Cathlete
Good Morning :)

Today was DS yoga. I didn't think I was in the mood for yoga today, but I did it anyway. Turns out I was in the mood for it and got a good workout:) Why is it I have no problem doing the levitaion hold for more than 15 counts with David, but have a problem with Cathe in Core Max 1? Maybe I'm not warmed up enough?

Okay, our "mini vacation" is set. We are going to Philly next Tues and Wed. I will have to rework my workout week to take wed. as my day off. Sad, that was my first thought about my vacation.

Getting antsy for some info on the new dvds. Every morning I check, but nothing so far all this week!! I'm guessing no news is good news and she's working hard on getting them done ASAP!

Hope you all have great workouts/or day off today!
Deanie

PS Excited for Gin~ she must be at the airport by now:)

Good Morning!

Today was Tracey's Core Strength & Conditioning. It was a great workout and I was challenged. It was mostly mat work but she did some good stuff on the ball. Here were the exercises:

Warmup - Swimmers, pushing up into up dog, camels.
Full body crunch - arms overhead, bend knees as you come up; rocket shoots
Isometric lower ab work - legs wider than shoulders, hold an inch off the ground (I forget how many counts - I think 4 sets of 8.
Bicycles - (slow), hold static and keep going higher with body
Knee lifts - knees up lying flat on floor, knee lifts up (not in)
Wide Arm Ab Crunch - contract pelvic muscles (no arms) then contract lower and upper abs with arms
Bicycles with Isometrics
Reverse Crunch - also with twists

Stability Ball
Laying over ball, fists under chin - lift abs away from ball
Full Extension Body Lift - arms overhead crossed
Stability ball planks and pushups (these were tough)
Side lying ab work - leg lifts with both legs stacked; straight arm plank; lift elbow to meet legs; pushups on ball (8); arm extended and lift toward legs; side planks (hips go down & up)
Ab Lifts - hold ball between inner thighs and lift arms up to ball not letting shoulders touch the ground.

I also put in some chinups/pullups. I did 2 full reverse grip chinups, 4 switch grip pullup/chinups (1st pullup got to bar level), last 3 were between 1/2-3/4 of the way, 2 wide grip pullups (these are the toughest for me) - 1 at almost bar level, one at 3/4 and 2 close grip pullups where I went 3/4 of the way up.

Deanie - I have the same problem with levitation holds. I can also do them with David but not for as long with Cathe. I think it actually works better with David for me because my feet are in lotus. Maybe because they're in a locked position it's easier. I don't know but that's my theory. Although I guess being more warmed up can't hurt. I think it's more the positioning of the hands and feet. I don't think Cathe will be announcing anything on the blog before the road trip. I hope she'll put it on the blog around the same time she does the announcement so we'll all hear at the same time. Don't feel bad about your first thought on vacation being your workouts. They were mine too which is why I made sure they had a fitness room wherever we went and a pool. So what will you be doing in Philly?

Gin - You must be on your flight right about now. Have a great time!

Tracee - Hope you're having a nice day and resting up good for our new rotation.

Cheryl - Have a great workout.

BBL. Off to get a 15 min. chair massage.

Hey Marcy~ That workout sounds great. If it weren't for the $crunch with the barmitzvah coming up, I would buy it. I actually just booked the DJ and had to give a nice deposit!! Great job with the chinups/pullups! I think you are right about the blog. I forgot about the road trip (yet remembered Gin was going!LOL) forgot it also affected Cathe!!:7 :7 In Philly: We will be visiting my grandma for lunch on tues, then off to sight see. We are taking the kids to the franklin institute on tues (a science hands on museum) and then on Tues. night we are looking into taking a walking tour of Ben Franklins house, and the liberty bell and whatever else is on the tour. Then on Wed. we will go to constitution hall and Betsy Ross's house and whatever else is there. Then before we leave we will go to Penns landing to see the tall ships. I hope we will have nice weather! Philly is only about 21/2 hours from our home so we can stay late and get alot of sightseeing in. Enjoy your massage!!

Tracee~ Hope you are resting up! Hope to hear from you:)

Cheryl~ Hows the computer situation?

Gin~ I don't think you'll see this but... Have a great time!!

Hey Deanie!

The trip sounds great. Packing a lot in in a short time. I hear you about the $$. We're having a new bathtub put in (actually a bathtub liner (Bath Fitter) in mid-Sept. which is costing us a pretty penny but DH says we needed to do it because we keep getting a consistent leak and no matter how many times he tries to patch it up, it keeps coming back again.

Tracey seems to be my new favorite instructor. I have now done all the ones I bought from her with the exception of Cardio Sweatfest (the hi/lo portion). The kickbox was good and effective but kind of boring and repetitious. Her workouts are also very reasonably priced. I am planning on getting her new workouts since they are so worth it:

She will be "combining the Parts Series (Glute Camp, Strictly Upper Body & Total Body & Stretch) into ONE DVD.

This is great news for you. Not only will you still be getting the exact same workouts, you will be getting more for less money! Instead of buying three workouts for $15 each you can get one DVD with three separate workouts PLUS a whole bunch of premixes for under $20! Pre-sale price for this DVD will be $15.95, regular price $19.95. " If you want to check her out, her website is fitbytracey.com.

Tracey is a challenge for me. Her choreography is complex (more so than Cathe) and fun and her strength moves are different and intense. I was hoping to find something just as challenging as the X (but in a different way) and I think I found it. I have to admit though that Cathe probably has the best produced DVDs on the market and with all the premixes and the presale, I don't think they're unreasonably priced either.

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Marcy~ I just checked out her website!! The weight workout on the ball is incredible. Just being on the ball on my knees would be a workout.(I may have to go downstairs and try that now:) ) I'd be afraid to do weights and me on the ball:) I could see how she is challenging differently than Cathe. She seems to do alot of functional fitness. Working one body part and using your abs for stablility. The one dvd I wanted to view, but couldnn't on the website, was the one you did today. I will have to say, the ab/plank work on the sculpt sweatfest was incredible, and I may try it tomorrow!! Holding the planks, and then lifting limbs one at a time, and then lifting a leg and the oppisite arm!!!!Wowza!! And they played a whole 5ish min. of it, so I would like to try it:) Oh and the jackknifes too!!! Do you have that one?

Deanie

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Yes, that's what I did on Monday - Sculpt Sweatfest (this had the jacknifes). The kneeling on the ball - jillybean said she started out leaning on a doorframe and doing it without weights and then gradually moved away from the door and added the weights in. The pushups on the ball today were tough. They weren't the decline ones with the hands on the floor and legs on the ball. They were with hands on ball and feet on floor - I think these are tougher. I was able to do them but they were challenging. I think Cathe might have done them in her last series but I don't remember which - maybe LIC or Drill Max. When I finally decided to order during the last presale, I got the earlier ones I missed, so I could save on the shipping. She charged $5.00 shipping for 5 DVDs which I thought was pretty good. I think it's $5.00 for as many she can fit in the envelope. If she had to go to the next size, I think it was more for the shipping.

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Deanie - Just wanted to say I felt today's workout was tougher than Core Max 2. I'll have to do Core Max 1 and 3 again to compare them too. What are you doing for tomorrow?

Marcy

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Tomorrow I'm doing Core Synergistics. I hope. I am playing Mahjong tonight with a new group and I don't know how late I will be out, and if I'll be up in the morning in time. I think this will be the last workout I do this week, and then I'm ready to start the new rotation on Monday. I am really looking forward to it (the new rotation). I am thinking of using the same weights as Cathe the first week, even if my charts say I used more, just because its been so long since I've done GS.
Traceys ab work did look hard from your description. I think Core Max 1 or tough abs are the hardest on that dvd. I actually get a little bored with segment 3(its my least favorite)

Deanie

eta: forgot to ask about bath fitters. We need a new shower, and we are not sure if we want to retile, or try bathfitters. Did you shop around? and how are they with prices?

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Deanie - Re Bathfitters:

The tub is costing us $1,378. I think it's an acrylic liner that goes over the existing tub. If we wanted to do the walls too (the liner also goes over the existing walls), it was going to cost about $3,000. There are many options (tiled look, plain), chrome fixtures, gold fixtures, color of tub, etc. We got the Pearl color which was more than just the white but we felt the white was too white and didn't match the rest of the bathroom. You'll usually see bathfitters in most hotels. Maybe they'll have them in your hotel when you go to Philly. We've seen them advertised before and we didn't want to have our tub taken out. To be honest, we didn't shop around but we've always heard good things about them. They had a rep come to the house and measure and see what exactly we wanted/needed. He didn't try to give us something that we didn't need/want.

Re: Core Max - I agree, I probably do Core Max 3 the least. I'll have to try Tough Abs next.

Re: Rotation - I wrote down my weights from last time and from the X. I'll have to figure out where I'm going to start but since I want to include chinups/pullups, I think I'm going to leave out the 3rd set from the back exercises and I'm going to try the mix/match thing as much as possible but I'll have to see if it takes too long.

Marcy

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Marcy~ Thanks.
Re bathfitters: I don't have a tub, just the shower that needs to be redone, and I think even $3,000. is a good price. To get the shower retiled, we are looking into buying the tile ourselves and my friends DH(actually they are seperated so maybe not D!:) ) said he would do it for us, but even so, we were thinking it would be about $3,000.just for the shower(tile and work done), then we need a plumber, friends hubby isn't comfortable soddering, and we would need a new floor. (Did I mention my home is 37 years old?) Its the original shower and tile floor. So we were going to wait till early next year to shop around, and make a decision. I also have heard very good things about bath fitters. I think you got a good price.

Re: Rotation: I forgot about the mix and match thing!!:) I think I will try that the second week, and let the first week be just figuring out the weights.

Re: I liked your re: thingy:)

Have a good evening!

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

Your house is new. My house is over 150 years old! For just the walls, it might only run $2,000. I'm sure you could go on bathfitter.com and find out more info. Good luck and let me know what you decide. Our tub is being done on 9/13 so I'll let you know how it turns out.

WOW! I love that your home is so old!! There is a home not far from here that my DH and I always drive by that is stone and looks at least 100 years old and we love it! We always joke when it goes on sale we would buy it!

RE: ~ * ~ * ~Deanie & Co. ~ ~ Thunderin' Thursday~ * ~ ...

hi ladies,

Hearing about the costs of housing makes me wonder if I'll ever be able to afford a decent house! My sister is doing a lot of renovatoins to her house...most of which have been postponed in order to gather money. It's hard work!

Good luck!

Hey, thanks for all the info about the new workouts. I'm excited to check out this 'tracy chick' haha!

I haven't worked out for the past two days. I've been going from work to school and back. Sleep seems to be a thing of the past. I'm hoping next week will afford me some rest. I'm going on vacation to FL next week, so some of my workouts won't quite follow the schedule...well probably more than that considering I don't have all the DVDs either.

Internet is still on the fritz. I'm at my sister's now. It's the only place I can go and stay up all hours of the night :)

well, good luck with the rest of your workouts...I'm going to check out Tracy's site before I enter school again!
