Dani or anyone else who has done Slim Series

I just got these DVD's today. When you did them, did you do these alone or did you feel you could add on some Cathe cardio?

I am currently taking a break from Cathe for the month of January and am doing a Slim Series, Firm, and yoga rotation and let me tell you, walking has been very difficult this week! I'm sore all over, esp. my lower body! I find SS lacks cardio, even though they call themselves aerobic and weight training workouts, so I'd advise you to add some extra cardio on the days you don't do them. I'm currently doing the Slim Series twice a week, adding a Firm workout once a week, then on the in-between days I do cardio and yoga. Even Deb Siebers recommends fitting in a couple of cardio days while doing a Slim rotation.

Hope this helps!

Interesting workout! What Firm & what type of Yoga are you working into it and how often are you doing those? I have just recently taken a break from Cathe weight workouts and been doing a Firm BSS3 & Cathe Cardio rotation.

I'm going to Vegas in 2 weeks, so I'll be forced to workout in a hotel gym. After I come home I think I'm going to start the Slim Series.

I did a mini-rotation of these for three or four weeks when I first got them, but doing them every day, as they suggest, is definitely overtraining, at least it was for me (and it gets boring rather quickly, as the workouts are all very similar). I also felt that, while my lower body was getting blasted, my upper body needed more heavy-weight work, so I would throw in a Cathe upper body workout.

I would suggest using the SS workouts every other day (with an occasional back-to-back use of Firm it up with one of the others), and using other cardio in between.

I do the slim series everyday with two yoga days (I skipped cool it off). This rotation is easiest for me to keep up with than only doing Slim series a couple times a week. I seem to lose focus doing it that way, so everyone is different. I had great results and my strength did not suffer. I added short(up to 15 min.) running intervals on the treadmill a few times a week.

So my rotation looks something like this.

shape it up-intervals
firm it up
mix it up-intervals
yoga
tone it up
tear it up-intervals
yoga

This was my rotation for this week:

Tone it Up
Express Cardio/Yee's Yoga for Athletes
Shape it Up
Maximum Cardio Burn/Yoga Sculpt
Firms Vol 1
Express Cardio and the yoga from Streamline Fitness

next week:

Firms Vol 2
Reebok Aerostep/Joy of Yoga
Tear it Up
Reebok Power Workout/Fat Burning Yoga
Yoga Zones Flexibility and Tone
CAWT
Firm it Up

As you can see, I'm completely staying away from Cathe this month. I like the Slim Series a lot but I can't do them more than twice a week, so I think mixing them up with Firms, which are similiar, will yield me the results I want without burning me out.

Edited to add: last year when I did a month of nothing but Slim Series I didn't lose any strength or endurance, and I was able to resume my Cathe workouts without a problem!
