Happy New Year Ladies!
Siobhan - you got your wish, I am back, this time with a w/o!
I took the past 3 weeks to rest (no workouts at all!!!) as I was instructed by my physio. I was under the impression that my more relaxed body was less susceptible to the viruses going around, but I may have been wrong. Friday night I started with a super sore throat and bad headache which was crappy timing as I was driving home from Denmark yesterday, stopping in Germany to drop off my son at his dad's.
Yesterday was a super long day driving. We left at 09.15 and I arrived home at 23.35! There was a huge accident on the highway in Germany close to the Dutch border so the road got closed down with us on it. So many police cars and ambulances kept arriving, even an hour after we got jammed. Part of me started worrying about terrorist attacks etc. but then we saw those big building lights lighting up the highway helping the troops there. Scary! I am so greatful that I did not leave 30min earlier or I could have been in the pile up. I have still not found out how bad it was as I do not speak German and English/Dutch searches led to nothing.
After over 3 hours parked on the highway we were given permission to slowly start driving against traffic towards the nearest exit. Those were 3 long hours worried about what was up ahead, and trying to stay warm and awake without using up the car battery or anything. Some people ended up having car trouble due to being stuck there for so long! Once off the highway I had 2.5hrs left to get home and I just made it before the fireworks started. Never doing that again! If I ever get stuck in a jam like that again while alone in the evening, once out of it I will drive to the nearest hotel.
Anyways enough about that horrible evening. I had just had a lovely break spending the holidays with my family and then in another part of Denmark for my son's basketball tournament. We had rented a cottage nearby so we could watch the games and relax. So nice!
I have decided to start back with my workouts today, though starting lighter and building up the intensity and if needed I will go to the trigger point specialist.
Today I did Turbo Barre, which is a new to my Cathe. Very good! I am still glowing from it! And my legs and glutes were definitely shaking, but it felt gr8 to really do a w/o again. I love working out and I swear I was getting aches and pains all over from doing nothing.
Have a lovely New Year's day!
