Damage Control - Return to Reality Monday!!

Hey Girls,

I finally have a workout to report!!! I did my final STS workout this morning. I can honestly say I am so much stronger than when I started. Too bad that's not really a goal of mine. I did bicep curls with 52lbs today and would've never even tried that before. Cardio was CTX Step & Intervals and Power Circuits. I got a little bit of unexpected leg work in there which was a pleasant surprise. Although I've CTX for years, I only do them occasionally and it's like doing a workout for the first time. Finished up with Weights & Plates abs. I ended up using my wheel as the plates didn't slide too well on a few of the exercises.

Time to shower and hit the chores. I'm actually looking forward to getting the chores done since this is really the last day to get them done before leaving on vacation.

Jacque-maybe you could give plyo legs a try. You could always just skip the deadlift and do another hamstring exercise instead. Not to laugh at you and DH's injuries, my DH and I have the same issues many times. I notice these aches & pains much more as I've gotten older. Yes, the weather is cold and rainy. Not fun at all, but plenty of reason to take care of the inside of the house.

Wendy-Your w/o looks great. You must have awesome legs with the kind of w/o's your doing lately! IA w/Jen, may have to copy that for later reference.

Jen-Hope DS feels better soon. I laughed at your justification for the GWF!!! Saved the money for SO's bday trip but didn't go so used the money for yourself. I would totally do that too:p

Time for me to shower and get out of these wet clothes.

Jacque: Part of the reason I decided to go for the GWF was the "upping the calories" debate. I've been doing CLX faithfully and eating 1200 calories on most days, with a higher cal day thrown in once or twice a week. And even my higher cal days are not higher than 1700 calories. It seems logical that I should be losing those last few pounds I'd like to lose. But then I wonder if I'm not moving because my calories are too low, because 1200 is pretty restrictive (and we're not counting this weekend at all in these calculations, mind you :p). However, I do work a desk job, which should result in a lower calorie burn...and blah, blah, blah. These are the mental gymnastics I go through trying to figure out what works. I'm kind of tired of that and I want to know what I burn, dammit, and it seems like the GWF is what's doing the trick for most people. So I took the bait, and I will definitely keep you all posted.

Glad to hear you're having a non-productive, relaxing weekend actually. I think everyone needs weekends like that periodically. Helps you get recharged for the daily chaos of life.

Diana: It sounds like you got great results with STS. Even though the added strength may not be one of your immediate goals, I think it's something that never hurts, and I'll bet you'll notice many benefits in day to day activity. Yeah, I don't want to hang on to any extra cash for too long...burns a whole right in my pocket ;):D

Heya ladies !

Well I did get off the "couch" a bit and cleaned the fridge (soapy water and all) and finished nearly all of my weeds in the veggie garden. Even found a few tomato plants that came up on their own from leftover tomatos last year ! Will see what happens if I just leave them alone for a while.

Still need to go pick up a chicken for dinner soon so may do a little cardio, may not. Only have a few hours left but sometimes like to just keep going once I am on a roll ! LOL !

Diana - great idea about the plyo legs - not sure if the back would hold out for another increase in weight on the squats anyway. Will think about that one tomorrow - the back is feeling OK as I have laid down and iced a few times already. CONGRATS on completing STS - I am thrilled with my strength gains also - now I am waiting to see how long I can keep the strength without pushing really hard . . . LOL about the aches and pains - 'cuz our little "old" fur girl who is nearly 13 moans and groans all the time. It is getting to be quite a giggle as we all move about sometimes ! I don't care at all - am the first to admit that the old bod just doesn't work like it used to. I try to clue the kids in to take care of themselves when they do have pains because it only gets worse. Life is still great IMO though and I wouldn't do anything differently, including lifting heavy with Cathe ! :D

I can't wait for you to take your trip - you are going to have such a blast ! Hope you get all accomplished that you attempt ;)

Jen - I am thinking the same with GWF and you remember I did spend DH's BDay $ so now you need to let me know if I need to "find" some $ elsewhere ! :p

Okie dokie - time to get a move on to the store <<hoping Costco is open>> as I want my big tub of cottage cheese ! Took it for lunch with veggies (tomatos, cucs, onions and radishes) for lunch a few times last week and the scale started creeping downward. Hope I found an easy answer since it is a quick lunch and I love eating it !

Until tomorrow chicquitas ! ;)
