Damage Control - April

Hi Girls

Workout today was Strength, MMA Boxing (punching combos with weighted gloves) and 4DSBC. I may try another run again tonight. DS1 is gone with my in laws for the day so its just the baby and the teenager! Not nearly as much work as DS1! LOL

Diana** I'm not overly fond of swimming, I use to swim once or twice a week a few years back but got out of it. AND I am also not fond of riding bike either...LOL! I am sure you will enjoy the training though!

Morning Glories.

Sorry I never made it here y'day. Ended up not feeling well again in the morning so I went back to bed for a good 2 hours. It finally passed around 11am so I got up and decided to give a work out a try:

BH Totally Ripped Core Bonus (10m), BH Extreme Cardio Challenge's Glute Challenge Bonus (12m), Hula Hoop intervals of 10 @ 15/45 and last but not least STS Extended Stretch.

I was completely fine during the work out and for several hours afterwards! I went out with DS for about 30 mins after lunch so he could ride his bike and then went to the mani/pedi appoinment I had made for 2pm. I was fine until probably just about 5pm...when it came back. UGH! :(:confused:

Today I am supposed to be going to the zoo with DS, my mom and my MIL. Woke up feeling okay and swallowed three advil immediately. I am hoping that keeps it at bay so that I can enjoy the morning since I have to leave here to head to my mom's no later then 9:30. If I still feel okay in a little while I will pick a work out to do before we leave...

Lori:: IDk what's wrong with me but Jen and another Cathlete I correspond with outside of the forums have already asked me if I am possibly pregnant!!:confused: I haven't done MMA Boxing in ages. Need to pull it out some day soon. That's my fave of the 3 MMA's!

Diana:: Glad you enjoyed tri-training! So what work out did you decide on for y'day? I will pass along your message to Jen! :)

Sending major hugs out to you Laura and prayers your friend who passed. Thinking of both of you!
 
Good Morning:)

I am trying to gather up all the things I will need for the net few days while I am at my parents house. Its not easy packing for 3 days! And all the little things kids need:confused: Hopefully I will remember it all!

I feel yesterdays workout! I am so happy that I am back doing pushups on my toes....so my abs are really sore today from that. And my biceps are pretty sore as well. Today is suppose to relief but Im toying with running or something else. Maybe I should run and add in some leg work.

Wendy** Im not sure what kind of bug is on the go but a lot of people around here are sick one day, good the next and then sick again. But wouldn't pregnancy be a jaw dropper!;) Hope you have a good day!

Alright Im gonna put the baby down for a nap and get my butt in gear! I want to get the baby weighed before we leave and I don't want to leave any later then 1:30.

Hey..I did Bob's Totally Ripped Core (full version) this morning. Great one!
Then off to the zoo with DS, mom and MIL I went. Nice day but COLD! DS got his face painted. Check out the pic on FB if you want...

So I pushed myself to do my work out this morning. When I started it I felt yucky. By the time I was done I felt better and felt ok most of the day until sometime this afternoon! Now I'm very tired too which doesn't help. So if I hadn't worked out I probably would have felt bad until around 11am but instead I felt better before 9!!! If I feel yucky in the a.m. I going to the doctor. I'm done with this but happy I decided to work out cause apparently it did me no harm! Go figure!:rolleyes:

Gotta grab food. BBL or tmrw for personals!:cool:
 
Hi Ladies,

I tried to post yesterday but my computer shutdown in the middle of post to update. I need to change that setting so it asks me first instead of just doing it.

The tri training is awesome and I have a lot of work ahead of me. The swimming seems to be the hardest for me so I'm considering taking an adult swim class too. I took one years ago with DS 1 but a refresher would be good.

I should be running this morning but have to be to work early. It's only 4-5 miles and I should be able to do that after work. The trainer gave us our training schedule and it doesn't leave time for much else. I'd like to keep up with some weight training when I can fit it. Not sure when I'm going to be hitting the pool...where I need the most work.

Wendy-BH's workouts are tough. I like the core w/o also. Well tbh, I also was thinking you could be preggers. Hope you feel better soon. I saw Joey's picture on FB, he's adorable.

Lori-hope you are relaxing at your parents!

Good Morning:)

Had a good night last night. The baby only woke once! Could there be a end in sight? He also slept with me, I'm sure that helped to keep him a sleep.

Yesterdays workout was a cardio coach, which I really enjoyed! Haven't done one of those in a few years. Time flew by and then I did the standing leg work of LBB. My abs and bics are still sore from wendesdays workout. It's not very nice here, it's not cold but it's wet....I'm still thinking about running outside though. Even if it's only for 30 mins or so.

Wendy** I'm sure Joey enjoyed his day yesterday. I saw a preview for some new workouts in tv the other day. Of course it was a commercial so everyone who did them had muscles after. Sometimes I wonder about these commercials....no wonder people buy into looking like that in 90 days:confused: That's what I am suppose to look like after insanity! Lol

Diana** I would think any extra training would come in handy. And swimming is is joint friendly! You won't have to worry about injuring yourself!

I will probably bbl. We might run out later but there really isn't anywhere to go!

Good Morning.

Ended up feeling pretty awful last night but this morning was much better then it's been so go figure! :rolleyes: I started my work out at 9am and was done by 10 and no worse for the wear! I did BH Ultimate Cardio Body for 30 mins and Yoga for the Warrior for 30 mins. :)

Heading out in a bit to the foodstore, the bookstore and then swining by the local boardwalk to see if the rides are open for DS as opposed to going back to the park for the third time in a week. :rolleyes: Later tonight I am meeting a couple of girlfriends for drinks. In between that somewhere I am also hoping to get a little housework and some cooking done since dinner is not included in this evening's get together.

Lori:: Glad the little one let mom sleep a bit more last night! I remember wanting DS to in bed with us at times when he was little. DH would never allow it though. On one hand I understood why but OTOH I thought he was being too strict and wished he would have given in just once! So what work out was the infomercial for btw?

Diana:: TY re Joey. :) Glad you enjoyed tri-training! Yeah, swimming is a tough sport but you can do it! I suppose I could be pregnant but I am not even due for TTOM for another couple weeks so we'll see! :eek:

Good Morning

I shouldn't have bragged about my wonderful sleep cause last night wasn't very good. He was up four times. My mom took him around 8 and I decided to go back to sleep but then DS woke me up shortly after I went back to sleep, which made me feel worse. I should have just got up!

I went for a run yesterday, did 11k. I was hoping to go again today but it's snowing...and windy! Not ideal! I might do a insanity workout, run on my sil's tm or wait till I get home. Chances are I will just do something now and get it over with.

Wendy** the commercial was for some kind of MMA boxing....I don't think it was through beach body though. I can see how people buy into it b/c I still have a few pounds to lose and those workouts intrigued me cause I'm thinking, maybe that's all I need! Lol. Meanwhile before baby I would have thought " why do people buy into this stuff"? Although some of these workouts are tough and this one looked to be. Just didnt want to spoon out 4 payments of $40 plus shipping!

Must get my butt moving and start gathering up my things again!

Good Morning Ladies!

So happy for the weekend! DH and I watched Fast Five last, love that movie. We don't have any plans for the weekend, just some routine household stuff and normal errands.

I ended up not working out yesterday after all. GGRR I hope to get in a bike ride this morning. We are supposed to have wind, rain and hail starting this afternoon and turning to snow by tomorrow morning. We've had such nice weather lately too. I may also do weights today. I checked the pool schedule, adult lap swim is several days per week from 5-8am. I'm going to write up a rotation so I can make sure to fit in all aspects of my training each week. I will add in weight training when possible.

Did you all see that Robert Kennedy "tough love bob" passed away? He's the oxygen publisher...married to Tosca Reno.

Lori-It seems like so much work packing up the kids and all their stuff for just a few day visit. I'm sure the kids love spending time with their grandparents though and its a nice break for you. Hope you enjoy your workout, whatever you decide to do. Yeah, we get sucked into those infomercials sometimes. Glad I found Cathe years ago and have gotten much better and not buying into all the infomercials.

Wendy-sounds like you are having fun with Joey. I usually take a few days off over spring break to do things with my kids. Now that they are older I hear how much they liked that. I need to get back to cooking...you haven't been posting any good recipes lately.

Hey Ladies.

Finished Bob's Pure Burn Super Strength a few minutes ago and now I'm shoving food in my face. I am STARVING! What a work out!!!!:eek::eek::eek: I'm still shaking as I type this...:confused:

Diana:: I know-I haven't had much time for cooking lately :( and on saturday's when I would have the time I've been making pizza but I think tonight I will cook something new so I'll keep you posted on it! I promise! I picked up a slow cooker cook book y'day at Barnes and Noble that's all lighter recipes! I'm excited to try one for tmrw's dinner! :D

Lori:: Oh the joys of newborns, huh? ;) There's a new martial arts type work out system out now called XT Tap Out or something like that. Maybe that's the infomercial you saw? I don't even know if they made an informercial. I'm merely taking a shot in the dark. I looked at the website for this set once quickly but I don't need any new work outs so I can't look at it anymore!:eek:
 
Hi Girls,

Returned home yesterday evening and then we went to a friends house for dinner. We didn't get home until late last night. It was fun getting together with them. She has 3 kids, I took 2 of mine , ples our niece was there playing with her daughter. Needless to say there were a few kids....not the most relaxing atmosphere. And times have changed. When we were younger we did our own thing. Kids now are under your feet all the time! If they aren't starring at their iPods then they are lost.

I ended up going for a run yesterday. It cleared up and was quite nice. Still cold but nice. I enjoy getting some sun on my face too:) . I Did something with my foot though. The outside of it hurts. I think my sneakers are junk. Its such a nice day here so I might try to run and see how it feels.

My friend left for Boston yesterday. She's doing the marathon. She is nervous about it and I don't know why. I think she wants to get a good time but might be concerned about injuring herself again. She keeps saying her injury comes from her sneakers, meanwhile she was doing insanity on the same days she was running, cardio coaches, and did 3 marathons in one year. Sounds like she bought bad shoes:rolleyes: Everytime I tell her my workout she pipes up about injuries. I feel like telling her i have better sense. Can you imagine doing a older insanity workout and then a long run? She really injured herself last year when we went away. She was limping even before she ran the 42 k. Anyway....we shall see how she does tomorrow.

Wendy** that's the workouts I'm talking about. I knew it was "tap" something. They looked good but I'd rather buy more lulu :)

Diana** did you get your nasty weather after? I hate when it seems like spring is here and then it snows again!

Good Almost Afternoon Ladies.

This morning's work out::

1) 5 minutes of BM2 warm up not using a step

2) Interval cardio/leg work as follows:

6 rounds @ 10/20 (3 mins total) of burpees (no push ups)
1st weight exercise from BM2 power circuits
6 rounds @ 10/20 (3 mins total) of squat jumps
2nd weight exercise from BM2 power circuits
6 rounds @ 10/20 (3 mins total) of dixie cup line taps
3rd weight exercise from BM2 power circuits
6 rounds @ 10/20 (3 mins total) of jumping lunges
4th weight exercise from BM2 power circuits
*used a 40# bb and 15# db's for weight work*

3) Yoga for the Warrior (43 minutes total @ 30 mins of yoga and 13 mins of stretching)

Di:: Sorry but DH wanted to go out to dinner last night and I let him talk me into it. We went to Texas Roadhouse. :eek: So no new recipe to inspire you but heading to the foodstore in a bit and I'll be making a new crockpot recipe. IDT it can be found online. It's called Sweet n Sour Chicken over Potatoes. If it sounds like something you might be interested it, let me know. It's not online but I can post the recipe here for you if you want.

Lori:: My son is an only child so he was forced into doing his own thing/entertaining himself quite often. We play with him and take him places but often times he plays on his own which is nice. So see? That's where you made your mistake by having more the one! :p;):D Just kidding ofcourse! I actually envy your ability to handle it. I am not cut out for motherhood so one is more then enough for me! :eek: Yeup sounds like your friend's shoes are definitely the problem! ;):rolleyes::confused:

Hi Girls,

I rode my bike 11 miles yesterday. I'm a nervous rider, new to riding on the streets with vehicles but am glad I worked up the nerve to do it. We have a lot of bike lanes in my area but it is still nerve racking being on a bike between 2 cars. The tri-training rotation calls for 2 days each for biking, swimming, running, weight training.

Today will be weight training, leaning towards MM. Who knows, I may give BH weight a try. I also have to work, but I can do it from home. I figured I'd be snowed in today, but now I'm wishing I would've gotten my work done yesterday.

It is cold and very windy today, but we didn't get any snow. The news indicated up to 4 inches by 10am this morning....well it's 10 and all we got last night was rain. I'm so glad I mowed the lawn yesterday! It is supposed to warmup to the 70's by Tuesday but be very windy.

Seriously...you two are a couple of enablers!:p I checked out the TapouT XT workouts and they look amazing. I'm not ordering anymore w/o's until I do P90X2. I was hoping to do X2 rotation during my tri-training but that just isn't possible. Perhaps after the triathlon in June I will give it a shot. I also want to do the original Insanity rotation...too many choices.

Lori-Wow, I think your friend should heed your advice. Insanity and a long run is too much impact for her poor feet on the same day. Definitlely good shoes are in order. You are a busy mom and seem to take everything in stride.

Wendy-thanks for reminding me, I also have a slow cooker cookbook...albeit quite old. I may check out Bob's weight workout that I have downstairs. Hopefully its a full body w/o.

Good Morning:)

I didn't get enough sleep last night. I would have loved to have stay in bed a little longer but it would have been one of those situations where I would have felt worse cause its 8 and I would have only gotten another few minutes. Soooo, I may need two cups of coffee this morning, regardless of the effect it has on the baby:p

Yesterday I did all of the GS UB's and I am soooo sore this morning! OMG, I haven't felt like this in a while. I really pushed myself and used heavy weights. I didn't do any cardio b/c my foot was bothering me. Im not sure what I will do today but chances are it will be just cardio.

Wendy** Sometimes I wonder if I was meant to have children...LOL! To late now! DS1 really pushes us to our limit sometimes. Its a good thing God gave him to us cause not just anyone would have the patience to deal with him. If he had been given to the wrong people, who knows what would have happened to him:eek: I don't know how many times my mom said " its a good thing your not my child...." In the meantime I don't look at myself as someone with a lot of patience but my inlaws keep telling me I do.

Diana** Im not a lover of riding bike and its probably b/c Im a little nervous too and I never dress right. Once you start moving, that wind is usually chilly...no matter what the temp is outside. There also aren't many hills around here and when I rode I never felt like I was getting a good workout.

I guess my friend is getting ready for the marathon! She emailed me last night and said the temp is suppose to be in the 30's! We aren't use to running in that in the summer cause for 1, it doesn't reach the 30's here often and 2, we get our runs over with in the early morning when its warm. I told her to just enjoy the experience. Not everyone can do Boston, or even afford to travel there from here. I think the hotel was pretty expensive as well. She shouldn't be worried about her time b/c its not like she needs a good time to qualify for something else!

I will bbl. I have no big plans today. I think I have training this morning but need to text her. I will come back and report my workout!

I couldn't sleep last night...UGH...to pass the time I was looking at ZWOW and BR workouts to do this week. I have early meetings M-W so short AM workouts will work great for me.

So when I rode on Saturday, I thought I put my Garmin on biking mode. When I plugged it into my computer, it said I ran 11 miles at a 5 something per minute mile...and burned over 1700 calories. I really didn't get it set into biking mode...yep I'm an idiot. I'll have to try that again the next time I ride.

Lori-I love all the GS w/o's, the biceps in this series is awesome. I got a real burn going from MM yesterday, especially the shoulders! You seem to be quite patient as far as I can tell.

Wendy-you've got some killer mish moshes going on...way to work it girl!

Off to workout before I run out of time for even a short one.

Mon - and back to reality!

Hey Ladies ...

we are back from the Bahamas! and I have a COLD!! my throat is KILLING me .. barely have a voice.. and have a slight fever .. of course tummy rebelling from all the food and booze! It turned cold the last day and the wind was howling - a RARE COLD SNAP :confused: ummmmmm I wasnt prepared for how cool it was - the ocean was FREEZING - about 68 degrees - but I did get in and swim - for a SHORT bit!! :p sun was gorgeous except for the one day we planned an excursion .. we canceled b/c the seas were ruff and it rained! so we opted for some gambling and shopping :confused: :p I DID manage to relax and I DID manage to drink my quota :eek: a couple of times :eek: :p:p:p - I did MISS my friends funeral ...I hated that- we had this trip booked since DEC - non refundable - I told to her family and they said GO - that is what she would have wanted - so I did and I made some toast's to her .. she wouldnt have expected less ... I checked in w VBF the day of her funeral - they said it was beautiful - elegant and touching and she would have been pleased!!

I have not had time to catch up .. but read today's posts ..

Di - so you begin your tri training .. GREAT ... ya I would be scared on a bike in traffic too ... heck I worry enough about running .. LOL .. gotta go check out your BR w/o .. see what I have been missing

Wendy - we met several couples for NY .. that play in AC all the time .. very nice people .. we will have to plan an AC trip and meet ya'll there!!!

Lori - we met several couples from Canada too .. seems there were mostly NY'rs and Canadians there ... the Canadians knew how to party!! :p:p

OK .. so I better jet .. pile of work awaits!! please workout for me girls .. hate to see what all the sugary drinks do to my waistline.. .:eek:..as soon as I feel better I gotta do some MAJOR damage control!!!! :cool:

Hi Girls

Waiting for DH to come home from work. He is in charge of BBQ'ing.

My workout this a.m was CC#7 but not all of it. I stopped at 50 mins, it was a good run though.

My friend finished the marathon not that long ago. Im not sure how she feels about her time. She was an hour slower then her other marathons but she had that injury and according to the news, it was brutally hot. I feel for her...but she has it over with now. I am wondering when she will do the next one...LOL.

Laura** So sorry to hear about your friend. She is in a better place now that's forsure. I just looked at your pics on FB....looks like heaven!!!!! Blue water, sand and sun? What's not to love???

Diana** I think I did the same thing with my Garmin once. I also wish it worked inside, just to calculate HR and cals burned. I use to have a HR monitor but I have no clue where it is now and I never really liked what it told me....even if it was the truth! :eek:

Hey Girls.

Just finished my work out. Couldn't get it in this morning. I was figuring on a rest day until DH and DS decided to head to the gym at 4pm. I am crock-potting for dinner so I figured, hey why not get a work out in!? ;) Besides, DH wants to go out of icecream later so I needed to make room! :p

I did 4 mins of hula hoop intervals at 10/50 as my warm up + BH Ultimate Cardio Body (2nd half-30 mins) and finished up with the STS Extended Stretch. :)

Diana:: Y'day's dinner was called sweet n sour chicken over potatoes. It sounded awesome and the flavor of the sauce was good but the chicken was kinda dry and the potatoes were sooo not done that I had to toss them. Needless to say it wasn't very good at all :(...Today's is called hamburger cabbage and potato dinner. It's done and just being kept warm so I tasted it and it had no flavor so I added diced tomatoes, tomatoe paste and some more salt and pepper to it. It's okay now but still nothing to write home about so I have no good recipes to pass on. Sorry. :(

Laura:: I completely forgot you went on vacation! I was getting worried about you cause you hadn't been around! Phew-so relieved there as nothing to worry about! :)

Lori:: Glad you enjoyed cc7. I've done them but could never get into them for some reason. Always preferred ITreads myself. Can't wait to hear your friend's "excuses" for her marathon performance. LOL

Diana:: I ended up doctoring up last night's recipe by adding diced tomatoes and tomato paste (I had no sauce) and it turned out to be pretty good! I served it with crusty bread and butter and it was yummy. If I knew what other spice to add to give it a hint more flavor it would've been fantastic but I wasn't sure. We decided that it's worth making again and I will play around with flavoring it next time so if you want the recipe, let me know. It's very simple-cabbage, ground beef, potatoes, salt, pepper, water. :)

Hi Ladies,

Another short workout for me this morning. I wrote down 2 BR's and will select one when I get downstairs.

I should hear something this week regarding the job I applied for. I still have mixed feelings about it, but there really isn't any opportunity in my department for me. One of my teammates is the one getting all the opportunities, very frustrating. It's the one with no degree, no previous experience etc...but she came on as an admin assistant to our VP and he really likes her. She gets all the training and prime assignments, and to top it off she is a very nice person.

Wendy-I hate when my recipes don't turn out. So much effort to try something new, gather the ingredients and have it not turn out...or have the family not like it.

Lori-I saw on the news they were telling runners not to push for a PR due to the heat at the Boston mary.

Laura-your vacation looked fabulous! The pool, beaches and CABs...oh my!!
