day of rest

Cathe,

I know that with a busy schedule, when I have a row of consecutive days to exercise, I take full advantage of them. What I would like to know is, how important is it to take a "day of rest" in between workouts. For example, I just got done exercising 9 days in a row using various DVD's from your collection. On my "day of rest", should I do absolutly nothing, or can I maybe do some stretching. What is your typical schedule in regards to resting. Thanks for all you do. You are greatly appreciated.

not cathe but some have just answered a similar post in general discussion. its important for you to rest the body so it can recover from the hard work you have done, which will help with results. also overtraining without giving the body a chance to repair will lead to injury and exhaustion. IMO 5-6 days in a row is abetter then add a rest day and repeat. if you have a chance to do more try something like just core work or just stretching on those "rest" days. i usually fit in yoga and light pilates work on those schedule rest days if i feel like doing something. have you made a schedule of workouts, maybe doing it week by week will help figure out what days you can rest and whats days you can fit in a workout?
