Don't kill me for posting this here but I think we need to treat ourseleves every once in a while. These are not low fat but are awesome!

Bottom&Top
3/4 c flour
1/2 c butter
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1/3 c cocoa
3 tbsp water
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 chopped nuts

Filling
4 oz cream cheese
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c cherries
1 egg
2 tbsp flour

Icing
1 1/2 c icing sugar
3 tbsp butter
3 tbsp cocoa
2 tbsp hot water
1/2 tsp vanilla
4 oz cream cheese

Bottom and Top:
Cream butter and sugar. Add vanilla. Beat in eggs and water. Add flour and cocoa, fold in nuts. Put 1/2 mixture in greased dish, add filling and place remaining 1/2 batter on top. Swirl or spread evenly. Up to you.

Filling: Beat cream cheese and egg until fluffy. Blend in flour and sugar. Stir in Cherries.

I never bother with the nuts or the cherries.
Bake 350 F. I never set a timer, I just keep on checking it until my toothpick comes out clean.
These are so good. You will thank me...I am sure of it.
Lori:)

Lori,

I can doctor this also to make it lower in fat/sugar. Sounds yummy. You should have seen how fast my mouse clicked on this thread!!!

Lori I hate you! :) naw just kidding but can someone post me a lower fat version? Thanks Lori as I have been thinking of a cheat day...HMMMM

Terri

LOL my mouse clicked here very quickly as well

Terri, I would just replace the sugar with Splenda, the butter with Smart Beat Light (in the tub), and make the cream cheese low fat. I don't know about the flour. I don't know whether you'd need leavening agents if you switched to whole wheat. Can anyone answer that? Do you treat whole wheat flour like plain or self-rising?

ETA - replace with the eggs with egg substitute.

I've substituted white flour with whole wheat pastry flour in some recipes and have had good results.

I use Arrowhead Mills brand.

Hmmm. Whole wheat brownies! Imagine!:) :D

OK...this is the first thread that I clicked on in the morning, and now I am thinking about brownies!!! These do sound delicious and thank you ladies for the conversion to making them a little bit healthier!

Oh, you evil, evil woman!! }( I am doing the no sugar challenge this month, but you know that come Aug 1, I will try this! Can't wait!

About on average how long would you say it takes to bake? When do you start the toothpick test?

Missy

You can usually tell if they still seem a little "jiggly" in the middle. I like baking them at 350, it may be a bit slower but the lady who gave me the recipe baked them at a higher temp and the bottoms were always a bit burned. I just keep a eye on them but you are diffently good for 35- 45 min. Thats when I start the toothpick test. I also like baking them in a glass dish. I just had a pick at one with my coffee.....so yummy!
I know I could have made this a healthier verison but I make them for DH when I make them so he doesn't dig the low fat kind. But I thought you gals might want to change it a bit.
