Good morning!
This morning I did Body Fusion and the BS upper body add-on. I've never done the add-on before. It's a great travel workout - you only need to bring a band and one set of light weights. Cathe should make a travel workout, kind of like SJP, but all hi/lo & kickboxing moves (no step), and the weight work all band and plyo metrics. With the SJP kind of premixes, you could get a lot of variety with very minimal equipment needs.
Katie - that's so cool that you were smiling even after interval 9! Great progress! Does this mean you're ready for Recovery-Time-is-for-Wimps-IMAX3??
Wendy - IMAX2 is a lot of fun, isn't it? The bad news is that the first 5 intervals are the "easier" ones }( Enjoy BC today! Christie's workouts have much more complex choreography than Cathe's workouts. Step Blast choreo is easy by comparison. However, she does not include very much high impact, and no plyo or power moves. Her workouts are fast-paced, complex, and a lot of fun. She cues a bit differently than Cathe does, so learning what she means when she says "L-step", for example, is half the learning curve. You work up a great sweat with her workouts, due to the fast pace, but you don't stress the joints. I'm finding her workouts really suit me well right now, and I don't have to modify any of her moves. She also picks music that I quite like: popular songs that hold up well over the years. Not techno-type stuff. If you're looking for a good workout to start with, I recommend Totally Cool Step. She has a "move master" segment on that dvd where she breaks down the combos really slowly. And of all the step workouts I have of hers, I found it to be the easiest to learn.
Connie - I love your attitude! Yes, any workout is better than none - especially when you're having an off day. Did yesterday's workout give you some more energy?
Foodie Sue - IMAX's warm up is a workout all in itself, isn't it? I really like the combo you put together yesterday. It sounds very challenging!
Jane - Wow!! LawnMax is definitely a great workout! When we move to our new house, I think our lawn is going to be something like 4 feet square; I'll have to cut it with scissors to get the kind of workout you're getting! Keep setting a great example for DD! (And I completely relate to your experience with the TS push ups. You kind of don't expect to have such a hard round of push ups on that dvd, do you?).
Becky - the rare times that I go away for vacation or work-related stuff I typically take with me KPC/LG and BC/ME. I throw in a set of 8 pound weights, and I'm good to go. I also do some running for some varied cardio. As to whether you "should" do planned workouts while on vacation, that's a personal decision. If you think you could benefit from a week of rest, then just go and enjoy yourself. It sounds like your vacation is pretty active.
Emily - so, do you finally get to sit on your new deck with a tall drink this evening? I like those genie-arm taps in LG, but because she does them on a slow count, they're definitely harder to do than in other workouts, where she does them quicker. They're great for teaching balance!
Carole - yes those mirrors do lie, but shouldn't they lie in a *good* way?? Why can't they make me look taller, with thinner thighs? I may give that freestyle approach a try after I have the baby and want to lose the extra weight.
Laurie Mac - Great job on breaking the losing streak!! Go Team Paragon! (I've never come up with a cheer. Writer's block. Sorry :-( )
Laurie - I got your PM! Thank you for that! I'll respond soon!
My DD doesn't have writer's block, though. She is currently writing a book a day! Pretty good for a kid who will turn 5 this month. She takes a bunch of papers from my "old thesis drafts" pile, draws pictures on the clean sides, staples them together, then gives the book to me dictates what she wants written on each page. I write things down verbatim for her, and it is hilarious what she comes up with. Today's book, she tells me, is going to be called "The Girl in the Invisible House."
Well, time to go have a shower and look presentable. Have a great day everyone!
