Damage Control

Sorry I've been MIA. Just busy with work then my family was sick for about a week. I think we are all on the mend now.

Oh my gosh, I can't believe you are still waiting on your car repair. That is awful. Can you get by with just one car? It would be pretty difficult for us at this time to only have 1 vehicle. Maybe after I retire we can go to one car. I'm the taxi for the girls.

How was book club? What are you reading?

Yes, I would love to meet up in Sedona. Spring is better for me, but I can probably make any time work. It sounds like a nice get away.

I've mostly just been walking, only 4 workouts in the past 2 weeks but 7 days of walking over 3 miles. We've had such nice last the last couple weeks and it was nice to get outside. This week is completely different, cold, rainy, and possible snow in the forecast.

How was your week? Mine flew by. I'm glad you are all feeling better. I think spring colds are so annoying cause you don't want to be in bed all day when it's light out.

Yes! Let's plan a trip to Sedona next spring. What month? March, April, or May? I would prefer March because it's still pretty cold here. What do you prefer? Have you ever been? I'm envisioning some walking, hiking, yoga and relaxing activities-and want it to be warm!

I started up at PT again-this time for quadricep and psoas work. I'm going to a lady from my company instead of my guy. It's cheaper and I wanted to see if someone else had any insight. She's given me more stretches so I'm up to about 30 minutes in the morning and 20 minutes at night. She also wants me to do the strength moves 3 times a week so it's getting tricky fitting everything I want to do in with what I need to do. I'm only seeing her once a week and am taking it week by week. So far was just the evaluation and a few stretches. I really want her to work on the psoas and release it. I did upper body after work Tuesday and then walked to work Friday.

Soccer is back this weekend so we're getting our fill! It's still cold enough here for a fire so it was basketball and fire last night. Book club was great-I had everything ready and thought it was at 3 PM, everyone showed up at 2 PM. I was just getting out the shower, but they helped put stuff out and it went fine. Senior moment? Nah-I just got the time mixed up since we usually meet at 3-although I think it's going to be 2 from now on. 3 PM was cutting into people's dinner plans.

We read a Polish author last month and this month it's Jodi Picoult's latest. It's a nice escape to get lost in another world!

We got a date to take the car in (it still works, just the back/side panel needs replaced)! I would like to go to one car someday as well, but DH feels trapped and that he always wants a reliable car around if the other one goes. So for now we have two.

Hope you are having a nice weekend.

It's finally Saturday! I had a hectic work week with lots of deliverables. I had some technical issues so had to spend some time on the phone with help desk getting it all sorted out. We've gone to quarterly meetings with our manager. Kind of like a quarterly review where you go over all of your accomplishments. My meeting is next week. It's so much easier keeping track of everything when it's done quarterly.

I only walked around the lakes twice this week and did legs yesterday. I'm having some pain in my leg, it tends to come and go. It's getting worse, not sure what it is. It's starts between the inner thigh and hip flexor and shoots down the inner thigh. I don't know what it is or how to resolve it. Today I'm planning on STS UB1 and abs.

It's nice here today, so I'll probably do some yard clean up and maybe even bring out the outdoor furniture.

I had a dermatology apt and they removed this dry patchy area that has been getting bigger. It used to the size of a pencil tip, by the time it was removed it a little bigger than a pencil eraser. The amount she took was more than that. I should have the results in a week or two. For now, I have to keep it covered with vaseline and a bandaid. This is the 3rd spot I've had removed from my face. This spot was different though. I had originally wanted the dr. to laser it off. She said it could be squamous cell and wanted it tested. Hopefully it is negative and they don't have to remove any more. I'm already worried about having a scar there.

I'm also dealing with spreading psoriasis. I'm so frustrated by it. I use a medicated shampoo and have medication for the skin. This happens with the change of the seasons when we have swings in temperature. It gets pretty bad in late fall, then again in spring. I've been avoiding oral medication because of all the side effects.

March or April sound good for Sedona. I have never been to Arizona except to pass through the airport. How is your PT going? Sounds you like you managed your bookclub just fine. These things happen and it not the end of the world.

Any plans for the weekend?

My weekend was full of soccer, playing cards online with Dan, exercising reading and just cooking, wash, etc. Saturday was my lower body routine with stretching and strengthening, Sunday was stretching and upper body.

My new PT wants me to strenghthen 3x a week so it's Thursdays, Saturdays and Mondays for that. Upper body is Sunday and maybe during the week on Tuesday or Wednesday. Last week I went to the pool Thursday and did 20 minutes so just counted that for upper body. It's hard fitting everything in-especially days I work. I find I just want to come home and stretch and not work out! I walked Saturday and Sunday for just 20 minutes each day with my vest. Sunday my foot was ok, but Saturday it was hot and red and I had to take pain meds. Maybe the strengthening and walking together are too much. Today we're walking home from taking the car to finally get the body work done on it after the accident and then I'll do my PT exercises. So I'll see how the foot is after all that today.

My mindset for all this body work is that I'm managing my condition. I don't know if I'll ever feel like there is nothing wrong with my back/hip/leg/foot again. I do feel better not taking the Fosomax. My ribs and spine are not aching anymore. I'm getting most of my calcium from food and using the vest and that's my management for my bones! I do have an appt. with an endocrinologist in August (first available appt) to discuss other treatments.

I have never been to Arizona either. I should have researched a bit before asking you about it. Do we fly to Phoenix and then drive to Sedona? I kind of wanted to just fly somewhere, not drive and then go to a place where they have activities and food! Kind of like a spa trip. I have heard people talk about how beautiful Sedona is and thought it sounded nice! We could meet in Phoenix and then go from there somewhere. I'll do some research and see what I can find.

Well, DH is saying we need to get the car down to the shop. I better go get dressed!

Glad your work is going ok and you're getting some workouts in. If the skin thing is cancer, they've caught it early and you're on top of it. I have had some squamous on my left cheek and have to keep a close eye on it. Another issue to manage!
