Daily Check-In Friday January 21

Dutchie42

Cathlete
Afternoon all,

I made a wise choice today: son no.1 told me before school that he wouldn't be running with me today, so I decided to run first thing. The first 3K were grey skies and I had a very strong head wind, NOT fun. Made me slow down to 7min/K. Then I turned right and found shelter from the trees, the sky opened up and the sun came shining through. I just knew there had to be sunshine behind those dark clouds. I fell into my rhythm and picked up speed. I had such a great run that I ran 7K instead of 5K and finished in 46:11min. It almost made me late for my physio appointment. And now, alomst 2PM, wind's picked up even more and beavy rain is coming down.

Bad wheather has been forecast for Sunday, when I have planned for a 14K run: wind gales, snow (a little) and heavy rain again and hail storms. :-( And it's supposed to drop below 0C for a couple of days. I think I'll by myself some cookies, make a large pot of tea and read one of the books that's been on a shelf waiting for me to pick it up.:)

Anyways, still have to find time to do ME.

Wendy, yes my son was at the actual Anne Frank house where she hid from the Nazi's. It's a museum now. I've tried to go myself a couple of times, but every time I get there there are tourists queing (sp.?) around the block. So I've never been yet.

Sandra, yes there are two versions of the Anne Frank diary. The unedited version also speaks of her adolescent feelings and other things you were not supposed to talk about in those days.

Lisa, we do have beautifully scenery, but like most people, you don't notice it until you see it through the eyes of a tourist (or expatriate).

Have a great day,
Dutchie:)

Hi Dutchie!! Your run turned out well. It's always nice when the dark skies clear up. That does sound like nasty weather for your sunday run , although maybe it'll change for the better. I do remember a long training run one winter here, it rained, hailed and snowed. The worst part was my hands froze by the end of the run. YUK! And I know where you are it's alot colder than here in Calif!

I do remember in school reading the Anne Frank diary. I know my memeory had faded a bit...x(

If time lets me this morning I'm doing one of my favortie P90X workouts, Shoulders and Arms and then a 5 mile run.

Have a great day ladies...:)...Carole

Hi Dutchie, Carole, and Everyone else,

This morning was SuperSets. It felt like I was doing a new workout since I hadn't done it in so long. I think I'll try to do BodyMax on Sunday so my muscles really feel worked this week.

Dutchie - Nice run. Your Sunday plans sound wonderful. I would love to see the Anne Frank house. I just can't imagine what that family, and many others, went through. It would definitely make me realize how lucky I am.

Carole- watching any football this weekend?;) DH has a basketball game Sunday evening and I usually go- but watching the big game may be more important.:)

Enjoy your workouts everyone.

Off to work...
Wendy

Yes Wendy....watching Football. I am wanting the Steelers, but like your DH said I am not sure anyone can beat the Pats! I think the Eagles will beat the Falcons though....:)...Carole

Morning Everyone,

I will be doing ME today. We are waiting for the snow to hit us later today. We are suppose to be getting 6-9" of the white stuff. I will believe it when I see it falling down. I never believe weather people anymore. :7

Carole, I picked the Steelers to go all the way. I even picked them over my Packers. Should be a great Sunday for watching the games.

Hope everyone has a great Friday! And happy exercising.

Hi good morning everybody. Today is cardio of choice. I am going to try the Judy mish mosh. Here is the mish mosh if you want to try it:

my own mish/mosh kickbox combinations:

Warm up and cardio only of BC, then Kick box only of BC, then starting at about 28:00 in Cardio Kicks to end. (where the "power-hop" segment begins). finish w/ stretch of CK and 5" x-tra str.

This mish/mosh has 3 rounds of sequential power kicks and 3 rounds of ice breakers!!!

Dutchie a book, cookies and tea. It sounds great . Enjoy. Carole I have read the Anna Frank diary but I did know nothing about two versions.Hi Wendy don't talk about new workouts because you remenber me we don't have the shipment date of hardcore. Laurie Mac enjoy ME. It is a great workout. Have a great weekend everybody.

Good morning!

This morning I did Rhythmic Step and All-Step abs. Great workout; no complaints :) (Well, okay one complaint: I hate ab work that is all crunches. All-Step is tolerable, but give me the IS core work anyday).

Laurie Mac - I agree with you about the MIC hi/lo. Not my idea of "fun", either. How did your tooth grinding go? That sounds a bit painful!

Sandy - I'm hoping you have good workout-energy today! Maybe if you keep your expectations low and pick something really easy, you might surprise yourself and want to do more?

Wendybdh - LOL! Seriously?? THAT'S what TCYOF taught you? That your temp is not the same every day?? I give up!! :) SuperSets is fun, hey? I have to admit that I'm not fond of doing the preacher curls over the ball like that; it makes it hard to breathe. Do you find that, or should I be lowering my weight a bit?

Carole and Wendybdh - admit it; you only enjoy watching football because the mens' butts look so good in those pants :) Too bad hockey has so much padding, otherwise I'd probably watch it more.

Lisa - oh, I said "bonus points" not "brownie points." All brownies are kept to myself; no sharing, thank you very much! The ability to meditate is something you have to learn, isn't it? I've attempted it in the past, and just can't get settled into it. I think I've read that moving into a meditative state actually takes practice. So I suppose it would do me some good to figure out how to put my thoughts on pause for a while. But that's hard to do when you have a "to-do" list that grows in length faster than you can cross off the "done" list. I do yoga every day, and that really helps with the destress. I find I always feel most anxious right at bedtime. That's the time of day when I realize how much didn't get done, and by then I'm so tired I just can't imagine where I'll get the energy to do more work the next day, and then I get stressed and frustrated. The pg hormones are accentuating all my emotions, so it's not surprising that the night time anxiety went into overdrive. However, I think the problem has been solved; I'll let you know after I make a phone call this morning :)

Susan - So you are very familiar with TCYOF then! I'm thrilled to hear it worked so well for you, too! A little bit of knowledge goes a long way, hey? One year my DH's work decided to postpone the Xmas party until the new year, and it finally happened.......in July.

Dutchie - I love a blowy, stormy day; but then, I'm not running in it! Regarding Anne's Diary, I read in the newspaper a couple of years ago that there are even more parts that have never been published. They were personal notes about her parent's relationship. A relative (I think?) decided that was too personal for the world to see, and removed the pages before publication. They have since come to to light (relative died?), and another version may get published that includes them. Have you heard all this, or am I way off base?

Mariangeles - even not pregnant, I would have zero desire to do that mish mosh LOL! That just sounds brutal. I guess I don't like kickboxing that much, to want to do three rounds each of power kicks and ice breakers. It sounds right up your alley, though, so have a great workout!

Have a great workout everyone!
Sandra

Good Morning everyone!

I am sooo happy that is FINALLY friday!:D
This week at work has been torture! I just haven't felt like doing anything at all and it doesn't help that my sleep has been off so I have been tired every day as well.

Well, I guess because I was tired my plan to do Power Max went out the window last night. lol I decided to take it easy so I did Basic Step on 4" and called it quits. Hopefully tonight I will have more "oomph" in me. I believe tonight is a cardio/lower body night. I think I have the basic step's lower body add on penciled in along with 30 to 60 minutes of cardio(cathe or gazelle or a combo of the 2).

Enjoy the snow! lol

Have a great work out!

~Wendy~

Hello everyone,

Today is my scheduled rest day.

I read Anne Frank, heart-wrenching:-( Speaking of books, I'm currently reading "Kite Runner"....about Afganistan (sp?), the Russian invasion, the taliban and of course the personal story of the characters....it also is just heart-wrenching:-( We who live in 'first world countries' just aren't thankful enough....Most of us are so far removed from what actually happens 'out there' it just doesn't seem real...it just doesn't make sense that such autrocities occur. OOps! I'm rambling....when I finished reading last night I just began to question the sanity of humanityx(

On to lighter things:)

Sandra, meditation does take practice; well worth it:)

Carole and Dutchie....I just have to say "Wow!"... Running in those conditions:eek: :7

Everyone enjoy your Friday

>Sandra, meditation does take practice; well worth it:)

Hi again Lisa,

Well, one phone call just took care of my problems in one fell swoop; no meditation necessary anymore! I quit my thesis. I'm done. On to better things; I'M FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

Sandra
-currently the happiest person on the planet

Sandra, I didn't mean that TCOYF ONLY taught me that. I also learned why it's not the same everyday and so many other things that I just don't have enough time to write them all down:)

Wendy

Hi everyone!

Happy Friday:7 I think I am going to try out all the CTX workouts sequentially so whatever is the first workout on the first disc is what I am doing today. I hope that massage helped to bring me back some energy;) My shoulders haven't felt this light in such a LONG time; I really want to try to get in one good massage a month especially after all those Cathe workouts!!

Sandra, I am feeling better today so I"m keeping my fingers crossed:) I know the CTX workouts are supposed to be amazing and I'm sure they are but surely there was better music around in 2000??!!!! I read the diary of Anne Frank too of course but wasn't aware there were 2 versions...I went to Catholic school too so you know which version I read! I would love to read the unedited version. That book will stay with me forever; you cannot help but become that affected by it.

Mariangeles, OMG that is insane even for you!! LOL:7 :7 Have fun with it:D !!

Dutchie, I would LOVE to visit Holland one day , it always seems so incredibly beautiful on the travel channel:7

Oh Lisa yes I agree I often question the sanity of humanity as well...I am so with you on that one. Unfortunately for every place we attempt to help there is another that is left to commit whatever atrocity they feel like. We really are truly lucky in every sense of the word. True there is much to complain about but there is also much to be grateful for.

Jes, where are you????? We miss you!! I hope your migraines are under control until you see the dr........please let us know you are ok!! We are worriedx( :-(

Ok ladies, this workout will sound lame but at least I did something. My feet were aching something fierce during what I did so that is why I stopped short. I did RS warm up, 1st combo and cooldown. Then because I felt sooo bad for not doing a full workout I did the 8 min. taebo (which is really 11 min.) through twice.:D My 8 yo son tried to do it with me, he was soo cute trying. :7 I don't understand how my feet can tolerate the kickboxing workouts but not the step workouts. My feet felt soo fatigued just in the little bit of stepping that I did today to the point that I couldn't push myself to try another combo. Does anybody else have this problem? :+

I still haven't started either and I am on day 42 now.:( Maybe my energy level is just bottoming out due to stressing about my cycle. But really I don't consciously think about it, but I could be sub-consciously thinking about it I guess.:+ :(

We are expecting snow tomorrow. Hope you all have a great workout!!:7

WHAT'S UP LADIES???!!!!

Great workouts!

i have been going crazy not being able to get online. but i think it's finally fixed. i din't realize how addicted i am to this site! i sufferd major withdrawls! x( so i woke up today and did not have a headache. so far, so good. i wanted to hurry up and workout incase it came back, plus i needed to cathc up since i have been comatose for 2 1/2 days. so, i did all of C/W, kpc cardio conditioning premix, BF lower body add on, and KPC and C/W abs. it felt great to sweat!!! now that i am getting to report my workout to my wonderful support group, i feel my day is complete. i just finished washing my car and i might paint this weekend. my doc appt is Mon am and even if my head doesn't hurt all weekend i am going to go. it's good to be back!!!
