Good Morning Girls:)

Today was S&H bi/tri. Once again I raised my weights:)! My concentration was back today which is good. I did not do the abs from this workout, I added on LIC abs, since it was still in the player (have a 5 disc dvd player- love it!) I forgot the ab work from LIC- it was a great workout! I am looking forward to CK tomorrow. I haven't done it in a while and I love kickbox.

Do you all eat before you workout? In Dec. I started eating 1/2 a banana or 1/2 a Cliff bar (or gensoy bar) depending on what I felt like eating. I now wake up STARVED!!! and the first time I ignored it, I used to always wake up and just work out, and I got a monster headache!!! This started in Dec. and I'm wondering if its because I'm doing so much lifting. I also now wake up at 5:15, so I can hit the snooze(a must:) ) and then eat, and still get to my workout at 6. Its funny, but I never used to be a morning person, and I am now!!LOL!

Gin- I try to eat protein at every meal (and snack) You'd be surprised at how many foods have protein that you didn't think they did. Yogurt has protein (that surprised me!) For breakfast, I like the boca breakfast patties, or Kashi Go lean, for lifting days, but even my cardio days when I eat Irish Oatmeal, that also has protein in it. For a snack, or dessert, I will have vanilla yogurt with apple cut up in it and cinnamon on top.- I also buy the WW ice cream in a cup (2 points) and that has protein in it. I also eat egg white omlets with mozz. cheese, or beans and rice for lunch alot which is protein. I hope those are some good suggestions for you. I am always looking for new ideas, so If you have any please share:) :)
Maybe Marcy or Tracy?

Marcy- I started with Cathe in April of 2005. Imax 2 was at the library on display and my younger DS saw it and showed it to me, I picked it up and the rest is history. (I actually had her High Step Circuit for begin/inter. which I liked, but it wasn't to challenging, and he recognised her on the Imax video) How about you? Thanks for the book recommendation- I'm headed to the library today!

Tracee- How'd you do today? Raise any weights?

Have A great day everyone!!
BBL,
Deanie

Good Morning everyone.

This morning turned into a rest day for me. Got woke up in the middle of the night and it took an hour to get back to sleep so I knew it wouldn't be a good day to get up early and lift weights. I really want to increase the weights on bi's & tri's so I'm going to do it tomorrow.

Gin - I always intend to be on ebay at the last possible second but so far the ending times are either inconvenient for me or I forget like I did last night. x( I wouldn't have gone as high as the final bid went last night anyway so I wasn't too disappointed.

Deanie - No, I don't eat before I workout. I'm usually not hungry and I don't want to have to get up any earlier than I already do! I could probably grab something quick but I could never sit down and eat something because I would probably talk myself out of working out. :p

Deanie - What kind of workouts were you doing before Cathe?

I started with Cathe in Feb. 2003. I bought the Intensity Series and have been building on that ever since. I worked out until August of that year when I got pregnant with my daughter. I get terrible morning sickness when I'm pregnant and never wanted to exercise. I finally started again in Dec. of 2004 and stuck with it for and entire year. I don't know what happened but I quit working out for another year and finally got back into it when I received the new series on Nov. 1st of 2006. So that's my whole story. More than you probably wanted to know. Ha!

Hope everyone else has a great workout today!

BBL.

Tracee- before Cathe I did yoga- for about 8 years! and I did some ballet video workouts. Before that I did the Firm, but I only liked their original videos. The later stuff I didn't like. I have been working out since College. There was a gym on campus, and I continued my ballet with classes in college. I started working out at home in '92 when I moved to DC. I didn't workout either when I was preg. but I did walk. Thats my story!!:) What I thought was interesting was, the guy who trained me at the gym, could tell I danced by my muscles. He looked at my calves and asked if I dance- I always thought that was interesting. Okay, now too much info from me!!:)

Hi girls,

Today was Push/Pull for me. I really like this workout and enjoy the music. I like it because it has some different moves like the inverted shoulder press off the step and the bicep curls with one leg on the ball. I had a little problem with this - I couldn't hold my balance on my right leg but my left leg was fine. I wish this one had more abs - it only had the reverse crunch. I found back is worked a lot more in this one which is good but didn't feel as much for chest and triceps. I caved and did the squats, lunges and leg presses. The leg presses I do with a kick to work on my balance. They really seem to get my heart rate up.

Now for my history. I started with Cathe in November of '05. I got hooked on her when I discovered her on Fit TV doing Rhythmic Step. I thought finally, someone who does a fun, advanced workout and the rest is history. I actually started working out at home with Jane Fonda (remember Lean Routine) and The Challenge Workout (which I actually started doing at my gym). I also first saw Richard Simmons when he appeared on General Hospital in the early 80s. I did 7 years of ballet before that.

As for my eating, I usually don't eat before I workout (I'm really not that hungry then) but if I do wakeup hungry, I usually eat a banana or a yogurt or I grab a Fiber One bar. I just discovered these and they're really yummy (oats and chocolate and also have 9 grams of fiber). I had a slice of whole wheat toast this morning with some tuna fish and I'm now on my second meal of the day - egg white omelet with spinach, tomatoes and red peppers on a whole wheat wrap). Lunch is a Weight Watchers meal, 2nd snack is yogurt and a Fiber One bar and dinner is I don't know yet.

Deanie - I also have great calf muscles from dancing. I guess it was all the releves in ballet class. I also love plie squats but not regular squats. I also think LIC abs is pretty good. Those banana holds are always tough.

Tracee - Try just putting in your maximum bid whenever you get a chance to bid and maybe you'll get lucky.

Sorry for the long post, girls. BBL.

Marcy

Marcy - I just finished my 2nd meal of the day- an egg white omlete!!:) I put in onions, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoe and low fat mozz. cheese!!- with a sprinkle of garlic- yummmmmm

Deanie

Deanie - Sounds like we eat and train alike. Are you sure we weren't twins in a prior life?

Marcy

Marcy and Deanie - Did you guys always eat pretty healthy or did you change the way you eat at a certain point in your life? That's the hardest thing for me and at this point I'm not ready to change much about what I eat. ;-)

Marcy - I really like push/pull too although it's been a long time since I've done that one. I don't even have half of Cathe's workouts and I find that I forget about so many of them. Especially with all the premixes.

Oh, and don't appologize for long posts, I love to read them!

Now we just have to wait to hear from Gin and her workout history.

Good Afteronnon Ladies!
Wed. is my day off, so I am able to post a little earlier.
I did S&H Tri & Bi, but tacked on Biceps from GS BSB, since My S&H is the shorter FitTV version. I also had a yoga class.

Deanie--I used to eat 1/2 banana before running, but now don't eat anything before w/o. Thank you for the protein suggestions. I had a wrap for lunch filled with veggies and hummus. Has anyone ever made their own hummus? I forgot to tell you that I ordered David Swenson Yoga. I'll let you know when I get it.

Tracee--Sorry that you missed out on the ebay dvds. It may just be easier to order through Cathe. The GS seem to sell pretty close to retail.

I don't even remember a time when I didn't exercise. First it was Jackie Sorenson Areobic Dance (I know I am dating myself here!, then Jane Fonda exercise RECORDS, then aerobic classes, then The Firm (which I did FOREVER!), walking, running and finally Cathe. I first saw her on FitTV about 2-3 years ago and started buying 2 years ago.

Have a great day!

Tracee - No, I can't say I've always eaten healthy. I was always real thin growing up. My nicknames were "toothpick", "skinny bones", you get the idea. I never really had to diet. After my two kids, I gained 5# with each of them. I still wasn't too bad yet. When I met husband #2, I followed some of his bad habits (i.e., snacking at night) and packed on another 10. I guess about 3-4 years ago, I thought I really need to lose a few. Tried some kind of low carb diet, lost a few, then gained it back. Then I tried Atkins, lost about 13, gained some back. Since I started with Cathe, I really tried to eat "clean". I started eating yogurt almost daily, more fruit, whole grains, nuts (which I never ate before but now eat almonds and cashews). I changed from vegetable oil to canola or olive oil. I real all labels now. Try to eat more fiber. Used to love orange juice but now just eat the orange. My parents are both diabetic and my husband's aunt and after seeing what they go through, I am determined not to get diabetes and from everything I read, diet and exercise is the most important to preventing it.

Marcy

Only 5#'s with each pregnancy, wow, that is amazing!! I gained about 35#'s with the first, 25#'s with the second and about 15#'s with the third. I always got back to pre-pregnancy weight after each one but I think the fat is distributed a little differently.

Thank you for sharing your story. My parents have both been diagnosed with diabetes and I don't want it to happen to me either. I know I need to add more fruits and vegetables to my diet but I just haven't put the effort into it, yet.

Hi girls,

Tracee- yes, I think I have always eaten healthy, I love yogurt, I order salad because I like it:) and I love fresh fruit. I just like it. I was never overweight, or heavy. I always was active (dance, hiking) and ate whatever I wanted. Again, not a chocoholic, not big on cakes, and I don't like ice cream (I do like frozen yogurt that tastes like frozen yogurt, but that's hard to find, and another story- LOL) I also never paid attention, and moderation is the key was my motto. After my first preg. I lost my preg weight gain and then some,(I gained 35#) but my 2nd preg. I gained 15#, had a miscarriage, got preg. almost right away without losing the 15# and gained 53#!!!!!! I was 181# (ate a candy bar a day-craved it, ate cereal at night, ate all the time!!!!) I'm only 5'3 so you can imagine how big I was. After my son was born I lost all the weight but 10#, for 2 years I had it on and one day I thought I would try WW, but I was within the normal range and I couln't join. (normal for them, not me) But my mom is a member, and she gave me all the stuff, and I finally lost the weight!- and then some. I am small, but big busted, so with or without the extra 10# you may not notice, but I knew it was there and it bothered me. I also have an umbilical hernia and my lower abs have split. (I think Cathe had the same thing) my abs now look pretty close to hers.- Okay, that is my story, I think I got off track. Hope you read this:)

Marcy- It does sound like we are alot alike:). I have 2 brothers, but no sisters that I know of:)

eta: I have been trying to eat clean since starting Cathe and reading the forums here. Also, turning 41 last year has made an impact on how I eat, now I'm eating 5-6 smaller meals, instead of 3 larger ones.

Okay, my post is waaaayyy to long- I'm embarrassed!!:+

"talk" to you all tomorrow!!
Deanie

Tracee - Correction - I gained about 25# with pregnancy #1 and 18# with pregnancy #2. The 5# each is what I was left with that I didn't lose. So between the 10# after the 2 kids and probably another 10# from my bad eating habits, there's my extra 20 pounds.

Marcy

Deanie - We're getting more alike as we speak. I also have two brothers, am 5'2". I am also 41 and try to eat 5 meals a day. I wish my abs looked like Cathe but sadly they don't. I love ice cream (that's my downfall) and chocolate (especially white and dark) (at least dark chocolate is supposed to be good for you). Also love to eat salads although never ate them growing up. In first grade, my daughter was known as the "salad lady". I also love fresh fruit. Pretty much like any except for melons. Love blueberries, plums, nectarines, strawberries.

Marcy

I enjoyed reading more about you guys.
I can say that I have never had a weight problem, but have never been skinny either. I also love salads and fruit and healthy stuff. My biggest guilty pleasure is CHOCOLATE!!:9 I don't ever crave hamburgers, pizza, Mexican food, ice cream, fast food, but would rather eat a yummy salad.
Have you guys ever read Super Foods Health Style or Super Foods RX? Excellent books that I read last summer. My DH has even started adding ground flax seed and wheat germ to his daily oatmeal, enjoys it and has lowered his cholesterol.

take care!
