:-( I have awful hereditary dark cirles under my eyes. I use yellow under eye concealer to cover them. Is there anything I can do to minimize these dark circles?:D Thanks!:)

Dark circles can be an indication of health problems such as food allergies/sensitivities. You may want to take a look at the over all picture - diet, sleep habits, etc. I think we're sometimes unaware of how our lifestyle, diet and vitamins (or lack thereof), exposure to environmental toxins and such affect our skin, hair and looks in general.

If you find a solution, let me know, LOL! The very first baby picture of me shows circles already! I think I got mine from my mother's side of the family...last time I saw her, hers were really dark.

I've heard that vitamin K can help reduce dark circles, but I haven't used it consistently enough to know.

I do the concealer thing, too, and I would not leave the house without my concealer, even though I hardly ever wear any other makeup! Even with concealer, there is still a darker area. I haven't found the "perfect" concealer yet: one that covers completely, but isn't cakey or thick. I find that for me, the stick concealers work best.

Yes, dark circles get worse with lack of sleep or illness, or allergies, but some of us poor folks have mom and/or dad to blame as well.

I have found that Origins Eye Doctor has faded the dark circles under my eyes. I did not buy it for dark circles but to keep the delicate eye area moist. I have been pleasantly surprised that the circles are gone. As far as conceler, I like Bare Minerals Bisque (Bare Escentuals). Its a powder that I apply with a soft brush. Blends very well, looks natural and does not cake and flake.

Vickie,

I have a friend getting married in 3 weeks. She has hereditary dark circles. They just won't go away. I'd love to suggest the Origins Eye Dr. to her, but I am just curious - you said that you didn't buy it for dark circles. Does that mean you didn't have dark circles? Thanks! P.S. I will also tell her aobut Bare Minerals Bisque.

I have/had these also. For my whole adult life I have had dark lines under my eyes. I have even had people ask me if I feel okay when I'm not wearing makeup and when I'm actually feeling fine. I have actually noticed these seem to be disappearing over the last 2 weeks and I'm simply amazed. I can only think of 3 things that I have changed over the summer.

1) I started using Natural Advantage skin care products;
2) I started using Bare Minerals makeup; and
3) I have pretty much doubled my water intake. I was never a very big drinker of anything.

I personally think it is probably the water thing. I'm wondering if I was walking around mildly dehydrate since I was not a big drinker. I felt bad yesterday after not sleeping well the night before and it being that TOM and I simply could not believe the darks lines were not showing up more than they were. I am no longer embarrassed to leave the house without makeup as I was before and I love it.

Hi Jillybean!

Yes, I did have dark circles when I purchased the Origins Eye Doctor. They don't tout it as something that will diminish dark circles that was the added benefit when mine disappeared. I use it twice daily; a little bit goes a long way. I can't tell you how long I used it before I noticed the circles were gone; it was a surprise. I've used other products that claim to diminish dark circles that never worked for me.

Take care,
Vickie

I am a Mary Kay representative and had my cousin try out a product for this problem. It is called Mary Kay Lumineyes Dark Circle Diminisher With Vitamin K. She loved it & said it worked very well!

I'd inject Vitamin K straight into my purple/red circles under my eyes if I could. There is a cosmetic procedure for everything these days but dark circles. I sware I'd do it! So, in the meatime, I'll try the solutions listed in this post. Thanks soooo much for everyone's advise.

Vickie,

A question about Bare Minerals/Essentials. I've seen their infomercial and would love to try the product. Do you use a base of theirs? Is so, do you find it is still intact after several hours? What do you think of the product(s)? I'd love to get your input.

TIA

Hi Sue!

I do use the cover-up; I also use the Mineral Veil, but the cover-up (base) would work nicely on its own. I find it looks and feels very natural, evens out the skin tones, does not look or feel cakey and will last all day. I have psorisis and this is the only makeup I have found that will get rid of the redness and not cake on the dry spots that I tend to get on either side of my nose.

The mineral veil, in my opinion, is not necessary, but they claim it seals the base and it offers a little softer look. I'm 45 and my motto is "less is more" and this make-up fits the bill for me.

Hope this helps,

Vickie ;-)

One more question...did you go to a store or did you buy over the phone? There's a store about two hours/hour and a half from us and I'm still trying to decide if I should do that or just buy via phone.

TIA

I went to a store. Take a day trip, treat yourself, that way you can try it and feel it and know what you are buying! :)

Take care and have fun!

I love my Bare Minerals makeup. I bought mine online as there is not a store nearby. I bought mine directly from their website and my package included 2 shades of base of which I used the lightest, 2 different colors that can be used as blush which I absolutely love, the mineral veil which I do like as I think it tones things down some, and 3 different shades for eye shadow that you use all together and is very easy to apply. Oh, and it came with a video with instructions which was kind of helpful. I don't wear makeup every day as I work at home and this stuff is going to last me forever, especially the eye shadow. I'm thinking buy more shades of the eye shadow off QVC as I really like it.

Once you buy the makeup and apply it, if it feels like it is caked on, then it probably is. You will be amazed at how little it takes to cover the face and it looks very natural which is my biggest reason for liking it. I have found that a lot people who don't like the feeling of it at first is because they are using too much. I actually did this myself. :) A tip I got from someone else and is very helpful is to only pull off very little of the paper covering the makeup or use a pin to poke holes in the paper, so that only a very small amount of the makeup comes out. This will help you to not use very much and to help keep you from making a mess.

Sorry so long.
