Deanies Rotation Check in 3/13

Cathlete
Good Morning all!

Today was KPC for me. I love this workout (big surprise!) :) I really felt it in my abs and arms and legs today! I also noticed and feel the results already from this rotation. I have to say, every rotation I've followed of Cathes, I've seen results! My abs are definately defined, and so are my arms! I think more, not less cardio is the way to go for me. I'm meso/endo, and I don't know if thats what they recommend or not. I'm wondering how much my age plays into it, because when I was younger, little or no cardio worked for me. I wish I took my measurements, but I definately SEE a difference! :) :) :) very happy! I don't need to loose weight, but I did want to get defined and I am! Also, lately, I've really been sticking to 5-6 meals a day and eating "clean". Anyway, can you tell I'm happy? :)

I did answer the post from last night, I don't know if you all go back and read it.... anyway,

Another busy day,
Have a good day all,

Deanie

Hi all! It sounds like you guys have been getting a lot accomplished while I've been away. That's why I love this check in - it's so motivating for me.

This morning was IMAX2. I did the best I could but I was tired and I could definitely tell that my cardio endurance has decreased. But that's okay because I'm not trying to win any contests!! :)

Congrats Deanie on seeing results. I've seen some results also but I know I would see more if I could clean up my eating.

I know there has been many discussions about oatmeal on the regular board but it will be faster to get an answer from you guys. Is steel cut oats a brand name or is it a type of oatmeal? Is it much better than plain old Quaker?

Thanks,
Tracee

Hi Deanie and all who follow:

Today was PUB. I did the abs first. I think I will do PUB this way from now on. I was able to do everything, including all the pikes and leg lifts off the ball. Here are my weights:

Flies/Bench Press: 12, 15, 19.5, 15, 12
Pullovers - 12, 15, 22.5 (went up 3#), 18(went up 3#), 15(went up 3#)
Double Arm Rows - 12, 15, 21(went up 1.5#), 16.5(went up 1.5#), 13.5 (went up 1.5#)
Seated Rear Fly/Standing Lateral Raise/Standing Front Raise:
6.5# (went up 1.5#), 9.5 (went up 1.5#), 11.5 (went up 1.5#), 9.5, 6.5
Kickbacks: 6.5, 9.5, 11.5 (looked at wrong day of what I did last time so actually went down in weight by 1.5# on each)
Seated Overhead Press: 13 (went up 1#), 16.5 (went up 1.5#), 22.5 (went up 3#), 16.5, 13
Hammer Curls/Traditional Curls - 9.5 (went up 1.5#), 11.5 (went up 1.5#), 13 (went up 1#). Only did Pyramid Up on this as I ran out of time.

I'm feeling DOMS in my butt from B&G yesterday. I always feel this one a day later.

Deanie - I remember the Fonz now. I actually like that exercise. I think muscle endurance might actually work for you. I know you love Cathe but you might want to check out Jari sometime in the future. Do you switch off between heavy lifting and muscle endurance each month or do you stick with one more than the other? After P90X is over, I might do another Jari rotation. I've also been trying to stick with 5 meals a day. I'm really going to try and do the P90X eating plan. I've been eating clean for the most part except dinner is tough. I always go back and read the post from the day before to see if I missed anything. I'm glad you're having another good day. I feel pretty good today myself.

Gin/Tracee/Jennifer - Hope you have a good day and get your workouts in.

BBL.

Hi guys

Tracee- I have the John McCann Steel cut oat meal. It comes in a can, and it is not instant. It is REALLY good. My mom makes it and gets 4 servings from one pot, I make it and I only get 3. It may be because I like thicker rather than thinner oatmeal. I highly recommend it. It is 2 points on WW and it is really filling! I add Splenda brown sugar and spray butter. I think Gin adds nuts, which would be good too. You're right, your not trying to win any races. The fact you did a workout is so much better than not working out at all:)

Marcy- Is the rotation with SS and PP on it good? Has it got the final Marcy stamp of approval:) }( :D ? I wasn't sure what the verdict was... I always do PUB abs first. I would do it as is, and my arms would shake! I have PUB on the schedule tomorrow. I don't usually do abs back to back and they are both hard ab work, we'll see how I feel. I may do PUB abs on Thurs. with PLB. Now I'm rambling.....

DS #2 has signed up for guitar lessons. He will be taking his first one today. I'm not sure about continuing (this is a trial lesson) because he's only 7 and I'm not sure of his level of commitment.

Have a good one-

Deanie

Hi again!

Tracee - You must have posted while I was posting this morning so I didn't see your post. Doing a workout is better than not doing one at all. It'll take a little time before you're back to normal. When I was sick, I had to slowly ease back into cardio because I just didn't have the energy.

Deanie - The rotation looks pretty good. But just in case you want a few more suggestions:

High Step Challenge:

Side pushups
2 sets barbell rows
Back rows with band
Seated T-back squeeze with band
Isolation Flyes
Decline pushups on step

HSTA:

Decline pushups
BBl rows - 2 long sets
BBl deadlifts
Wide grip back rows
Chest flyes while doing hamstring glute tucks (although I guess you could go heavier without doing the tucks) - 2 sets
Cross over pushups walking hands side to side across high step

Muscle Max:

Underhand rows - 2 sets
Dbbl One Arm Rows
Bbl Pullovers
Pushups
2 sets of Flyes
Pushups

LIC:

Positive pushups, negative pushups and uneven pushups
Lat pull down, scapular retractions, double arm standing rows

Body Max 2:

Double arm rows
Decline Pushups on ball
Wide stance pushups on ball
Pullovers

Hope your DS enjoys his guitar lessons but I definitely wouldn't have him continue unless he really wants to commit to practice.

Marcy

Marcy- funny, I was thinking of looking at MM and LIC later today. I liked SS and PP because the premixes were set up for the rotation so all that you had to do was rewind to do a group again. It saves time instead of keep going to mix and match. I'll check it out:) Thanks!

My DH and I were thinking the same thing. Let it rest and see if he mentions it again thru the summer and if he does maybe start him in Sept. The guitar itself is a 70$ investment, which is a lot of $$$$ for a 7yr. old. We want to make sure he is totally committed!

Deanie

Deanie - LIC sounded good to me because of the wide variety of pushups and the back work sounded pretty good too.

Now for the good news: I just got my Door Gym! I can't wait to try it out. I'm going to try and get it set up tomorrow morning. I hope it works.

My daughter had wanted to play the flute when she was about 9 or 10 and did it almost till the end of school and then she complained about getting headaches and never finished up the term. I forgot how much I paid. If he is disciplined enough, then go for it but if not, I would wait.

Marcy

Hooray! I hope your Door Gym works out for you:) I would be excited to try the pull ups, but I'm wondering how many, if any chin ups I could do. How about you? Of course after the X, you'll be a pro, and I'll be jealous:)! Good Luck tomorrow!

I have a 5 disc player, so I'm thinking I may go back and forth (time allowing) with alternating types of pushups in LIC with back work in GS BSB. All the back and forth, may take up too much time, but I'd try it the first time and see.

I also liked your idea of HSTA, but for the supersets of the shoulders, tri, bi. Just using the mix and match feature. I have to look at back threads of ours to see how many supersets there are. In HSTA there are 4 excersises for each of the above body parts. So much CAthe, with so many good excersises its so hard to pick and choose!:+
