Afternoon ladies,

We just finished our 14K run. It was fabulous! We were very lucky, cause we set out with the sun in a clear blue sky and a cold but mild wind. During our run the wind picked up, dark clouds came in and we could literally feel the temperature drop. Snow, stormy winds and hail is forecast for this afternoon, but were already back in the warmth of our house. I got myself this very expensive Polar HRM for runners as a Xmas present and it tells me the distance I've run, so we were able to run where we wanted, including running through a part of the forest on soggy ground, simply turning left and right whenever we felt like it, or to avoid the increasingly stronger wind:)

Son no.1 was in a bad mood when we started our run (adolescents, just can't control their mood swings, sigh). But within a few minutes he smiled again and he was as happy as always:)

Anyways, I'm off for a hot bath and then have tea with a friend. And when I get back, I still have S&H Back&Biceps left to do. And maybe a relaxing yogazone w/o.

Enjoy this snowy day ladies (saw on the news the wheather is really bad in eastern US?).

Good morning Mariangeles and Dutchie. Mariangeles, I know its getting closer for Hardcore...just getting impatient!!

Dutchie...I am so glad the weather held out for you. I have a few Polar Heart Rate monitors but use a Timex watch that has the GPS tracking feature which is abosultely great when running trails that aren't marked. Nice to know running can even help no 1 son's mood!! :+

I am doing an 18 mile run on trails with a good friend who is 59 and runs me into the ground!! She is crazy...but quite fun. Then of course watching Football (yes Sandra, for the butts..:)...) Looks like the weather is nasty in Philly. Really hoping the Steelers can pull off a win... :D

Have a great day ladies...:)...Carole

Good morning!

This morning I gave a prenatal yoga video a try, just for something different. It was FitMama's yoga, or something like that, with Rainbow Something-or-Other. 45 minutes long, and not overly strenuous, but a very good stretch for the lower body. She really neglects the upper body, so I had to add on my own stuff at the end. I'll do it again because it's a nice change of pace, and she switches between the moves at a nice pace for letting blood pressure adjust (a problem during pregnancy). I'm not thrilled with her personality, but I'll get used to it, I imagine.

So the football game is still on for today, is it? DH was wondering, so I obligingly hopped on to these forums to find out. You guys seem to know everything :)

Have a good Sunday!
Sandra

Good morning folks! I've been silent for the last three days because I haven't worked out. :-( The ankle and the tailbone have been bothering me a lot (they seem to have kinda relapsed around Thursday) and I've felt, VERY reluctantly, that I needed to make myself back off and take it easy. I have no idea why UB or abs would be bothersome, but apparently I was overdoing it somehow. Yuck. Fortunately things around the house have been very busy (dinner party on Thursday night, homecoming dance for my boys' high school last night and 25 teens here for an after-party). So I've been distracted. But man, I feel like jello and SO frustrated.

On the plus side, I am really enjoying reading about all of your workouts every day, and you're keeping me motivated to get back into it ASAP. Keep up the good work and I'll keep you posted on my old creaky self!

Hi everyone,

Mariángeles-thanks, I am so excited.

Carole and Dutchie-it's funny that you mention heart rate monitors because I need to find one soon. Is Polar a good brand?

Sandra- I'm sure your DH really had to twist your arm to get online and find out about football;)

Kathy- where do you live? Where I live (Illinois) homecoming dances are usually in early fall. Interesting. Have a great time and hope you are feeling 100% soon.
Well, I have no excuse not to exercise today...we are certainly snowed in for the day!

Wendymin - how do you like the Cardio Hits workouts? That's one I don't have yet but it sounds like it will be good for pregnancy.

Jes - So glad to hear you're feeling better and tell your DH to get better soon. That SB/SJP premix is alot of fun. Be prepared for the sweat to fly!!

Well, I'm going to do some Christi Taylor Solid Gold Step and PUB abs then watch me some football:)

Have a great day, Wendy

Hi all,

Great workouts everyone! I'm jealous wish I could get a workout in but SHOVEL MAX seems to be on the menu for today........ughhhhh, I spent 2 hours out there trying to shovel my car plus help with the other family cars and it's frustrating because it feels like you get nowhere fast. I am in a VERY cranky mood at the moment, not happy at all. Today I am starting my summer mantra, "80degrees and sunny"......eventually we will get there again. I have to remember this too will pass. We must have gotten almost a good 2 feet.....what a nightmare. Can anyone tell I hate the snow????}( }( x( I would give my right arm to trade places with someone in 70 degree weather.......did you hear that Jes???? LOL! By the way thank goodness I never did upper body split last night, there is no way I would have been able to shovel today! Oh well, time to go back out there and fight with the snow........

Have a great sunday!

Hi Wendy.

So far I have only tried Power Max and I like it. I have only done it NO impact (with no risers) because I was pregnant when I bought it. It makes me sweat regardless and I found it very easy to modify. I can't wait until I no longer have to modify though! I think it'll be a lot of fun to really get into!

Have a great work out!

RE: Daily check-in 23/1/2005!

Wendy...Polar is the only brand I'll buy...:)... www.polarusa.com

Jes...I'm glad your migraines have been gone for a few days. I hope it keeps up!

You preggie girls are doing some awesome workouts!!!:+ You amaze me...

I thought maybe on my run today I'd get some non-hill running...OMG....we did about 17.3 miles and I think maybe 2 miles might have been not hilly!! I did say to myself...."Yes, Carole this is good for you"...off to watch more football....:)...Carole

Hi again!

I've just attempted to dismantle my office. This is going to be a big, big job and I have decided that I need to do it in small amounts daily for the next week or so. I don't have the stamina to do all this at once. So, I'm finished for today. My name is not Jes; I can't reinvent my house in a day :)

Kathy S. - I'm so sorry to hear about your injuries!! I know it's hard to let them heal, but in the long run taking a week off will not do any damage; if you try too much too soon, you could end up facing worse injuries, and a much longer recuperation period. Stay strong! Just say "no!" to exercise!!

Wendymin - So, what did you pick?? I'm going to feel the way about the HardCore series, as you do now about PowerMax. I'll be dying to kick it up a notch. It's good to have a post-partum fitness incentive!

Jes - is it possible that the migraine you had last week was your own particular manifestation of the flu bug that Jay now has? How was your killer workout today?

Wendybdh - you seem to be enjoying Christi's workouts? Or are you just having fun learning the choreography? Now that I have more free time, I might put her stuff on in short segments during the day and practice the choreo, so I've got it down better when I am ready to add it to my modified rotations. Happy butt-watching :)

Sandy - oooooooooohhhhh! I don't envy you all that digging! You realize it is mandatory to take frequent hot chocolate breaks (with a large dose of Bailey's to make the job easier).

Have a great day!
Sandra

RE: Daily check-in 23/1/2005!

Hello again! i ended up doing a "mish-mosh" of sorts......i did :

warm up and 1st combo of SB
1st step combo of SJP
hi/lo weights premix of SJP
BC upper body premix
CB Cardio premix

can you tell i was bored today???

Sandy: what a bummer? how long is the snow supposed to last? you an come visit me!!! Do you ever have to travel for your job? i say it's time for a business trip!!! but, it's 38 right now. 70's will be back in a few days.

Sandra: do you need help with your office hon? i don't mind! i love that sort of thing!! my headaches are not a version of what dh has. he has this chest congestion fever thing. i think i might have had a sinus infection. but i was unaware that you could have infected sinuses without the symptoms of congestion. i will ifnd out tomorrow. i am kinda bummed htat my doc is out of town although i think it's great that he is helping with sunami crisis. he is the same doctor that sent me that halarious email i posted about PMS. he is great and my favorite thing about him is that typically i can just call, tell him what's wrong w/ me and he call out a rx. i never have to go in. well not this time dammit. i'll get over it guess.

TTYL!

RE: Daily check-in 23/1/2005!

Good Afternoon everyone! GO STEELERS!!!!

Been an off week for me and hope to get back in the groove this week as I have alot to catch up on. Just got back from Baltimore yesterday afternoon trying to beat the snow...yeah, right..didn't work, but home safe.
For all of you that asked about how Ashley is doing, she still has a fever above 102, and today is the 4th day of it...GEEZ! No menigitis though or anything like that...thank God, but please keep praying for her that this fever would just go away! The bad thing is that I worry and have a tendency to put anything into my mouth to eat. I just wish her fever would break so she can get back to school and I can get a good workout going.
Take care everyone
Charlotte~~
