** Damage Control TGIF **

Good Morning!

My day is kinda all over the place.Normally I would go for my run first thing in the a.m but I thought it was going to be warm like yesterday so I set up a playdate for DS instead. But what do you know...its cloudy and looks like its going to rain! My running partner called last night but I was asleep...she may have wanted to tell me when the best time for a run was.
I also need to get a leg workout in...I may do that soon.

Jacque** So I am assuming you are going to go by the higher cal range? LOL I know I would. I haven't counted cals in a while. I have no clue what I take in....but I think its to much these days!

Diana** Oh lots of plans for the weekend! My SIL wants to do CABS tobight and I have a bacherlotte party tomorrow night.....so only 1 drink for me tonight.

I should get my day started I suppose....I am the first one up with DS again!

Lori:)

Hi ladies,

I did personals last night so go check them out if you haven't already. I'm up pretty early considering I have the day off. I was planning on going for a run and should be up to it after another cup of coffee or so...I'm also going to take a look at Jillians 30 Day shred that still has the wrapper on it.

I expect it to be low key day around here. Everyone is home but pretty lazy. It's kind of making me mad because I need the kids and DH's help to get a few things done. Hopefully I can get DH on my side and take care of these nagging chores.

It's only 64 and cloudy...perfect for a morning run.

Lori-Oh yeah, I forgot I read about the bachelorette party. So you have a weekend of CABs planned.:D

I'll bbl later to see what everyone is up to.

Good Morning Chicas!

After driving DS up to my MIL's, DH and I headed down the street for a couple of drinks. I chose to drink Smirnoff Ice. What a mistake at 200+ calories a bottle! I think I had 3. More then enough!

Today's work out plan is a 3 mile walk and full body weights. Thinking Cathe or Jari at the moment. Will decide later...

Lori
...I am ALWAYS the first one up...I get up BEFORE DS so that I can have peace and quiet with my coffee and my computer before all hell breaks loose! :p

Diana:: OH NO! What's up with the A/C in the house!? You need to get that fixed PRONTO! How was class last night? Any plans for the holiday? I didn't open up any new work outs y'day, btw. The KB work out I did was already opened and I had used it already so don't feel guilty girl! LOL I can't wait to hear what you think of 30 Day Shred though. I love it. It's TOUGH! I definitely use heavier weights then they do in the video though and you'll probably want to as well.

Jen:: I hope you decide to run that race this afternoon! Have you ever run a race before? They are fun. I always get nervous though. We should bring our pedometers to the casinos with us in August! If they are huge, we should meet our goal! :D Loved the icecream justificiation! It's all good! We all work hard so we can eat the good stuff now and then! :) Sorry about the enabling. I'm bad. I know. Just ignore me! ;)

Laura:: Funny/sad kid story for ya-I had promised DS that he could stay at school later y'day because they were having icecream after nap time and he wanted to be there for it. I asked the teacher when to come pick him up and she said 3pm. Well, we actually went there early because we wanted to get him up to my MIL's and try to avoid rush hour/holiday traffic so we show up at 2. Well, icecream wasn't even being served until 3. When DS saw us he started to cry because he was going to miss the icecream. :( It wasn't the bratty I'm not getting my way whiney cry that makes ya wanna strangle 'em (LOL) but a cry that actually made DH and I feel so bad for him that we left him there for another 2 hours so he could have his icecream. We wanted to be on the road to MIL's by 2:30 but instead I was pulling away from my house with him at 5:30 to bring him up there! The things you'll do for kids!:p

Jacque:: I am 5'3" and weigh 130 pounds. I figured out my BMR to best of my ability and came up with 1342. I have a hard time believing that yours would be lower then that unless age makes a big difference. I don't really know. I am having trouble getting the last few pounds off as well as you know so I feel your frustration. I personally can't get below 1450 calories/day and I can't eat like that for more then a day or 2 at a time. My lower cal days tend to be in the 1500 calorie range. Not to enable you or anything but a friend of mine in another check in has been having trouble losing weight and just got a GWF. She reported a loss with in a week of having it!

Okay, gotta go. DH and the dog are coming with me for my walk. We are leaving here in a few....

BBL!

Happy Fri"off work"day ! Woo Hoo I'm thrilled for a 3 day weekend.

Have mucho cleaning to do too Diana but no kids here to help ! :( Guess that will up my step count though !

Lori - OK - I can't wait to see if you can limit yourself to 1 CAB tonight. (Just a little challenge for you ! ;)) I'm sure you'll have a great time at the bach party tomorrow. Those are so much fun. Hoping your run fits in well with your day and you get out there before the rain. Though I'd love to go by the higher cal burn count, y'day after only changing my RHR (which was actually at 55 this AM when I woke) it showed about a 2600 cal burn for yesterday. That is with 60 min of running and 25 min of leg weightwork. If that is true I surely don't understand why the weight isn't dripping off with my sweat ! :p Such a puzzle that needs to be figured out quickly as I refuse to buy larger pants ! Does Canada have a celebration for their "Canada Day" similar to our 4th of July?

Diana - I have to say for me, after doing STS and gaining so much strength, the other Cathe weight DVD's are still tough and leaving me with major DOMS. I'm doing one part per day, did S&H last week, PUB/PLB this week (2X through since there is only on exercise for the UB) and I have been very sore every day. Am using Cathe's lbs or heavier and though I feel like I should be "stronger" than I am feeling, I just decided that the short heavy lifts are just a different way of training and DOMS of any kind are good in my book. It accomplishes what I set out to do, build/maintain muscle so I'm OK with it. I do think the heat & humidity can really make a workout harder as your body is busy trying to keep cool and can only do so much you know ! ;) And some days are just better than others depending on sleep and nutrition and stress ! I love 30day Shred ! Like Wendy I use heavier weights, but sometimes even light ones get the sweat dripping. You can adjust the workout to make it more even to your level - a complete sweatfest for me. I still have a couple of other BL vids I haven't opened yet. Am thinking I may try one next week.

Ran into Angie on the OD forums - she "accused me" of putting a hex on the Red Wings ! LOL ! Told her to drop by and let us know "what's up".

Wendy - I think it was so nice of you to let DS stay for ice cream. He will remember those things when he gets older. And sounds like it gave you a great reason to have a drink before heading home - even though you may say it was to avoid the traffic ! :p Hope you enjoyed your walk with DH & DD (darling dog) and wonder which workout you will choose. So tell me a little about Jari vs Cathe. Other than TaeBo and now BL's, I don't have anything other than Cathe. And I must say I am really thinking about GWF if I can't figure this out anyother way. I really need to get blood work done too just to see if there is an issue there. I think age does make a difference sometimes, but as I read a few of the fitness books out they keep saying you can keep your metabolism from dropping by exercising and eating right. Which includes weights. Now I think I must be more fit than a few years ago when my RHR was near 80, and this AM it was 55, but that would be assuming it isn't something else going on. The BMR calculators I have found put me about 1280 - 1290 - due to the age I think.

I get tired of logging my food and being 100% clean at less than 1500 cals for more than a week or so and it just seems strange that one meal out (and I don't eat crap, I mean like sushi the other night) will chalk up a couple lbs. that stick until I work out really hard or go to 1200 cal days for at least 3 - 4 days. Doesn't seem logical, but perhaps that is just what I will have to do forever on out? :(:confused: Also thought about getting a metabolic workup - there is one in a couple weeks up in San Jose. Thinking about that too in hopes it may answer my daily caloric burn. Wish I had a little more time in the day to take care of personal issues rather than working and working out in order to keep from gaining any more. But I will survive and succeed ! It just may take a little time - or a GWF ! :p

Off to pay bills, Clean Max, take a run (you with me on that one Diana?) and have a little homework from work.

Hey Chicas,

I ran 4.5 miles this morning. It was pretty pathetic but I'm not getting down on myself. It was very humid this morning and I was soaking wet when I got home. I also opened 30 day shred and did level1. I only used 3 & 5# db's since I had no idea what was coming. I can obviously lift much more and will do so next time. I did notice we didn't do any tricep work, hopefully she hits that muscle group in level2 or 3.

The A/C guy needed to get a part so we are still only running it for short periods of time. My meeting with the nutrition consultant is on Sunday morning. I think she will be giving me the "nutrition plan" to follow and schedule my weigh-ins.

Talked to my step-mom the other day. I try to call weekly or bi-weekly just to check in with her and see how she is doing. My parents have 2 time share Condo's in the mountains that my family has been going to for 20 years. She doesn't want them anymore and basically offered to give it to DH and I. We would have to go through a closing and pay closing costs only and take over the maintenance fees. DH and I are seriously looking into it. I'm not sure what my sister or brother will think, but neither one of them are in the position to pay the yearly mtnce fees on two units. Of course I told DH I would expect my sister and brother to able to use them rent free. My parents never charged us when we used them and I would feel like I was taking advantage of them if I charged them. Other than that, we could rent them out during ski season and make more than enough money to cover our expenses.:)

Jacque-I wore my garmin this morning and was average of 5.6 mph and max of 7.1 mph. It also said I burned 592 calories and ran a 10:42 mile (which is very slow). Of course I couldn't remember how to update the personal settings with my weight gain so the stats will be off a bit. Once I got home I got out my book and updated the settings appropriately. Personally I am glad the Red Wings didn't take the cup again. They've won enough, time to give some other teams a chance!

Wendy-I struggled through bootcamp class last night, it was very humid which is not common around here. You can read about on yesterday's thread. I did like 30 day shred and will probably use it again. I also have 2 10 min solution dvd's that have the wrapper on them. I know one is kettlebells, can't remember what the other one was. It was so considerate of you to let DS stay at camp to enjoy his ice cream. We always sacrifice for our kids, they are so worth it. I'm seriously considering the GWF for my birthday in September. It should be affordable at that time.

Have a great day ladies!

Good Afternoon Peeps.

DH, the dog and myself got our 3 mile walk in this morning around 10 am. I finished my Cathe work out about 30 minutes ago. I opted for a circuit work out and chose High Step Challenge leaving out the core/ab work. I kindly told Cathe where she could put her core work after she kicked my ass all over the place with the rest of that work out! :p:D 'Sides, I worked my core hard two days in a row just recently. It needed the break. ;)

Steps are up there already at 9500 and it's only 3pm. Go me! :D I cleaned the house for a while in between the walk and doing HSC so I'm sure that helped the step count a bit.

Now I have to wash the stink off and start thinking about getting ready for the wedding tonight. DH went out and bought a new dress shirt while I was exercising so now I get to iron it for him. Did I ever tell you how much I despise ironing!? My iron only gets used maybe 2-3 times a year...probably less actually! I use the dryer whenever possible! :p

That's all for now...I'll catch up with personals later if I have time before we head out. If not, I'm good for 'em in the morning!

Toodles babes! :)

Hey Girlies...

I'm so excited...I got myself some new KB's today. I only had a 20#, but I picked up a 15#, 25# and 30# KB on sale and used a coupon at Sports Authority. I also bought DH some blu-ray dvd's at 50% off. Last on my agenda was some yard and gardening stuff. I think I've spent our limit for the month.

Wendy-nice job getting in your steps and the Cathe workout! Have fun at the wedding tonight.

Hello ladies!

I opted against the race today, mostly because it wasn't until 5:30 and I just didn't feel like waiting all day to get a workout in. I had other things I had to get done, so I hopped on the treadmill this morning for a nice long run (at least in my book). I ran five miles in 57 minutes, and burned about 550 cals according to the GWF. I'm cool with that. I got in about 9k steps there, and I'm currently at 12,928 for the day so far. We still have to walk uptown for the fireworks later which should log me another 1000 or so.

Lori: What did you decide on for a workout today? Did you manage to get your run in?

Diana: Your run sounds like a goodie to me! So the times share sounds like a great deal. I say go for it! How nice to have a pre-planned vacation place every year. Congrats on the shiny new bells!!

Wendy: Hope you have fun at the wedding tonight! Wow, I had no idea those Smirnoff Ices had so many cals. I've been drinking Mike's Hard Lemonade Lights for 98 cals, or the Light Twisted Teas for 128 cals. They're both pretty tasty and perfect for summer (if it ever gets here.) I was a little intimidated by the race today, not because of the route, but because the race is run mostly by men, according to last year's results. I really didn't want to be the one bringing up the rear  I've run several races in the past and have always had fun, but they're usually larger, like 1000 runners or so, and this one had a turnout of 50 last year. I watched them as they ran by my house tonight and I'd estimate about 75 runners tonight. While that should probably be less intimidating, it's moreso for me. People would actually be able to tell how poorly I was doing because I wouldn't be able to get lost in the crowd ;)

Jacque: The GWF does seem to know when you're sleeping, running, walking and sitting. I'm not totally clear on the science behind the whole thing, but it has something to do with the accelerometer measuring motion on multiple axis. And then I suppose it combines that with the other data to determine what you're doing at a certain time. For instance, when I lie down to go to sleep and it takes me a half hour to fall asleep, it shows that in a lighter coolor on the graph as "lying down" and then when I'm asleep, it picks up on that and shows it as a darker color and "sleeping". It's pretty cool. It must register my position and then gauge skin temp or something to determine when I was awake and lying down and when I was asleep. It's really an amazing little gadget.

So we're heading out to fireworks soon, and DSO is looking for some attention. Will probably not "see" you girls til the a.m. Have a great night!

Jen

Back to report I skipped the weights today - will do tris and shoulders tomorrow AM but did go for an outdoor run this afternoon. It was u g l y . . . went "backwards" from my usual loop so I'd have a very steep but shorter hill to run since it is warm here today, but dang if my legs weren't like lead and the sweat was just a drippin' within about 10 min. Then I get a stitch all the way across my belly !, walk a bit and start running again. Not much of a slope just a bit uphill for a while and my "bad ankle" (torn ligaments in JC) was aching something horrible like I stepped on it wrong. Usually goes away but decided to stick with me the whole way home. About halfway through the stitch finally left (TGoodness) but man I was tired. Even got chilled in the shade when the breeze would come up? WTH? Finally made it home and saw it was 90' outside and I thought it was more like low 80's. Oh well, got a great sweat in there. Saga done !

Diana - I love the condo idea - remember how you wanted to get away with DH? Well . . . ;) And with it already scheduled, that is what gets us outta the house - scheduling ahead of time. :p Hot & humid makes for a difficult run - as you can tell hot did me in today too ! Don't worry about your time - seems you got in a great workout and then did 30 min shred? Way to go ! Congrats on the great deal with the KB's and all else you purchased today. Well it sounds like my HRM is pretty close to what you and Jen are reporting so I guess I'll just use it for now and try to monitor the rest. Started re reading BFFM today as a reminder and will try to pick out some things I can work on to tighten up my #'s. It is all things I know - just need to put into practice and play with. ITA and wanted the Penguins not only because the RW win alot, but because Pittsburgh won the Super Bowl and that way both NFL and NHL won in the same town. Kinda cool. I have no doubt RW will be there again.

Jen - As I was running I was thinking about you and whether you had run the race or not. I so understand how you'd want to "blend in" a little more with a larger group of runners - especially if there are mostly males out there - and probably consistent runners to boot. And that is late. Great job getting your steps in there today. I was up to 3K before I ran and will probably get a bit more in tonight, maybe close to 10K. The run did me in pretty well anyway - I hit the spa but am still exhausted ! Not caring if I hit my goal or not !:p Tomorrow we are going to a large park for some sort of event so I can walk all I want while I "people watch". I'm not even sure what is happening there, just going cuz DH will be BBQing pigs for his boss. Now that you mention the GWF qualities, it does say you have to wear it in a specific spot in a specific way so I guess that make sense on how it is measuring. I'm so on the fence - but paid the bills and am a bit ahead . . . Hmmmmmm. Hope your fireworks were fun and DSO got lots of attention ! ;)

Wendy - well great job on the steps and workout today. Guess you did extra so you could "spend" them at the wedding tonight, huh? Way to think ahead ! :D Hope you had a great time ! LOL about using the dryer in lieu of an iron ! Wish I could do that in the AMs for my work clothes but I don't think the dryer would work well enough. :(

Should have time to check in tomorrow AM. If not, enjoy our country's BDay ladies !
