Cathlete
Good Morning!!

I'm not worried about starting the thread today at the same time as you, Gin:), its 7:30a.m. here in MD!!!!:)

I actually woke up in time this morning!!!(Actually I woke up at 4:30, but lay in bed till 5!) So, today I did GS C&T with the mix and match feature. I was able to up almost all my weights, but I didn't like doing the workout this way. It was annoying with the step, going from incline back to flat. Also, with all the bench presses and flys, I kept forgetting how many I had done, and where I was. And then I ended up having to do the close grip press at the end, together. A positive: besides the weights, it took the same amount of time: 50 min.

My DS went to school today for the orientation 1/2 day!! This is the first time ever he went to school without me being there!!:( Usually I take them to the bus and wave goodbye (although the boys found that embarrassing:)!) The middle school is only a block and a half away, but I'm glad he walked with a friend. Its weird, I want him to call me when he gets there so I know he's safe, but of course he can't!!

[b/]stats[/b/]
[b/]chest[/b/]
all pushups on toes
bench press: 27# all 3 sets, 8 reps
fly: 22# all three sets, 10 reps
incline bench: 25# 1st set, 8 reps; 22# 2nd set, 10 reps
incline fly: 20# both sets, 10 reps
close grip chest press: 35# bbl (totally fried by this point, this was my last excersise today!)
[b/]tricep[/b/]
dips: 40# bbl
lying extensions: 10# (up 2#)both sets
seated french press: 25# both sets
lying xbody extension: 12# both sets, 10 reps
tri. kickbacks: 12# both sets

I think next week I will do the workout as is, but do the presses with 25#, and do all the reps with cathe, same with flys, drop to 20# and do all the reps. I think I can keep the tri. weights, but may have to drop the lying cross body extensions back to 10#

Okay, off to have coffee(gasp!) yes I am having coffee for a change:) :) before my other DS wakes up! Tomorrow is his open house. So far 3 of his friends all have another teacher than him. The one boy he knows that has his teacher, he's not thrilled about. Likes the teacher, not the boy!!:)

Since my post is so long, I'm just going to say: I hope everyone had a great workout today!

Have a great day all!!
Later~

Hi Deanie and all who follow!

I had a really good workout today. I did GS Chest & Tris and the plank and ab work from Seasun Zieger's Next Step. I did the mix-n-match a little differently today and I think actually finished in the shortest amount of time for me. It's not as much of a dreaded workout for me when I do it this way. If I remember correctly, here is the order I did it in (I kind of used a pyramid down style for most):

Warmup
Pushups (all 72 on toes with no extra breaks:))
Both sets of Dbbl Lying Extensions - 13# (whatever Cathe did, I think it's 8 reps) - stayed same weight
Dbbl Bench Press - I think I did all 3 rounds together all at 19# - 1st set - 12 reps, 2nd set - 10 reps, 3rd set - 8 reps (went up 3#:))
Both sets of cross body extensions - 13# both sets - 12 reps 1st round, 2nd round - 10 reps R side, 7 1/2 reps L side (stayed same weight) (went up 3#:))
Chest Flys - 2 sets at 19# - 1st - 12 reps, 2nd - 10 reps (went up 3#:))
Band work for cross body extension
Incline Chest Press - 19# both sets - 12 reps 1st set, 8 reps 2nd set (went up 3#:))
Dbbl Kickbacks - 15# both sets, 10 reps each (went up 2# on 1st set and stayed same for 2nd set)
Incline Flys - 19# both sets, 1st - 12 reps, 2nd - 8 reps (went up 3#:))
Kickbacks with band
Bbl Close Grip Press - 40# both sets of 10 reps and did the 2nd set of bonus reps (went up 4# on 1st set and did the bonus today:))
Dips - 24 with 40# bbl (went up 4#:))
Dbbl Seated Extensions - 25# both sets 12 reps (went 1 more rep on each set)

I really felt so much stronger today. Also, Seasun's Next Step planks were really tough (I think tougher than PUB abs). So if you're ever in the mood for really complex step and tough core work, this is the workout. She also has a bonus in there of double step. I don't have 2 steps yet, but eventually I plan on getting another.

Deanie - You amaze me with your chest weights. WTG! At least your DS likes his teacher. Hopefully he'll make some new friends. It's hard getting used to them growing up. You wind up worrying more because you don't have as much control over them.

Gin/Tracee/Cheryl - Hope you have a great workout today.

Marcy

Good morning everyone.

I wasn't able to get on the computer yesterday but I did do GS BSB. Today I did KPC and enjoyed it. I skipped the official warm up and just started with the workout. To me it feels like her warm up is just to review different punches and I don't need that after doing this workout so many times.

Marcy - Thanks for showing your C&T workout as you did it because I think I'm going to try it that way tomorrow. Maybe I won't be as sore after doing it this week.

Deanie - Your 6th graders actually go to school for half a day for the orientation? That's pretty cool. Our school has a two hour parent and student orientation next Wed. night. I'm so excited; probably more than my ds. Ha!

Gin - hope you had a good workout today.

Tracee

Hi Tracee!

I hope my mix-n-match works for you. Today's workout seemed better than last week's. I think I did too much switching back and forth. Today I did more blocks of exercises but it's still a lot better for me than the original. It's just too exhausting for me to do all the chest work at once. I actually might try KPC the way you did it. So did you start with the intermediate intensity drills (like the flying angels)?

Good Afternoon Ladies!

I am late posting today. I've been going bed later (DH is out of town:( ) and so getting up later. Then I had my annual gyno appt this morning.x(
I took an advanced yoga class yesterday that my instructor teaches at her studio. No a/c in the bldg, just a couple of fans.:p When it is 95 outside, it is quite toasty inside.
Today I did GS C&T and the good news is that I was able to do all pushups on my toes, but the bad news is that I had to go down in weight in almost everything.x( My biceps and abs are definitely my strongest parts, all other parts not so strong.

Deanie--Wow you woke up early today. I guess you needed that coffee, huh?;-) I forgot about doing the mix & match, but since you didn't really care for it, I guess I won't try.
It is tough to let go concerning your kids, isn't it? Each step of independence that they take can be difficult for us, but that is the way it is supposed to be.
Middle school here starts at 9:20 and ends at 4:20!

Marcy--WTG with the great workout!

Tracee--Glad to see you back with us. We missed you! I like the way you did KPC.

Gin:)

Hi Gin!

WTG on the pushups! I still think you should try the mix-n-match, maybe like I did it today with a block of exercises like all chest presses, then maybe do all sets of lying extensions, etc. I just find I have more strength that way because I'm able to rest the muscle group I just worked on for longer and then I'm able to come back stronger. 95 is definitely hot but hopefully it made you more flexible.

Good Afternoon

I am still awake and I have not crashed!!! I am very surprised.

Gin~ Awesome job on the pushups!! Go Gin!, Oh yeah!:) :)Nothing can stop you now!!!The yoga class sounds like maybe you took a "hot yoga" class. My DS would love the 9:20 school start time. To bad for him his is 7:55!!! ha! I got my email from the director today. In house days start tues, at 9:30. I have an hour from when my DS gets the bus till I have to be in work. Thats great. Work is only 1 mile from my house!

Marcy~ Great workout today!!Interesting way to do the mix and match. I still think next week I would prefer to work the muscles to failure with the workouts as produced. Mostly a lazy issue for me; less playing around and thinking in the a.m.

Tracee~ Welcome back chicka! missed ya. I like the way you did KPC, I will remember that for next time. I was way more excited about today than my DS, I'm wondering if that may be a boy thing (not getting too excited) He said he had 1-2 people he knew in his class. When do your boys go back to school? Is your DD going to nursery this year? She's 3 or 4 right?

Deanie

Hi again.

Marcy - Yes, I started with the intermediate drills. It's the section right after the warm up where she starts doing some moves and then she goes into stretches.

Deanie - I agree that it might be a boy thing about not getting too excited. Ha! He'll get his class schedule and his locker combination the night we go so I hope he gets a little more excited trying to find kids in his class that he knows. They start back the day after labor day. My dd is 3 and I'm going to wait a year before pre-school. She already gets the socialization because she goes to daycare so I'm going to wait until she is 4 to get her in a classroom setting.

Gin - Wow! Middle school starts after 9:00, ours starts at 7:45. That is a whole hour earlier than our elementary so it's going to be quite a shock. They get out at 2:30 though so I think the kids like that. Way to go on the pushups, you've made great progress in a short time.

Have a great evening.

Tracee

Hi Again!

Thanks guys for the vote of confidence with the pushups.:+
My sweet SIL called today to tell me about my 12 yo nephew's start of 7th grade. Apparentely they didn't know that he had to choose a sport each season. (private school) Most all of the boys are playing football and have been working out all summer, so too late for that. He doesn't want to play volleyball (mostly 8th graders) and the only thing left is cross country, which he will have to do. He is very smart, but NOT athletic.....so he is quite upset. I wish I were there to help him start running. He is sure he can't do it. I'm going to call tonight to see if I can talk to him about it.:(

Thanks for letting me vent.
Gin

Hi Gin!

Good luck with your nephew tonight. My DH was never into football and he started cross country in HS which led to him doing other sports. He wound up winning best athlete 2 years in a row. He still talks about running and has actually given me a few tips on endurance which worked. 7th grade actually sounds a little early to start football to me anyway.

You can vent anytime.

Marcy

Hey Gin~ Sorry to hear about your nephew. He should give it a chance, there are alot of positive things about running. Its a team sport, but its not. You kinda compete against yourself and others, so you can only go up:) he may find he enjoys it. My DHs neices ended up doing cross country for the same reasons in H.S. and they still do it now in college. Its fun to be a part of something!

to quote Marcy:"You can vent anytime":)
