CTX or Pure Strength?

I'm new to Cathe, but not to fitness tapes and jogging. I've been doing the wedding video since Jan. 1 and am ready to move ahead. Any opinions on whether I should purchase ctx or the pure strength videos first? Either way I will probably have to modify, but don't want to get in too far over my head and get discouraged. Thanks! Kath

This is a tough one, but I think I'd go for the CTX series. Lots of bang for your buck. Then get the PS series....if you can do the weight work in CTX, you certainly do PS! I like the one body part per day concept.....it's easy to do, and you are less likely to dread working out. I am moving this week, and am still doing my CTX tapes (Kickbox this moring)! Thank you, Cathe for creating these gems!!:D

Well, they're kind of like comparing apples and oranges in terms of content so my question to you is, what are you looking for in a workout? PS is all heavy weight training, no aerobic work. It's a fabulous series, truly.

CTX is a great combination of daily cardio work and strength training just one body part per day, or you can shuffle it around to do more than that if you like. It uses step, kickboxing and hi/lo for cardio and you get one day of just intense leg training with weights.

So, you see what I mean when I ask what you really want? They're both terrific, but they address very different needs and goals.

The CTX series doesn't do alot of breakdowns in the cardio sections and it moves quickly. Iam afraid that you might get discouraged. They are a great series to have for cross-training with different types of cardio and to get a weight workout in. Maybe you should try a couple of Cathe's other cardio tapes first. If you could I would purchase 2 cardio tapes and the PS series or you could get MIS or any other tape that has weight workouts. Or if you feel confident enough go ahead and buy the CTX series. Iam by no means trying to discourage you I just wanted you to know that these tapes move fast and you kinda have to know what you are doing. This was just my opinion.

Good Luck and happy stepping.

Are you more interested in cardio or strength, or both?

PS is known for being one of the slowest, heaviest lifting tapes available, and it's all lifting. There's no cardio in it at all, so you'd have to tack on your own cardio or do it on alternate days.

CTX has a short, but INTENSE cardio section followed by weights for one body part. The weights used here are lighter than on PS, but they go on forever, with hardly any rest!

So, for many people, they find that they build mass and strength with PS, and lean down and gain endurance with CTX. This is a HUGE generalization of course, you won't really know how YOUR BODY will respond till you try it.

CTX cardio does move fast and with little breakdown, but if you don't mind using your rewind button, you can learn it. And it is so versatile - you can mix and match the toning sections, cardio sections, or what-have-you. And the music is SOOO awesome and motivating.

My inclination would be to say get CTX because of its versatility - but really you'll eventually want both :D
have fun!
