Though we started shipping the Cardio Kicks/Circuit Max DVD today, most of you’re anxiously awaiting the new CTX - DVD. As of today, the glass masters have been made, as have the stampers.
Usually, the next step would be to run some sample disc, called “check disc”. These disc would then be sent to us so that we could verify that everything is okay. The problem with this is that DVD 9’s (dual layers) are very rare and most replicator’s only do a couple of production runs per month. If we were to get check disc we would have to wait another 7 to ten days before we could get in on another production run.
We’ve talked to everybody concerned on this project and have decided to skip the check disc and go right into final production. We consider the risk to be minimal and on the plus side this means we should have CTX DVD’s in hand next week. Now, there certainly could be problems that could cause delays, but even with check disc we would have the same delays.
If everything goes as planned the final production run will be done this Wednesday. The disc will then have to be screen printed and then packaged and sent to us. With DVD 9’s problems are to be expected during this final phase. The machine used to make the disc has to be broken down from the more popular DVD 5 setup and switched over to DVD 9 production. Aluminum is used to make DVD 5’s while pure gold is used in DVD 9 production. Problems occur when there are trace amounts of aluminum left over inside the machine. If everything goes fine CTX will be replicated on Wednesday, but it may take a day or two longer if they have problems. The replicator, will of course, take samples and verify the disc contain no missing data. However, until we get the disc back we cannot be 100% sure there are not problems. So keep your fingers crossed and hopefully next week we will start shipping you your CTX order.
