Good Morning Girls :)

I hope you all had a great weekend!- and your team won last night!!

Today was PH for me. I love this workout!! It was my first weight workout with Cathe and I always enjoy it! Since we haven't done muscle endurance for a while, I stuck with Cathes weights she used(except tri- I used 20# barbell instead of 25#) I was happy with that! I also love the abs from PH. Sometimes I tack them on to other workouts- They are short and work all ab muscles. My DH noticed I have PH on video, and I explained I still have 2 more dvds to get to have all Cathes workouts on dvd, and he said, just get them!! So I did:) I ordered last night and hope to have them on Wed.!!! (I actually still need cardio hits, but I rarely use them, so I'm happy to keep the vhs')



Tracee- Wasn't it hard to adjust not doing the weights slow and heavy? It took me a while to get used to it! I made some changes to the week:
1: PH
2: CF all step
3: DM
4: KPC
5: Power Max/ Rhythmic STep/Imax blasts only(will pick one that morning- want to do them all!! not all at once,- but I haven't done them in a while, and want to)
6: PH (hopefully will have my new dvd)
7: off

week 2:

Day 1: ME
Day 2: Imax of choice
Day 3: BC
Day 4: CK
Day 5: MIS (doing ab work on long step)
Day 6: Step Blast
Day 7: off

Good Morning!
I also did PH this morning. I don't think I will ever be as strong as the rest of you, but I just do what I can. I am still recovering from whatever it was that I had, but do feel alot better. Leg is not hurting so far with the lower body work and little bit of cardio that I have done recently...yeah!!:)

Deanie--WTG on having all of Cathe's dvds!! That is impressive! What a sweet husband you have. He must know how much you enjoy Cathe w/o's!;) I will try to follow your revised rotation this week.

I tried to buy CK/CM last night on ebay but was outbid. Someone went as high as $42.00,....when it sells for $46.00!! Oh, well. I'll get it one way or another.

It is supposed to reach 60 degress here this aft...yipeeee!! I am ready for Spring weather.

Good Morning Ladies.

This morning I did ME since I don't own PH. I definitely liked the quicker pace after doing three weeks of S&H. I kept up with Cathe's weights when I could. Also, I didn't do the squats, lunges or shoulder work because I did S&H Legs and Shoulders yesterday.

Deanie - I'm glad you changed things up a bit on your rotation because I didn't have hardly any of the workouts that you had for this week eventually. You do have a great husband if he recognizes the need for another Cathe DVD! :)

I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet and order some of the DVD's that I want. I have a hard time spending money and usually when I do some big emergency comes up and I kick myself for having just spent money on myself. ;(

Gin - I'm glad to hear that you didn't have much discomfort today and that you're going to do this weeks workouts with us.

Oh, and I'm jealous of the 60 degree weather. It's only about 5 degrees here with a 20 below wind chill. They cancelled school here because of the bitter cold!!

I'm always amazed that people will pay so much for something on ebay when you can get it from the source for only a few dollars more.

Hi girls,

I was sick all weekend. I think I caught whatever DH had. I had a low grade fever, body aches and trouble breathing. We're still trying to get the paint smell out of our kitchen. If possible, don't ever paint your house with oil-based paint. It's horrible! Needless to say, I didn't work out this weekend. This cold weather isn't helping either. I think it's only 8 degress outside right now.

Today was the first time I did Jari Love's Slim & Lean. I liked it but the sets are long. You definitely don't need heavy weight to feel it. There's lots of pulsing. I used pretty much what Jari used. I also like it because you only have to use dumbbells which makes the workout go by much quicker for me.

Warmpup - 5#
Squats - 10#
Lunges - 8#
Back lunges - no weights
Chest press - started with 10#, had to go down to 8#
Bent leg deadlift/deadrow - 10#
Pushups - didn't have that much strength this morning so I did most on bent knees but still felt it.
Rotator cuff raise - 5#, went down to 3#
Tricep dips - 24 (didn't use barbell in lap)
Overhead extensions - 8# for 2 sets; 5# for last set
Hammer curls - 8#, switched to 5#
Traditional curls - all 5#
1 legged squats - no weight and tried not to hold on to work my core
If you really want to try an advanced move, close your eyes while doing this.
Plie squats - 10#
(Deanie: I don't know if I agreed with their form. I'm used to doing pliés in ballet class and I always tuck in my rear end rather than stick it out like they did. I feel it more in my inner thighs. Which way do you do them?
Overhead press - 8# 1st set, 5# 2nd set
Lateral raise - 8# 1st set, 5# 2nd set
Abs weren't terribly difficult. Cathe's are more intense.
I burned 344 calories doing this workout. I was in my target heart rate zone for 26 minutes.
Deanie - Dancing with the Stars was great. Everyone was great with the exception of Harry Hamlin. He never did get any better. The rumba was my favorite number. Edyta and Alec Mazo and Karina and Louis Van Amstel danced it. Edyta's legs just go on forever.

Power Hour was also my first Cathe strength workout. Sorry to say this is the one I reach for least.

Gin - I'm so jealous. I wish it was 60 degrees here. Glad you're feeling better.

Tracee - Good for you on keeping up with Cathe's weights.

I'm at work right now but I wished I would have stayed home.

I had to come back on to say that I won my first ever ebay item this morning. I bought a used Power Hour dvd for $20. I sure hope I like it!

I still haven't taken the plunge and bought the gym styles or imax3 but I have them in my shopping cart at Cathe.com so one of these days I'll bite the bullet and go through with the purchase. :D

Marcy - I'm impressed that you are able to like so many different instructors. I have a hard time with that and I don't seem to like too many of them.

Tracee- I am so excited for you:) :) :) !! I hope you enjoy it!!! I never have any luck on ebay either I am scammed or outbid. I'm glad the changes in the rotation work for you too. I can not imagine how cold it must be where you live.... its freezing here in MD. today and not as cold as you have it and its horrible, it must be worse for you!!

Gin- Yes, I have to agree, DH is wonderful!!:) He is always really good about anything we need health wise. Before we met, he had been overweight and lost it. We met, married, and eventually he gained it back. He has since lost it again- and kept it off!!!whooo hooo!!(love that WW) and knows how important working out is and keeping fit! PS- I too am jealous for the 60 degree weather.

Marcy- I totally agree about the plies- I tuck my rear end in. I actually had to get up and try it-LOL- I do it so automatically! I cant imagine the other way is the correct form. I like that you try other instructors. For me, once I found Cathe, I don't want to try anyone else!, but I do tend to be a little anal:) Dancing with the Stars sounded fun! I'm glad you weren't to sick to go. I actually have painted most rooms in my home and none were with oil based paints. In fact, I did use oil based paint on my kitchen cabinets, and had to go to the one store (Duron paints) that sold it. I was under the impression it was hard to come by. The guy at home depot tried to talk me out of it. hmmmmm. I hope you feel better soon.-Another similarity to me- Unless I have a fever I work out!!- Seems your like that too!}(
 
Tracee - congrats on your ebay purchase. I actually have had a lot of good luck on ebay. With the exception of Cardio Hits, the Power Hour DVD and Rhythmic Step+ and the new ones I preordered from Cathe, I have gotten all of my Cathe DVDs from ebay and a few other instructors as well. You have to be persistent, try not to bid till the end. If you can't wait till then, just put in the maximum you're willing to bid on the item. $20 is a great price for the Power Hour DVD. $50 is the normal price. I mostly make sure people have 100% perfect feedback and I try not to pay more than $4.00 for shipping. It shouldn't cost that much to ship one DVD. Otherwise, they're just trying to make money on the shipping if they can't get it on the price.

Marcy--What type of HRM do you use? Mine does not work in front of the tv. Curious about the # of calories you burn with various Cathe w/o's. Sorry you have been sick. I just came home from school and soooo much is going around. I wash my hands constantly. I am not familiar with Jari Love. Can you buy her dvds on collagevideo? Similiar to Cathe? I would have loved to see Dancing with the Stars!! How Fun!! I loved watching Emmitt, Joey and Mario dance. So entertaining and Mario looked like a professional!

Deanie--WTG for DH being so successful with WW! I see very few men attending the WW mtgs.

Sorry ladies to tease you all with our 60 degree weather. It is beautiful and suuny here today. I could not live in 5 or 8 degree weather. I wouldn't last. Way tooo wimpy!:eek: I forgot where you all live. Deanie, you are in Maryland?

I'm in New York. I use a Polar F4 heart rate monitor and it doesn't interfere with the TV. You can get Jari's DVDs on Collage. I got them and deepdiscountdvd.com during the sale for I think $6.18 each. Jari is all high rep/low weight, lots of pulses. Her Ripped to the Core workout is compound moves. So far that's my favorite of hers. I previewed Ripped 1000 but haven't done that one yet. It's a circuit workout with very athletic choreography but she's always changing the direction of the step in the cardio so it's better if you preview it before you do it so you know which way to turn your step. I guess in comparison to Cathe, Power Hour and Muscle Endurance would be most like Jari's. I'll try and start posting calories burned with Cathe workouts.

Marcy - Thanks for the tips on ebay. I was real nervous about bidding because I always think I'm going to get scammed but so far this looks like it will be a good purchase.

Gin - I'm in Michigan and have lived here all my life. I don't like the cold at all. My fingers and toes go numb very easily and don't get much blood flow to them so it is very uncomfortable. In fact I just learned last week that there is a name for my condition, it's called Raynaud's. I definitely wish I could live in a warmer climate.

Deanie - that's a great story about your husband. Does he workout too?

Thank you Marcy for posting the # of calories burned during various w/o's. Quite interesting! Wow..IMAX3 burns alot. You could eat a cheeseburger after that one!;) You know I am just kidding! I would like to get a Polar F4 HRM. I have a Polar F5 and it is very tempermental.:-(

Tracee--I am may haved missed you. I have a friend that suffers from the same thing you do. Her fingers would start to turn white and she would run them under warm water. I'm sorry that happens to you also.

I probably missed you guys-
Gin- I am in Maryland- montgomery county- close to DC and its great taking advantage of that with the kids!

Tracee- My DH does workout- but he just bike rides. Lately, he's been doing the elliptical for something different.

My DH does WW- but he does it on the computer. Doesn't go to meetings.
