Cross-Training is important!

Katerchen

Four years ago, I added spinning, two years ago, I started to add lap swimming to my video workouts (only in the summer) with some running on the side. Last year I added roping to my workout regime and I just bought myself some inline skates. All those different deciplines are working my body in different ways and I can just recommend it.

Disclaimer: I don't consider being active a chore - being active is nothing but FUN.

I agree completely! I try not to do the same type of cardio more than once a week (though I sometimes can't help doing more kickboxing!).

I prefer kickboxing, but also do step (much less often than I used to, but I'm getting back into it with Low Max), rebounding, gliding, floor cardio , spinning (not for a while).

I also like to vary my weight training ("periodization" is a tried-and-true method for getting better results). I just got off a bout of more core-focuses/functional-fitness workouts, and found that the lighter weights and supposedly "less intense" workouts helped prepare me to tackle the Hardcore Gym Style workouts.
