Deadlift Question

Hi Cathe & Educated Crowd,

I have been doing a lot of gym training these past 10 weeks. Yesterday after my session with my trainer, another trainer came up to me and said "You know, those deadlifts you were doing will make your backside bigger." I have talked to this other trainer in the past and she knows that my bubble butt is the bane of my existence.

What would you recommend? I am 5'1" and currently weigh 130. I have also been doing lots of cardio (5-6 sessions weekly, 45-60 mins at a time), and split weight training 3x weekly.

Is this true? I know that building muscle will help me decrease my body fat in the long run, but I don't want to do it at the expense of making my butt even BIGGER!

Suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Hi Jessica! If you have an area that is more developed than the rest of you, then try to avoid training that area with heavy weight. Don't ignore that body part, simply train it with lighter resistance. This in combination with clean eating and varied cardio should keep the situation in control. Good Luck!
