Damage Control Week of April 17

Good Morning.

D18/abs/cardio on tap for today but it's not looking all that promising. I woke up late (9am!), feel like I'm in a coma still 45 mins later AND have to be ready to head out w/DS to go see Annie probably before 2pm. Not sure I'll find the energy for all of that exercise before that. I'm gonna roll with it. If nothing else maybe I'll do a short cardio and abs. I can do D18 tmrw and then on to my active recovery week! :D

Diana, You were busy enough y'day. So was I but I still actually had time to sit and watch some of Toy Story with DS and DH before I went out last night. Had fun. Had some drinks and had to use my activity points that I'd earned so far this week to account for them in WW. I don't feel bad about it though cause when I got on the scale it had dropped like a rock in the pond. I am sure it won't stay this low but I'd be lying if I said it didn't make happy to see it even for one day. Scale hasn't even gotten close to this weight in many many MANY months! I always eat dinner off of a smaller plate at to control my portion size. It works well for me. As for eating a big breakfast, I really don't but I eat a snack and what I call breakfast and it keeps me satisfied. I usually have a snack after my work out and then eat something else a few hours later. It works for me. When I used to eat a big breakfast after my work out, I'd still want a snack before lunch. This way, I eat less and still feel satisfied. Wierd? Yeah, that's me. :p

Good Morning,

This anti-swelling medication makes me so quesy. I'm waiting for that feeling to pass before I head downstairs for a cardio & abs w/o. I'm thinking of putting in one of the new Asylum dvd's. No time like the present to start the rotation.

I have to pack up the girls' easter stuff and get it mailed out today. I also have to write a resume, package DS's fundraiser stuff...etc. On day's like this I wish I had a part time job. At least I'm good with prioritizing!

Wendy-glad the scale was kind to you today! I can seem to get below a certain weight and it's really pissing me off. I do eat fairly healthy most of the time but have some poor habits that negate my efforts. It's a work in process. Did you see that AB-Manda took first in a bodybuilding contest? That's so cool!!

Well, no work out for me today. Not even cardio. It's okay, it makes my rest day only 1 day early and it was rather ez to adjust my schedule around it. I'm just too darned tired. I will be gone all afternoon since I am taking DS to see a show. By the time we get back it'll be time for a quick dinner and I know I won't want to exercise afterwards either.

Diana:: Yup, I read about Amanda on FB. I wanna see the winning pics! Hopefully she'll post some! Yeah, I hear you on the part time job. I would love to work 3 eight hour days per week. I think that would be perfect! I have my downfalls with food/drink as well. I think everyone has atleast ONE "achillies heel". Just gotta work on keeping under control as much as possible but it can be tough, I know.

I finally got my butt in gear and did Agility and Speed, the first Asylum w/o. The series comes with an agility ladder and a jumprope, both of which are used in the this w/o. Although I think you can do most of it without either tool I did. My feet kept hitting the ladder and getting all messed up etc. I hung it up so that all the kinks from being folded will work themselves out. I had to pretty much take a break between each exercise to see how to do the next move....that I followed that up with 40/20.

It's after 2pm and I'm just now eating breakfast...no wonder I was starving. I made scrambled eggs with 1 egg and 3 egg whites and 1 C spinach. 1/2 C oatmeal cooked in 1C almond milk with 1 tsp almond butter...delicious!

My eyes are looking better, the skin is very tight and dry. Not sure how or if I will even try to cover it up for tomorrow. The medicine is kind of like vaseline or neosporin so I would think it would just take off the makeup anyway.

Wendy-sometimes you just need to take that rest day when needed. That's why I don't plan my rest days. As it is, I rested on Thursday and Friday. Chocolate is my downfall, although I did have 2 mojito's last night. It would be so much better if I didn't like sweet drinks!:p

Diana,

Rest days that are unplanned bother me for one main reason...I am completely anal about my work out schedule and lots of times whatever schedule I've worked out will get messed up if rest unexpectedly and that annoys me to no end. A pet peeve of mine. Other then that, I am fine with it. Today I lucked out. The fact that the rest day didn't mess anything up made the decision to take it an easy one.

The WW site has an area where they compare several mixed drinks and mojito was just about the lowest points of all of them so you really are not doing too badly!

We are back from seeing Annie and I am eating leftovers from dinner last night as I type this since DH ate before he came home and DS isn't hungry yet.

The show was pretty good. Joey liked it. :)

Man am I tired. Gonna be early crash night for me. A glass of wine and out cold I will be!;)

BBITAM!

Good Morning.

So y'day's scale reading was a fluke as I thought it might be but the scale is still registering a loss so I am thrilled regardless!!!! :)

I did D18 this morning and now I am on to my active recovery week! WOOT~ :D Felt a little less strong on some exercises today so the recovery must be here at the exact right time.

Off I go to pack lunches.

BBIAB.

Good Morning Ladies,

I've decided on Intensity this morning. I still want to get through all the new Asylum w/o's, but today is not the day. After looking at the rotations a little closer, the Insanity/Asylum hybrid looks good. It's pretty much one or the other each day, not both. There are a few days when 2 w/o's are called for, but I think I could manage those.

We are going MILs for Easter Dinner and I was asked to bring dessert. I'm going to peruse my WW cookbook and the website for a couple of yummy desserts to take.

Wendy-sorry the scale didn't stay where you wanted it. My weight is up and down on a daily basis but stays within a couple pounds either way. I just can't seem to get below a certain number...frustrating! What do you have planned for your active recovery week?

Laura-how was your weekend? We had nice temps for the weekend, but will have rain all this week. The lawns should be turning green soon.

Hi to all that follow!

Diana:: I knew the scale reading on sunday morning had to be a fluke. It was way too low way too fast to be for real. This morning's seems more realistic. Like I said, it's still a loss so I am very pleased. :) Intensity is a good choice for a work out! I love it. Need to do it again. Maybe this week? Not sure it qualifies as active recovery but what the hell! LOL :p
I am going to my inlaws this year for Easter. Should be fun. I want to cook something healthy for my son's family B'day party this year but not sure which direction to go in...real food, dessert, etc. Something to think about.

Hi Ladies,

Intensity is done. I only did through the Hi HIIT due to time. It's such a fun w/o! I'm actually listening to a conference call right now. I should probably go get dressed and get ready to head in to work as soon as this call is over.

MON

 Well - passed a kidney stone FRI night - felt like I was beat to H### and back SAT - then ystdy woke up early and felt great - then WHAM it hits again - I HAVE ANOTEHR FREAKING STONE!!! think it is the multi vitiman I am taking - it has calcium and green tea in it - didnt think it was enough to cause a problem .. but obviously it is .. .. I may end up calling specialist and getting them to run some more test on kidney function ..??

I feel ok today - guess it is a good thing - heck I was called in to work a different office this morning  UGH!!! Never fails tho!

Wendy - WTG on the weight loss - hey so you are liking the WW site ?? if you find a low point (low fat and low sugar) desssert for Easter recipe - shoot me a copy - gonna forward to VBF -

Di - so how are the eyes doing today?? were you able to wear makeup?

Well my friend that has been battling cancer is back in town - and I dont think her prognosis is good - but will be glad to see her. I have another friend that is having a lumpectomey this morning - and my other friend's grandmother died this morning- :( - so much going on - keep my friends in your prayers!!!

OK .. I brought BBL today - may try to fit in a short w/o at lunch - I will have tyo hurry to balance and close to get back into town to teach - but I am going to try - may be a little late to class - will be circuit class!!! OK .. better run .. have a great one!;)

LauraT:: Oh those kidney stones must be awful to have to deal with!!!:( I don't deal much with making any kind of dessert but if I happen to I will let you know. If anything I would do it for son's party next month. Diana is going to be looking for something to make for Easter though so she might be able to help you out sooner. TYVM re the weight loss. It's very encouraging. I'm super excited! Yes, I love the WW plan and the site! I am still learning my way around the site but have been able to pick up on the basics of it pretty easily. I am signed on to the site almost all day long for easy access if I need to add/delete anything. :p I always thought counting points would be a total PIA but it's not too bad and once you get familiar with the points of the foods you eat most often you can practically add a full day's worth of eats together in your head w/o having to check the WW site for every point-I am working on mastering this ability. ;) IDK what to do about Easter though. I can't possibly record that day accurately.

Diana:: This is one of the beautiful things about Intensity. It's broken up into smaller segments like Step, Max Step, HiiT Hi and HiiT Lo so it's ez to cut it short if you need to w/o feeling guilty b/c there is a definite end to each segment. I don't feel like I'm stopping in the middle and all of the segments are a great work out! :)

Hi ladies,

I'm getting very frustrated today...so decided to take a break and see what everyone is up to.

Wendy-I think Intensity is my new favorite w/o. Glad you are liking WW. The site is pretty good and they have tons of recipes.

Laura-The eyes are doing better but are still pretty red. The skin is very dry and I have to keep them moist at all times. It's like when your skin is sunburned and you just keep putting lotion on the skin that will eventually peel off anyway. I have a training class W-F, so I'm hoping I can wear a bit of makeup by then. I have another follow up apt tomorrow night so I'll find out then.

Lori-did you make it to your destination? Guess I'll have to check FB to keep up with you.

Hi Jacque & LauraR!

Good Morning.

After many rounds of changing my mind, I finally decided on MMA: Boxing for this morning. :D I wore weighted gloves and did the entire work out including the abs. Very time efficient and fun sweat! Love this w/o. Hadn't done it in ages!

Diana:: I am backlogged with recipes from Skinny Taste and Cooking Light that I printed out and now need to make and I have already been checking out the WW recipes as well though I haven't caved and printed one out yet. I will soon enough though, I am sure! :p

BBL!

afternoon ./.

UGH .. meetings all day! But it was good meetings - and GREAT HEALTHY food - which I was SURPRISED at .. .. man it was good!!!! YESTERDAY >> UGH I didnt balance and got out late - so class started 15 min late - ugh - what a freaking day - but as sore as I was - I banged out circuit class w/some new moves!! and i am STILL sore - crap my quads have never been this sore EVER

Wendy - WTG on the MMA - hey I gave coworker another suggestion for her lower body - BBL!!! I know I am MEAN  :p I have her doing her cardio (power walking and bike) in the PM combined w/a BBL (bumbum or high and tight) at lunch - then the next day - light cardio (bike or cardio ax) at lunch and Cathe or Bob that PM :D that should work the H### out of her lower body and burn some MAD CALORIES!!!

DI - wow - so the recovery is more than what I was thinking it is gonna be - take your pics and let me know when you post them

Wendy... speaking of pics .. didnt think about my lat explosion this weekend - stupid kidney stone episode and all - I will try to get it this weekend!

OK .. soooooo tonight is mish mosh class - IF I can get these SORE OLD legs to moving  :p OK . have a great one!;)

Good Morning All.

BBC Butt + Legs Cardio Only this morning + Abs/Stretch from MM and the stretch from GS BSB as well b/c I am soooo sore from MMA: Boxing y'day!

BBIAB!

Hi Ladies,

I'm in an offsite training class the rest of this week. Since I need to be there early today, my workout may happen tonight instead of this morning. Weight training should be on the agenda, but now that I've started this IA I may just run with it. These are shorter w/o's and I need to add on some running.

Yesterday I did IA Vertical Plyo....OMG, loved this workout and am looking forward to doing it again. You use bands in this w/o. You do air jacks and power jacks, with the band around your ankles. It has a upper body work with the bands too while doing cardio. Some of the moves were pretty tough for me....but this workout is much easier than Agility & Power IMO.

My hr rep scheduled a meeting with me and my boss to discuss my annual review comments and do the '"card sort". It is for next Friday. I basically put in my review I'm expected to do similar work as others on my team who are at a higher grade level. I also mentioned that I did all the steps required of me to get a promotion...yet didn't get one. I did request a follow up meeting, but thought it would be with my boss, not HR. I guess they really do read all those comments.

Wendy-wow, you are into some tough cardio. I remember thinking the BBC cardio was really hard and I haven't done it in forever.

LauraT-had another follow appt last night. It is still a little pink but I can wear makeup to cover it up now. Although it may be tough, your coworker should start seeing results soon and that will be all the motivation needed to keep it up! You are a little sadistic....good thing we all are!!:p

Hi LauraR, Lori and Jacque!!!

Diana:: Yes the BBC cardios ARE tough but they are short (about 20 mins a piece) so it was perfect for me this morning. I am happy to be re-discovering them! I want to do the cardio from the chest w/o now before the week is out and I'll have done all of them once. My original plan for this morning was Athletic Step but I didn't get my butt moving fast enough. I can't believe you are saying BBC cardio is tough but yet you are doing Insanity Asylum! Yeah- you are doing the tougher cardio by a long shot!!!! Good luck with your hr meeting. I hope it provides the results that you are seeking. Oh and I made an easy yummy low point (3) dinner last night if you are interested! I took a 3.5 oz tilpia filet and cooked it in a pan using pam cooking spray. Meanwhile I had about 3.5 ounces of frozen mixed pepper strips sauteeing in another pam with the cooking spray and some minced garlic. Once everything was ready I put the fish on a plate and threw the peppers on top and YUM! And you can make it in olive oil instead of the spray if you want to add some healthy fats to it (and a couple extra points)! :)

LauraT:: BBL is effective but not nearly as gut wrenching tough as Cathe's lower body endurance stuff. I consider that choice being NICE to your coworker! LOL I need to sneak BBL back in on my 2nd leg day again at some point. That and Tonique but I'm having too much fun playing with Squeeze and Booty Barre right now! :D

Athletic Step, 2.5 min prone plank/20 hip lifts per side + STS Ext. Stretch....DONE! :D

I was last to post last night so I'm all caught up with personals.

BBL!

Good Morning Ladies,

No workout to report for yesterday....or this morning. I need to run into the office before heading over to my training class. DS is sick and now DH and I are getting it to. I have a sinus headach and a sore throat...and it only feels like the beginning of it.

Wendy-Your w/o sounds great. I haven't AS or SM in a long time. At first I didn't like that they were a bit shorter. Now I actually enjoy those shorter w/o's because they leave time for abs or even doing wt work for one body part. Actually, all you ladies and this checkin has made me open my mind to mish moshes, shorter w/o's, longer w/o's etc.

Laura-What kind of torture do you have planned for your class?

Diana:: I love the slightly shorter cardios exactly for the reason you mentioned re being able to do abs, etc w/o needing any extra time. I also love the shorter cardio for adding on after an hour long weight work out on weekends or splitting a one hour work out session between weights and cardio during the week when I don't have extra time to spend. Then there is also the variety factor of being able to string 2 shorter cardios together! They really are super versatile and well worth it. :) Sorry you are getting sick. Try taking some airborne/extra vitamin c and getting some extra sleep tonight. Maybe it will help.
