Yes, 9/11 Anniversary, it's always sad. It seems so like something our of a movie, but it was tragically real. I remember taking my two boys to school one was in first grade and the other in kindergarten. I just returned from taking them to school. Turned on TV watching Regis & Kelly and sat down with a cup of coffee before starting morning chores. Then I saw the first plane hit one tower. I assumed their was a malfunction with the plane that caused that to happen and so close to the airport seemed plausible. Then the other plan appeared and seemed to line itself with the other tower like a kamikaze from WWII. As soon as I saw that before it the tower I realized it terror that this was deliberate and an attack on the US. I urgently called my husband and told him what I saw on live Tv. He told me he heard it was a little Cessna and not a big deal as he'd been told the towers are built to with stand a small plane crash. He then saw images and was worried. I was scared and called the school and informed them I wanted to get my kids from school now. They were oblivious and told be not to worry things are ok and to just pick up kids at regular time. I told them to get my kids and I'll be there to get them immediately. Brought the kids home TV still on covering what happened and all that was still happening Flight 77 and 93. My uncle lived in DC and worked for IRS there. I had no idea how close any of that was to him, but tried to call him with no results they said all lines are busy and to try later. THen TV mentioned phone lines are overwhelmed and to be patient, not likely I just wanted to be sure my uncle was ok. Three days later the phone lines let up and he called me. I was so relieved to talk to him. On 9/11 when DH came home we rushed to Bi-Mart (local store/hardware/sporting goods store) and bought emergency supplies. It was a scary time not sure what was going to happen and just wanting our family and little corner of the world to be safe. My thoughts & prayers were with all the first responders, those who were in the towers and their families. Scary stuff I wish no one to ever witness or experience. Now, 25 years later I can't help but recall all of it. My thoughts & prayers are still with the few survivors, fearless first responders, the families of the victims, God bless them all and God bless America.
Ok, enough of that. Good night/ weekend girls. This is a rest weekend for me
