Happy Saturday ! ! !
Good morning chickies !
Well we have sun this AM for the first time in about a week. It has been getting sunny just before lunch but the birds are out singing early today !
B & G was tough last night - can you remember Disco Inferno? "Burn baby burn" . . . yep, that was my behind last night.
Did start with the pedometer on but it was definitely just sensing motion so I took it off after a bit. Then I thought, well how much effort does it really take to take just one step? If I am doing twisting motions or punching motions, that should be equivalent to a step anyway, right?
So my thinking is that just walking 10K steps gets most people a decent amount of exercise if they are not fanatics like us here.
So that is where the idea of 10K comes in. If we are having a rest day or more sedentary day, keeping track of steps will help us stay moving in order to get a good day's caloric burn in there. When we have a day with a workout or where we are moving lots (shopping, taking the kids to the park and chasing them, running around alot at work, freaking out and running up and down the stairs in our house . . .
) we'll get our caloric burn for the day in there anyway. So I think I'll wear mine during the day, when I am running or walking on the TM, but
not when doing a weight workout, step, kick, KB, etc workout. That would probably count for a good 2K worth of calorie burn. Done with the pedometer talk . . .
Guess for now that is our latest Damage Controller, huh?
Took a look at my credit card payment - need to calculate my other bills and then I'll see if GWF is in the near future for me here . . . It might be what I need to be accountable to myself.
Wendy - LOL about throwing the pedometer in the trash at work y'day ! Glad the new one is working better. Did you go to Sports Authority again? If yes, which one did you pick up this time? Does it work better as far as "motion detection" vs actual steps? Have you used it for a workout?
And ROFLMAO about running up and down the stairs - however, I have said many times that I was in decent shape without working out when I had a two story house (I never pile things at the bottom but always took them upstairs thus creating lots of steps daily) and when I had little ones (because my UB was very toned from picking them up, etc.). So agree that stairs in the house are great workouts - especially for the back end and thighs !
YOU GO GIRL !
Well hope your DB's give you a fun workout today. Which weighted gloves do you have? That was my last workout gear question for you today, promise !
Diana - Thanks for posting the steps for those workouts. My pedo was showing about 130 steps at a jog (5.5 mph) so that is very close. I did count also and seems close enough. Of course it depends on the speed also.
What have you decided to do for a rotation, or are you just doing your classes and winging the rest right now?
I was reading a post on the OD and ended up seeing an article about weight loss while lifting. It was stating the differences between cardio/weight workouts and heavy weights. It may have caused me to rethink my rotation and do a KB with a heavy Total Body and a leg day or a the 2 KB's & leg one week with 2 TB's and a leg the next, then alternating. Have a couple days to think on that one until I start up next week. I do like the FF GRFSummer rotation though. My stomach has flattened a bit already with the adjustments I made. Today is supposed to be Low Max which is a killer after a LB workout like B & G, but I am also thinking I want to run. Perhaps I'll do both ? ? ? That will be a great excuse not to clean the house, right?
Jen - Glad to hear the stitch is recovering. You gonna attempt a workout or stick with the walking this weekend? I think the hills on the TM are a great workout - my HRM shows just as much of a burn doing that as it does running at 6 mph. And then I feel it in the glutes & calves the next day - a winner in my book !
Am happy to report that DBoss decided I needed a coaching session so I can attempt this facilitation between my conflicting/back stabbing coworkers. Perhaps his coaching sessions along with my honesty the other day has turned something around a bit? Not wanting to count on it, but am keeping my fingers crossed. You just may have sent some great vibes to him the other day with your post !
Thanks !
Lori - you being a working girl this weekend or do you get to have some fun? How is DS doing ? Do ya get to hang at home and veg or you got plans?
Laura - not sure if you'll be popping in yet or not, but do share on how you handled your flight woes . . . And of course, how much "cha ching" you took from Vegas last week !
Well ladies, it's toodles for me right now as I head off to clean up the kitchen. Nothing but household chores and gardening on tap for me this weekend. Need to attack my "guest room" (DS2 did not leave it in great shape - I know just what Diana just went through) and DS1 and family look like they will be staying here next weekend. Gives me just the motivation I need !
BBL to check to see "What's Up" with the rest of you . . .
