Damage Control!!!

Nice job with your step w/o! X10 is tough IMO. Can you do Bi's and Tri's? I still have to be careful with heavy chest work and mostly avoid dips. It doesn't sound like stepping bothers your hip. Yay.

Yesterday I did BR w/o (legs focused circuit) and PLB at lunch using 45/50/55 as my weight increments. My legs were jello. I also got in my steps after dinner. Today I plan on a BR w/o in the morning and chest & triceps at lunch, probably from S&S.

I haven't prepped much for this week. Last night I made the Lentil soup. It made a huge pot, probably 4-6 servings I would think. The chia pudding is so good. I'll probably make the brussels sprouts later today. Let me know how the curry dish is. I don't like yellow curry, but may sub the red curry paste. My refrigerator is packed and I'm looking forward to having it cleaned out a bit, and so is DH. It wouldn't be so bad if the rest of my family ate this way too.

What are you up to Beth?

No workout today. Had an early meeting and a dentist appt. at lunch. I heard this loud pop when I was brushing my teeth and then pain in a tooth. I initially thought something with my orthodontia had broken. The ortho said everything looked fine. The pain wasn't subsiding so I went to the dentist. He thinks I may have cracked my tooth.

I'm looking for someone to clean my house. It just isn't getting done good enough. It's just so stinkin' expensive, or to me it is anyway. The gal that gave me a quote today was $150. With a 20% tip, that's $180. I might see if the neighbor teenagers want some extra money.

Good morning! I worked Wed. and Thurs. and haven't made it here till now. Wed. I went to the pool for a workout and Thursday was a rest day. Just when I don't think work can get any worse...it does. So frustrating since I enjoy actual job-just not all the BS that goes with it. DH says to read my Leo Babauta web page and learn to deal with the stress and anxiousness and all the BS at work. Easier said than done. Exercise really helps me with stress!

The curry recipe is good-I subbed sweet potatoes for the white potatoes. I think the chili paste would be great! DH and I like curry though so that's how I made it. It makes a lot-like the bar-b-que lentils- and you'll have extras! In my quest to eat more veggies I put the dishes on spaghetti squash or baked sweet potatoes a lot. This cleanse has really helped me see that having quality snacks is instrumental to my energy levels. Plus a little maple syrup goes an long way and is ok to have in my diet!

Good luck finding a house cleaner. My DH wouldn't trust anyone. We're off to test drive some cars today-I took today as my Easter holiday to have a 4 day weekend. I'm going to try 4ds kickbox/legs/abs this morning!

Beth

How did the test drive go? Did you buy a new car?

I interviewed the house cleaner, she seems okay. I'm still on the fence about hiring her. Since I'm home, I not worried about her taking anything. I may give her a trial run.

I'm going to finish off my veggies and add eggs, chicken and fish back into my diet. ITA, healthy snacks really help me out too. Since doing Whole 30, focusing on how I feel after eating is second nature to me. Grains, beans, bread, and sugar all makes me feel yucky. My DH's cousin was over last night and he's following the Ketogenic diet plan. This is where they replace carbs with fats (no grains/breads etc), trying to keep your carbs around 20 grams/day-similar to atkins or paleo. He's lost weight and said his arthritis and exzema are much better. Learning to eat for our particular health situation is so important. I'm learning a lot by doing these cleanses, whole 30 and just really listening to my body.

Yesterday was an active rest day because I was too lazy all morning. I walked for an hour and finally got the lawn mowed...and still didn't reach my step count. Friday I did XT CLB with the 10lb vest and S&S BSB. Today will be a BR w/o and C&T and some abs. I'm also cleaning out my closet and getting rid of clothes I no longer wear. If I buy something new, I get rid of something.

Back to report Imax 3 and Total Body Giant sets is done!! I've gone through my closet and am waiting for DS2 to get up and give me the clothes he's donating too. Going through the girls room and getting rid of some of their baby toys too. I'm so much more productive when I workout in the morning! :)

Hello!

I can't believe how many double workouts you do! Where do you get the energy?!

We had a really busy weekend. We test drove around 9 vehicles and decided on the VW Tiguan. It has 23,000 miles, the driver's seat can be raised up and down, DH has enough leg room, and the price was good. Unfortunately, the knob to adjust the driver's side mirror snapped off (not by us) and the dealer is replacing it. We'll pick it up hopefully today, or maybe Thursday (my next day off). It a light color-not white, maybe bone color? It's only 4 cyl. but I did not feel like it was too big for me to handle or would blow off the road. DH is happy to have a dependable car again.

Yesterday was biking and cards. Sat. I just did 30 min. on the Elliptical. My legs were sore from 4DS on Friday. I'm kind of missing the menu already being planned out for me. I had oatmeal for breakfast. Last night I finished up the curry dish. I have a dentist appt. in 1/2 and hour and then physical therapy at 10:30 today. It's DS1's 24th birthday today-can hardly believe he's a grown man. Doing my wash and getting ready for the week. I've already decided to get some corn tortilla's and make that black bean dish. Thanks, again for the recipes. I'm finding I like beans better than meat for protein.

Beth

Well I totally went off the rails with my eating today. I had my normal post w/o protein shake with frozen spinach. Then I had a banana and almond butter. Not too bad yet...then I had cinnamon raisin toast (so good). I don't normally eat bread. For lunch I had shredded beef and green chile and dinner was ham & bean soup. In addition I've had 4 pieces of dark chocolate. I need a plan and fast.

I did a BR w/o this morning and walked at lunch.

Well, I love cinnamon raisin toast too! Maybe you needed some carbs for all the workouts? I went to PT Monday and my hip is really good. It still tires easier and takes longer to bounce back than my left hip, but at least it's not locked again. My shoulder-he worked on it some more and said to keep doing the home program he gave me. No official workout-just an hour and a half at PT. Tuesday I had a terrible day at work and ended up getting a migraine headache. I even called in sick for today. I woke up with the headache and hope it goes away without taking more medication. It's very easy for me to under eat when I'm stressed so I really didn't eat much yesterday. I don't even know what I've got planned for today. I talked to my director of nursing yesterday about changing from 6-2 to 2-10 shift. She's going to give me a trial run at it on the next schedule. We'll see. How is your week going?

Beth

hmmm, my last post isn't here. Congrats on the new car, what fun! I love my Rogue, and you will love your Tiguan. It is just the right size for me! Happy Birthday to your DS!! Sorry to hear about your headache. Sometimes you just need to take a break. Hope you are better now. Why do you want to change your shift? Is that so you will work with different people? I think the post cleanse document has meal planner and shopping list template. You would have to make your own meal plan though.

You asked about my double workouts. Well I have a desk job and sit all day. I try to do a morning w/o to get my metabolism going and wake myself up. It also helps me eat better when I work out. Lunch is an opportunity to get up and move a bit, so I take advantage of that time to do weights or walk (and call DS1). I have 2 10lb vests that broke. The strap broke on one and the other got a whole in it and leaked all over. I'm going to take one to the shoe repair/alterations and see if they can fix the strap. DH is going to duct tape the other one. Still dealing with a few extra pounds that won't seem to budge. You can't exercise away a poor diet.

My 27 yr old told me again...been saying this since he was 18...that he was moving out. We'll see. Not sure if mentioned that DH doesn't want to move or even consider moving right now. I'm so frustrated. We've decided to finish up the master bath-tearing out our over-sized jetted tub and putting in a walk in shower. We already put down the deposit on this. We are getting some estimates on replacing the flooring in the whole house. I would like hardwood, but fear it will be way too expensive. It'll probable be some kind of engineered hardwood, and DH wants carpet in the bedrooms. I have wood in my kitchen now, but is the old narrow oak planks and I want the more modern wider planks and a darker color. We are also going to get some estimates on remodeling the kitchen. We don't want to go overboard, but some of this stuff would need to be done to move anyway. If we wait until 55 to move, we can look again at the 55 and older community I really like. They allow so many of age 45 and older if you build new in their community.

Hi Diana,

I feel your frustration with your DH. I don't think mine really wants to move either. We go round and round about fixing up the house. We did get a new storm door put on the front door earlier this year and had the heater fixed. It wouldn't be so bad to keep fixing this place up if we made it a place to age in.

I heard on the news the other night that more 18-34 year old's live with their parents than ever before.

Work was another nightmare yesterday-10.5 hours. I am so frustrated. Woke up in the middle of the night with a bad headache. I'm trying to keep going. I've only worked out twice this week. I cry everyday and feel like I'm losing it. Eating has been fine-like I said I can't eat much when I'm stressed. Hoping to get to the pool tonight so at least I'll have 3 workouts this week!

What are your weekend plans?

Beth

I'm so sorry you are struggling at work. I actually left my job of 24 years because I was coming home crying everyday. I simple wanted to be treated like the others on my team. We live in a 2 story with a basement, laundry in the basement. It just isn't feasible for us to stay in the house for retirement. Although, DH has discussed building out along the back of our house. Adding a master bed/bath, moving the laundry room upstairs, adding an office, a pantry and expanding our family room. That just sounds like too much work and money.

Yesterday ended up being a rest day. With the ortho appt in the morning and work deadlines for yesterday, I just couldn't fit it in. We had the left over ham and beans for dinner last night. It tasted so good, but the scale was up 3lbs today. I'm guessing just water from all the salt. I'm drinking plenty of water and tonic from the cleanse to flush it out.

This morning I did a BR w/o and STS legs. The rest of the day will be going through more stuff to take to Salvation Army. We never got around to it last weekend. We decided to give the cleaning lady try. She's coming on Tuesday. In the mean time, we need to de-clutter and put stuff away. We aren't really very good at that.

How are you spending your weekend?

bbl

Hello!

I consider it a major victory that I did not cry today. Weekends are always a little easier because I don't have people going out to appointments and there is not as much therapy. So I'm not trying to get everyone done at once (which is when I get overwhelmed). Working this weekend. Got out at 3:30 and went to the pool for a 1/2 hour. Looking at the workout manager I did 2 bike rides, 1 pool, and one circuit from the Terminator dvd (gauntlet). So not too bad. My endurance is really low though-the bike rides were very strenuous for me. I need to get back up to speed-still only comfortable walking at 3.1 mph on treadmill. Ideally I'd like to get to 4.0 and have an incline. I have so much to work towards! It definitely helps my stress so I'll be trying to do more than 4 days next week.

Our house is not set up either to retire in. Our laundry is in the basement (no railing on the steps), no bed and bath downstairs, and plaster walls (with minimal insulation). Yeah-giving the cleaning lady a try! Good motivation to de-clutter!

We're taking DS1 out for his birthday tonight. He bought our car and has his own car insurance now! Baby steps! I work tomorrow then am off Monday and Tuesday. I'm getting my hair done Tuesday and may go shorter-it's in knots at the ends. I may even try bangs again. In a rut and want to look and feel better!

Beth

How's it going today? The gauntlet is a great workout. Just do what you feel like doing. It's much easier to stay motivated if you are doing something you enjoy. I'm excited about getting my house cleaned. My fear is that I will love it and want to keep her all the time. We are going with a trial for every other week. I told her to focus on the bathrooms the first time.

I did a BR w/o and LIHI BSB's. I'm getting bored with RWH weights so will probably start using other discs instead. Then I gathered up a for me things and took the stuff to the Salvation Army. I just got back from grocery shopping and have a bit of laundry to do.

The BR gal posted some 3 ingredient snacks. I thought I'd share the recipes with you.

Mug Cake
1 Banana
1 Egg
2-3 Tbs Cacoa powder

Mix all ingredients in a blender. Rub coconut oil on bottom and sides of coffee cup (just enough to prevent sticking) Pour into coffee cup. Microwave for 1-2 minutes. I'm actually eating this right now and it is very rich and not very sweet.

Oatmeal/Raisin Cookies
2 Bananas
Handful of raisin (can use nuts or seeds if you like)
1 Cup oats
Pre heat oven to 350
Mash bananas, add raisin and mix together, add oats and continue mixing. Spoon on to non stick baking dish (covered with parchment paper). Bake for about 30 minutes.

No Bake Granola Bars/Pancake
1 Cup blended oats
3 Scoops protein powder of choice
1/2 to 1 C milk of choice (almond, coconut, rice, hemp, etc)

Mix the oats and protein together Slowly add milk and stir. You want it to be the consistency of thick pancake batter. Pour into a pan and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes. It is ready to eat after it sets up.

Protein Balls
2 C blended oats
1/3 C maple syrup
16 oz almond butter

Add all ingredients to blender and mix. Add a bit of water if needed. Roll into balls, place on plate and refrigerate.

Banana Ice Cream
2 frozen bananas
2 Tbs peanut butter
1 Tbs cacao

Add all ingredients to blender. Add milk if too thick and continue mixing. Pour into a bowl and enjoy.
