Good Morning Girls

Today was ME. I figured out why I don't like this workout- It is HARD!! I used the same weights as Cathe, and got a good workout, but glad I am going to do MIS later in the week and not ME again!!:)

I am off to do many errands before the snow (and work at noon) I hope I finish everything before the snow comes!

Tracee- I hope you liked PH this morning. It is one of my favorites.

Have a good day all,

Deanie

Good Morning.

Deanie - I know what you're saying about ME, it is hard. I usually skip at least one round of the leg presses. I think, though, because this was one of my first Cathe workouts it is one of my favorites.

I did PH this morning and I'm already feeling it. I think I'm going to be sore, sore, sore tomorrow. I think I went as heavy as Cathe in most of the upper body sets. I can't go as heavy as her on legs because I don't have a barbell but someday I will. I actually did 8lb dumbbells for biceps and Cathe had a 15lb barbell so I was glad to get through it. :D

Gin - Yes, this was the dvd that I just received and the first time doing PH. I'm impressed if you think you can't normally lift as heavy as Marcy and Deanie but are able to match Cathe on PH. Some of those sets are long and the weight really gets heavy. I think I'm the lightweight from this group. :)

Marcy - What did you do over the weekend and this morning? Are you feeling better?

I'll check back later girls. Have a good Monday.

Hi girls!

I just tried to rest this weekend. I am feeling better, but not 100% yet. Got rid of a lot of chest congestion but still have a little bit.

I finally did a workout again today. My first in a week. I did Jari's Ripped to the Core. I really like this workout. It is all compound moves. I burned 398 calories. This workout kept me in my zone for 43 minutes so it's like a cardio workout as well. You certainly don't need heavy weights for this one. Here's what I used:

Warmup - 5# dbbls
Reverse lunge and side squat - 8# - heartrate 78
Spider pushups - H.R. 73
Chest press with hips raised - 10#, switched to 8# towards the end - heartrate 65
Bent leg deadlift with bicep curl - 8# heartrate 73
Wide squat with upright row - 8# heartrate - heartrate 76
Stiff leg deadlift with lateral row - 8# (did on one leg to work balance) Heartrate - 78
Squat with lateral raise, narrow squat with anterior raise - 5# (this was on the step and I lifted my knee to work my core) Heartrate 85
Step Ups with overhead press (this is the toughest exercise for me) - 5# - heartrate 76
Tricep kickbacks with core (kickback with 1 arm and shoot out alternating leg) - 5# heartrate 72.
Abs - planks, crunches

Deanie - I agree ME is one tough workout and one of my most dreaded. MIS is no picnic for me either.

Tracee - Good work on Power Hour. I say get the barbell. You'll be glad you did. But dumbbells are still quite effective. That's all I use in Jari's workouts.

Gin - Hope you have a good workout.

My DH told me last night he thought I looked more cut before the holidays. I'm glad he noticed but then I had to look back and see what I did and I was doing the rotation for all the new Cathe workouts. I was real surpised when he said I looked better then. As you all know, I always thought I did better with heavy lifting and like it much better. He did notice a cut by my shoulders which he said he never noticed before. He says I look thin but not very defined right now. But I did lose 3/4 inch off my biceps last month. I did have a lot of days off around the holidays so maybe that's part of the answer. I actually weighed more then but did lose inches. But I also lost inches last month doing Gym Styles. Go figure! Just when you think you have it all figured out....

Have a good day everyone. BBL.

Back again- I can't believe I did all my errands-
Post Office (mailed our taxes!)
bank
fill gas tank(I don't know why I feel the need to do this when bad weather is predicted)
food shop- first grocery store didn't have all I needed, so I had to go to the more expensive store- they actually had Smart Water on sale for a dollar- so I picked up some:)
came home, unpacked and had my mid morning meal- Whew!
I love when I get so much accomplished so early!!

Tracee- I'm glad you liked PH! Tomorrow, for something different, I'm going to do Imax 2 blast mania! Its a shorter workout- but intense- I've never done it but want to try it. Do you want to join me?

Gin- Hope you are having a good day and a fun workout.

Marcy- I am glad you are feeling better enough to workout. Interesting about what your DH noticed. I always feel more cut with lifting and more lean with cardio. Although, I also noticed my shoulders looking cut with the Nov. rotation. I was impressed by your stats you lost last month, and thought about doing Cathes Jan. rotation because of your results. Hmmm.... Are you up for joining in with Imax 2 blast mania tomorrow?

Deanie

Hi Deanie,

I don't think I'm up for that much intensity yet tomorrow. I was going to do Kathy Smith's Latin Rhythms tape. I also only have the Terminator DVD. I'm still trying to get C&W/IMAX 2 and IMAX 3. I only have IMAX 3 on Hardcore Extreme. I really miss not having the whole workouts by themselves and the premixes. Is Blast Mania all 10 blasts by themselves?

Marcy

Marcy - I'm glad you are feeling a little better now. Whatever you had sounds like it was rough. Good job on getting right back into a tough workout. I don't know what to say about what your husband observed. I guess it all depends on what you want your body to look like, right? I think it's good that he noticed though!!

Deanie - Congrats on being super productive this morning. I'd love to join you in the IMAX2 premix but I only have it on VHS and therefore no premixes. Since these were the first Cathe's I ever ordered I didn't realize that she put such great premixes on the dvd's so I only went by price and ordered VHS because they were cheaper. Wish I had known then, right?!

I'll still be doing IMAX2 but just in it's original format. :)

Tracee

Marcy- a great workout with the terminator dvd is to do the Gauntlet- cardio only. It isn't a premix, but a mish mosh A-Jock thought up. Its really intense (so maybe you don't want to do it tomorrow) but I really like it! (you have to use the mix and match feature). Yes, blast mania is Imax 2: warmup, blasts only, and cool down.
So, since your husbands comments, are you still up for Debbies rotation?

Tracee- I had Imax 2 on vhs also, and I got it about 6 months ago on dvd specifically because I wanted the premixes, and then haven't used it.- Don't know why or how- just happened. Imax 2 is my least favorite Imax (maybe even cardio) of Cathes- It was my first interval workout with Cathe and took me soooo long to master (the footsteps and interval training all new at once) I think it scarred me :) So I try and get creative with it when I do it.

Deanie

Good Afternoon All!

I did ME upper (body only and it is the FitTV version) and added B&G abs. I have yoga tonight and may walk.

Deanie--I must be missing some of the tough part of ME with my shorter version. I would eventually like to get all of the full dvds that I have taped from the tv!! I have 6 to go!!:p Enjoy IMAX 2 Blast Mania tomorrow. Sounds Crazy!:p

Tracee--I do have to tell you that I am not doing any squats, lunges, or up and down on the step while my leg heals, so the PH was easier for me b/c of that! My triceps were still sore though from Sat.'s PH.

Marcy-- Glad you are feeling better! Glad your DH noticed the changes in your body. My DH never notices anything!!

I plan to do The Firm floor legs and swim class tomorrow. But, I'll be thinking of you girls when you are doing IMAX2 Blaster!!:p

Have a great day!
Gin

Afternoon everyone!

Gin - Considering you still have an injury, you get an awful lot accomplished! The full workouts are much better than the Fit TV versions. What a difference!

Deanie - In spite of my husband's comments, I will still do Debbie's rotation. I'll continue with my light weights for the next couple of weeks. It won't be a full month rotation like this but it's good enough for now. Maybe after Debbie's rotation, I'll go back to light weights.
