Hi, my name is Lorrie and I'm a Dachsaholic :7 I know there are lots of Cathe fans who are dog lovers (hooray!) Anyone else addicted to those long low ones? I remember reading in Jai's bio that she had doxies. I'm a member of Florida Dachshund Rescue and I recently launched my own website dedicated to dachshunds: http://www.whatsupdoxdachshundshoppe.com/
If you like looking a dog pictures, check out the 2 photo pages. I've had customers from all over the world email me pictures of their weens and there are lots of funny and silly doxies pictures. It's so wonderful to me how the love of the breed brings people together. And best of all I can raise awareness about rescue. :)

I love your website:+ . We used to have 2 longhaired wieners. OMG they were a handful -- but they brought us so much joy.
 
Good for you that you mention rescue! Over 5 MILLION animals are killed in local shelters every year in the US (many more die as a result of abuse and neglect). It is extremely important to make people aware that they can find many wonderful animals (as well as tons of purebreeds) through rescue if they are willing to wait a while or maybe relax their criteria (i.e. a 1 year-old instead of a puppy, a different color, etc.).

The way this country regards and treats animals is horrific. Ghandi said the way to judge a nation's morals is to look at the way it treats its animals. What does that say about the US?

I have a very lovable "nephew"...an old dachshund and I confess, I am very partial to dachshunds (and I hate when people call them "dash-hounds" !#@#!#$!)

My own fuzzy is also one of my favorite breeds...the dog rescue special. She's a real cutie too.
 
My brother and SIL participate in a doxie rescue in the northeast part of the country. They currently have three. :) Buggers, they are! But very cute.

I'm also a Dachsaholic :) Believe it or not I have visited your website many times and I have it saved in my favorites. I just love all the pictures :)

We have two doxies, Tanner is a 7 yr old mini short hair and Tucker is a 6 month old long hair. We love them to pieces!! Actually Tanner recently had back surgery this past February. If you want to meet them I have quite a few pictures of them in my picturetrail :)

I have to mention that our first doxie baby was Docker, we lost him last April after he ruptured a disc in his back. It was actually the second time. The first time he injured his back he also had back surgery and we were able to enjoy his love for another 3 years. Unfortunately the second time the rupture was too severe and we had to put him down. One of the most hardest days of our lives. We miss him terribly ;(

I'm looking forward to sharing some stories with you. It's so GREAT to meet a fellow doxie lover :D

I'm glad you like the site, thanks for adding it to your favorites! :) I love your picture trail, so adorable! I especially like the photo of them looking out the window, really cute. My Charlie had back surgery in 2003 and he had another episode last October which, thankfully was treated with meds and crate rest. He's recovered wonderfully but the neurosurgeon told us he has many bad spots on his back so I anticipate more problems in the future. Poor Charlie has had a host of major issues since we adopted him but he's come through each time and is a really happy little man.

I'm so sorry to hear about Docker. Are you familiar with the Rainbow Bridge site. I find it comforting. Maybe you can post a memorial to him: http://rainbowsbridge.com/Poem.htm
