Cathlete
Good Monday Everyone:)

Today was S&H Chest and Back. I'm glad this is the last week of S&H. Cathe is right, you need a lot of concentration for this workout, and mine was wandering towards the end of the workout. I still did well though.
bench press 3 sets 25#
flys 3sets 17#
incline bench 2sets 25#, 1 set 20#
incline fly 3sets 15# (chest was pumped by then!!)
pushups (were hard!!!- but made it through-barely)

dumbell row 3sets 15#
dumbell pull over 3sets 15# (prob. could have done 20 for one set, but my form was really good and I didn't want to mess that up- afterwards I realized I could have done 17#, but didn't think of it)
deadlifts 2sets 25# dumbells, 2 set 20# (again, form)

I really like the ab work from this workout, so I kept that.

Tracee- how'd you do? Are you happy too this is the last week of S&H?

Gin- I answered your last post yesterday:)

Marcy/Gin- does your son with ADD have many friends? My DS has 2, and last night we were up talking about his anxiety about going to middle school next year. My heart broke for him. He has a hard time making friends. Is this common?

Gotta Go- have a great day,
BBL,

Deanie

Good morning ladies -

This morning was another good day with S&H. I managed to increase my weights in most of the exercises but I wasn't able to do many of the push ups this week. I decided to do B&G stability ball abs this time since I had done the S&H core work for the last two weeks. Yes Deanie, I am glad this is the last week of S&H even though I love the weight lifting it does get monotonous after a while.

Thank you ladies for your listening ear about my 2yr old. I'll try to remember to stay calm when I'm in the middle of one of her "episodes". It had been a long day with her on Saturday so by the time I got my message written on the forum I had little patience left. I guess I should treasure the fact that she loves to be right next to me at all times. :)

Gin - I'm sorry that your leg is still giving you problems. Have you had problems with it in the past?

I haven't had time to check out Debbie's rotation in a while so I'm going to do that so I can try to plan what changes I'll have to make.

Have a great day!

Good morning ladies,

I finally got to do Boot Camp this morning. I burned 459 calories. Here were my weights:

Squats, 32#, Back - bbl rows - 32#, static lunges - 32#
Plie squats - 32#, Dips (Deanie - used 32# barbell, I will be doing this from now on)
Leg Press with 8#, bicep curls 26#, 1 arm rows - 16#, military presses (8#)
front and back lunges (8#), lying tricep extensions (8#), side lunges (8#), hammer curls (8#).

I don't know why but I don't do this workout as much as I should. I guess because I do so many split routines, there's never enough time for circuit workouts but it's a really great workout. I think this is tougher than Drill Max. I also love HSTA which I think is just as tough as BC.

Deanie - My son has had difficulty at times with friends. Kids with ADD usually have difficulty in social situations. They are usually not as mature as their peers. Sometimes its not as important having a lot of friends as it is having 1 or 2 really good friends. He also had a very difficult time with team sports. He was much better at individual sports such as biking, skating, swimming, etc. He was on a hockey team and had no clue where he was supposed to be. Does he do any activities after school where he could make new friends?

You really went heavy today. Great work. Just curious, how long have you been doing Cathe?

Tracee - Good work on increasing the weights.

Gin - Sorry your leg isn't all better yet. At least you're still able to swim.

Have a great day ladies. BBL.

I just looked at Debbie's Jan. rotation and it makes me want to buy the Gym Styles. :) I've resisted temptation so far but it seems like these are used in so many rotations that I should probably just cave and buy them. Do you guys think it's worth the extra money to buy them directly from Cathe since they have the lifetime guarantee? That's the way I'm leaning instead of going through Collage or even ebay. If I could get them super cheap on ebay it would be worth it but it seems like the bids get close to Cathe's price anyway and I'd rather have to guarantee from SNM.

Marcy - good job on BC. I like this one too and would love to use it more than I do. Very impressive that you could do static lunges with the same weight as squats, I usually have to lighten.

Enjoy the rest of the day!

Hi Tracee,

I have to tell you Gym Styles are definitely worth the money. They are my favorite strength workouts (S&H comes a close second). I really like the variety of exercises and I also like using the band for the extra burn. I feel like I've gotten so much stronger with Gym Styles. I got mine all from ebay and haven't had a problem. I got BSB for 12.00 with shipping and Legs & Chest & Triceps for 45.00 including shipping. I figure I saved about $43 with ebay. Collage has the 3 pack for $75.00. If you buy from ebay, imbargaincrazy is very reliable. She always sells new. I got the Pyramids and KPC/Legs & Glutes from her.

Marcy

Thanks Marcy. I definitely think a $43 savings is worth going through ebay. For some reason when the ones I've been watching seem to always get bid much higher than $12.00. I guess I'll spend a few days watching for them and seeing what's out there.

Hi again all!

Tracee- I just want to let you know, I've updated my rotation a bit. I posted it last night, in response to Gins question in this forum. I definately agree- GS is a must! I also love the burn with the band she uses in these workouts. Also, they are very versitile. You can use them as is, or split them for one body part a day. I always order from Cathe, specifically because of the guarentee. But thats just me- I also had a bad experience with ebay, and someone selling knock offs as real. You will not be sorry if you get this workout.

Marcy- I love BC, it is second only to HSTA in intensity for me. All the leg presses really get me in HSTA! I like the dips with the barbell also, I wonder why Cathe doesn't always do it like that? You really feel it!! Thanks, you made me feel a little better about my son. He is immature. And though I know in my head, 2 good friends are okay, I am always concerned: what if he has a falling out with one friend, then he's left with only one friend. He is okay with team sports- He only wants to play baseball, not interested in any other sport- which is fine- he plays fall and spring. He is active, always rollerblading, bike riding, riding his scooter, and there are alot of kids in the neighborhood that join him out there. What prompted the whole discussion last night was that he went to a new hebrew school this sept.(after school- like a CCD class) and hasn't made any friends. I mentioned, kids say hi to him in the halls, but he says they don't talk to him in class. I asked him if he talks to them, and he said he tried. They he started crying - tearing- and I just didn't know how to help him. Then he started worrying about school next year.... So thank you, its nice to atleast know he's not alone. Maybe I need to go to the library to see about social skills.

I know what you're saying. I've been trying to get IMAX 2/C&W and IMAX 3 and IMAX 3 definitely goes higher than I want. If you're patient enough, you can get it for a good price. Also, check out videofitness.com under Video Exchange. You have to register but then maybe you could trade for them and it won't cost you at all.

Good Afternoon!
I did S&H Chest Back and Abs, but it was the FitTV version (43 min.) so I tacked on GS Chest only. My heaviest weight is 12#, so maybe I need to go ahead and purchase 15# now. I think I am ready to increase. I go to yoga class in an hour.

Deanie--I did see your post from last night. Thank you! I am going to try to stick what you guys are doing, at least with the upper body days. My DS has always had a handful of close friends, but in HS most of his close friends were 1-2 years younger, including GF. He has a May b-day and wondered whether we should have held him back, but pre-school and K teachers said no he was ready to go on. He always seemed to be immature compared to others in his grade. He was on tennis team and loves to run and was in the marching band, which he LOVED. I think it is so important for your children to have a passion like that when they get older. Keeps them out of trouble.

Tracee--I love the GymStyle Series. I also bought on ebay from imbargaincrazy, but I don't think I saved much honestly. Two is a tough age as far as parenting, but believe me, it all goes by so quickly. I read an excellent parenting book on discipline while on vacation. I'll post the name and author tomorrow if you want. My right leg has given me trouble off and on for the past few years. I have run 3 marathons and 4 Half marathons, but recently if I increase my mileage more than 5 miles or so in training, I get into trouble.

Marcy--I love BC. It is a great w/o. I look forward to doing it when my leg has healed!

Gin

Hi Gin. Thanks for your input on Gym Style. I'm seriously thinking I'm going to cave and buy them from Cathe this week. I have a couple of bids on ebay going right now and if those fall through then I'll just buy from Cathe.

I would love to know the name of the book on discipline, anything has to be better than the way I've been handling things.

She's been an angel tonight so maybe we're through the worst of the phase and she'll be back to her normal self.

I wish I had some advice about your leg but the last time I had an injury was when I played in a volleyball league and hurt my knee. It took a couple of years for it to be completely healed and I didn't do much exercise at all during those two years. I sure hope that isn't what your leg is going to need. :)

Have a good night.
