up and dressed at 7:00 am this morning. She's not going until 1:00. I guess life at home must be a bit boring! ;)

Kathy, Body Max 2 sounds like a good way to get in a tough workout!! Have fun!

Hottie, get better already!! Have you tried Athletic Step yet? I really like that one.

Hey Beth!

BBL, I'm sure....

Joanne

Good morning!! Kathy, hope you enjoyed BM2! Chris, whoo-hoo on STS! You're done, right? That's impressive. Honestly, I'm not sure I can get through all three mesos again...... Hottie, hope you enjoy AS -- let us know how it is -- and feel better, ok?! :)

Joanne, I've been reading those shred threads, too. I had a pm exchange with Sparrow about her results -- she swears by it, but she does all three in one workout -- I could only do that on a weekend day -- I don't remember if she does it more than once a week like that though -- I think she did it multiple days for a while. I'm not sure I want to keep going with STS -- maybe this week off will help me, but I'm just not sure. I may hop into something with more variety -- I think I'll see what Cathe's January rotation looks like -- may just do that!!

My workout -- I did the last legs of meso 1 -- boy, I did not like the bonus work with the stability ball! I couldn't do the hamstring rollins -- just too sore in that area -- and that was the bulk of the bonus work really, but I did a few different things. And then, for fun, I put in Step Moves with no preview. I was able to get through the warm-up and first combo fine, and then the second combo started challenging me and I petered out. Skipped ahead to the third just to see it, and then watched them do the whole thing together -- man, Cathe is impressive!! She just spits out that queing like she's been doing it for months -- guess she probably had been. Wow. And, like you guys, I didn't see any problem with it -- it's just new moves and a little complicated, but I think I'll get it -- what I did was really fun!! The sound on these dvds are a little problematic for me -- they seem really quiet, don't they? I have to crank the volume and even then it seems like I can't hear it very well -- the music or Cathe. STS I always have to crank the volume way down -- it seems so loud to me.

Not sure what's on the agenda today besides making sure I have something for the boys to wear at the wedding, last minute gift shopping, and perhaps Avatar -- it seems like it's ok for kids, though I guess it's really long, so I'm still not sure. Partly I'm not sure we have time!! Larry wants to work with them in the shop at some point, though he's got to work.

The dr. appt. worked out ok, I guess..... no answers yet, so it's not entirely good news, but whatever the regular dr. saw on the MRI this neurologist said was not a problem, so that part is good, though this guy still wants the MRI repeated in a few months. And yes, Joanne, there have been some symptoms that are unexplained. Well, nothing to worry about imminently, so we'll just wait....

Ok, so we're all back on a better eating strategy, right?! Have a great day....

Reset! I just watched the trailer for Avatar -- that looks way too intense for my boys. It's the chipmunks for us, I guess..... ug, how will I get through this? Nap time! ;)

Hi Beth. It sounds like the neurologist would be more of an expert on the MRI, so that sounds like somewhat good news. I know it must be stressful not knowing exactly what's going on. We saw the Chipmunk movie over the weekend. Caitlyn loved the first one and was so excited to see this one. It was just "OK". She even told me she didn't think it was good afterwards. But, the good news is, it's short!! :) About 1/2 the time of Avatar. Jameson and Ian saw Avatar this weekend and they liked it. But, Colin saw the Chipmunks with us. I couldn't do all three Shred workouts at once either. Maybe two. I'll see what Cathe has for January, too. It'll be either that or trying out the Jillian rotation.

oh I'm sad. I tried to do Athletic Step but the mucus kept on getting in way. We were talking about this last night...how colds never leave me. I was hoping that getting a little cardio in would be good for my system but I think the rain is making my cough just worse. I'm uberpissed. I'm so sick of being sick -- I just want to be healthy so I can work out and join Joanne on her weight loss goals. Maybe tomorrow will be better. I dunno -- i just don't to push it and make it worse but I hate this kind of cold where I can really function for everything but cardio. Maybe I'll do a weight work out or some kind of pilates...ugh, just pissy pissy. I wish when I would cough I could just expel it all out but it doesn't go far enough...I know TMI but I'm just flabbergasted. I want to get better so badly! I guess I'll clean...AS looked like a ton of fun but I think all that jumping on and off the step was too much for my chest at first.

Chris -- go you! hope you get it all in!
Joanne -- I'm so with you about losing the weight! I want to lose 10-15 by the RT. I know the 10 should be doable...the 15 is pushing it.
Beth -- oh that's funny about Avatar! You can tell your kid that if Avatar freaks them out Assassin's Creed would be worse! I told Joe last night that your kid was wanting it and he was like, "Good for Beth!" and then we assassinated someone. When your boys get older they can just borrow it from us instead of dumping the $30-50 per game. The DVD production bothers me a lot too...it can't possibly be NFL films. I feel like there's a serious lowering of quality from STS strength. Not that I mind too much, but I'm used to it getting better.

Ok, I'm going to take a warm shower to see if it helps with my chest. Man, you should be happy you're not around me. I'm super pouty!

Hi everyone..

Feeling good that I accomplished all of BM2...Yeah!! I always feel so good when that one is done...Now, time for some laundry and cleaning. Yuck!!!

Chris: Sounds like your day is planned! Have fun with it. Way to go on getting done with STS again. I was reading yesterday's post and saw your comment on that last segment of MMA: kickboxing. I was lost on that on too. Maybe next time I do it I will get it better..

Hottie: Sorry you are not better. It is hard to do cardio when you can't breathe!Get better soon..

Beth: Yeah, that Avatar movie looks a little weird. My kids saw a preview and had NO interest in it at all...Have fun with the chipmunks though. My kids loved that first one. I am so back on the right eating path...I have been good that last couple of days...I am hoping to hang on to that..Have fun on your long weekend/wedding. I agree about Cathe and her queing. She is so good at it. I guess she has had alot of practice over the years..

Joanne: I hope you like Jillian's stuff. I have a few friends who love her and have also purchase those new Tracie Long DVDs. I am happy right now with what I got. I am one of those who likes to stick with one instructor. I don't hop around too much. Good luck with your new eating plan to loose the weight. I am still at my quest to loose about 10 pounds. It is hard when you get close to your goal...

Ah! A moment's rest, and the key word here is "moment"! LOL!

My family left around 10am. It was a nice visit, but I worked my ass off last night on dinner. I swear, I was in the kitchen from 3pm-9pm, cooking , dessert serving, cleaning up. I was so jealous of everyone that got to sit and snuggle on the couch and watch Night of the Museum 2, while I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off. I did make a very good meal that got huge compliments. (Baked Ham, really yummy roasted veggies, a healthy version of Broccoli casserole, a big green salad, hot snowflake rolls and then for dessert I made a healthy version of Peanut Butter Pie ...!!!!). My sister has had an issue with high cholesterol that she's working on lowering with diet (though it's due to HRT she's taking for menopause). She's been so good about her eating and so determined not to go on anti cholesterol meds.

So I ran my keister off last night. The morning was nicer. Even though I still cooked (chocolate chip pancakes) for everyone and did another mountain of dishes. It was more relaxed and we got to visit together more.

But..the boys stayed up way too late, and they are so cranky and fighting and yelling, even with me letting them get their way a lot of the time. Damn. I'm tired of them! Zach was a MONSTER teenager this morning. His brothers woke him up early and he was so moody and mean. I was embarassed.

And on the cleaning. I felt kind of icky about not having everything "just so" , especially upstairs in the bedrooms. My bed wasn't made up nice, and there was crap all over from Christmas. And the boys' stuff all over the bathroom. It was weird having my sister seeing it that way. I wished I'd cleaned better!

Kathy: BM2 is an AWESOME workout to do when you're feeling liek you NEED one! I'm so glad you guys had the same issue with MMA: KB's combo. Phsewww! Hey, did you guys like the abs on that one? I thought they were different and pretty cool!! My favorite part!

Hottie: Ick on the sputum issues! I can only imagine how you'd get with cardio and getting it all stuck. A nice steamy shower and even holding your head over a steaming pot on the stove can help loosen that up. And some hot liquids (tea's, etc). Hope you found something today to make you happy!

Joanne: I know, once again, another year over , and I've not lost the 5 lbs that creaped on since my weight loss, and now there's at least 3 or 5 more! I need to get my weekends straightened out. It's 99% stress eating and making myself feel like I "deserve" a treat since I have to go to work that night and have a shitty Saturday prepping for being away all weekend. I need to treat myself with something else. And work needs to be healthier too!! I'm so determined to make my jeans less tight, damnit!!!! .... The Jillian stuff is good. I have 3 of them, i think, have done only one. I know I have a Jillian Rotation around too. You could even mish mosh her stuff and Shock Cardio maybe? ... And Lalo too! Did you end up getting Lalo 2? I did, but haven't doenn it yet.

Beth: The neurologist appt. does sound better than what you typed about yesterday. I'm sure he's not concerned, but just wants to see if there's a change in it in 3 months. Always a good idea to follow up and "make sure your'e right". But Larry's having symptoms from it? Did they give him something to help him? It's hard not to have details, it really sucks. .... For some reason I find it easy to stick with STS. The workouts are varied enough I don't get bored. And you can add in your own cardio too. ... Hope you end up liking the Chipmunk Movie!

Oh and yes, i did Plyo Legs, last one. (I have one more MESO 3 workout on Friday, shoulders, bi's and tri's). Plyo Legs is ALWAYS a good workout! I think I may try to add one in every week or 2 for my leg workouts. Dying to see what Cathe puts up for JAN 10!

Poor Greg had to go for a follow up hearing test for work, so he slept like 5 hours after working all last night, and then got up for the appt and he has to work tonight too. I hope I can work something out so he can take a nap.

Better go get some stuff done... change over the laundry, change Zach's insulin pump needle site, do his paper route with him, make supper! Help!

I'm so freaking cranky.

Ok, so I decide that I should go to the health center. Ok, it's raining. But what USC didn't need to do was block off the path to the health center so i had to spend an extra 10 minutes in the rain. And then wait for my doctor to eat lunch for 20 minutes before she spent five on me. It's exactly as I thought. a lingering cough. may last for 2-3 weeks. (WHAT??!?!) Then...the mice room. Ugh...the mice. The Alzheimer's mice. Ick ick ick! 45 minutes my ass. more like 2 hrs. And then I ran out of new cages. So, i'll have to go scavenging tomorrow. I don't really want to stay much longer. I have stuff I can do but my cough is really hurting and I don't think being here is helping it at all. I don't particularly like leaving when I had other stuff planned but what am I supposed to do? My boss is going to be all alone again....sucks to be him (actually, I don't understand why he's here. he's working on a grant and I don't know why he won't work out of his much bigger million dollar home by the beach...).

Ok, I'm going to wrap up to leave....

Hottie, you are too funny about your boss. Those coughs just hang on so long, don't they?! Did you see my note about fires in the fireplace? We have ceased all woodstove fires at our house, sadly. I thought it was supposed to be nice down there -- raining? I hope we don't have rain for the drive tomorrow.... now Larry is thinking he is going to drive down on his motorcycle. He wants to do a road trip to Alaska with a friend of his next year, but the friend is super conservative (more than Larry) and wants Larry to put in a lot of long miles first. But I wouldn't want him riding in the rain!

Chris, it sounds like you had a nice time with family, even though you worked your tail off. How did you make the healthy versions of the food -- especially broccoli casserole? I love that!

STS is great variety -- I love it for that -- but..... I end up missing my full body workouts, my circuits, my kettlebell. Too many workouts, you know?! Every time I do plyo legs I think I should add it in on a regular basis. Those are great workouts!

We saw Alvin.... we had decided to skip the movie -- I had to go into work for a while. Well, we were coming out of work and they said they changed their mind about not wanting to go. I looked at the time and realized we could make it to the next showing, so we did. I had a decent nap, though for some reason my head was bobbing around like crazy and I kept waking up, so that part wasn't so great! :D Good thing we were in the very last row so no one had to look around my bobbing head.

I got the tree down, decorations back in the boxes (still need to put the boxes in storage, but that'll wait), got the last load of laundry in now. I found the presents I needed to, pretty much -- need to wrap them. I know what all the boys are wearing to the wedding.... now, I just need to figure out what I'm wearing!!!

On to it......

Hottie: sorry there's no quicker answer/cure for your coughs. Alzheimer mice? do they have Alzheimers and how do you know???? weird mice stories....

Beth: Did the boys at least watch Alvin and like it? LOL!!! Motorcyle in the rain does NOT sound good. Better check the weather channel. It looks like our tree won't probably make it down until Monday. Or maybe Saturday, Greg has Friday night off this week. We'll see. I'm sure I'll be in a shitty-ass mood by Saturday. I kind of like it for now, though. It's still pretty! ... I guess I can see where you'd miss your total body workouts and KB. But, could you do a KB workout for your cardio one day? .... Oh I'll post the Broccoli Casserole recipe. It wasn't near cheesy and ooey gooey like the "normal" one, but it was kind of tasty. I had it leftover tonight, and liked it even better.

Here ya go:

Broccoli Casserole
