CRAZY, STRONG & LOVING IT for December

Hi everyone! Today I did Cardio Coach #1 and had an excellent workout. I can't believe the difference of workouts I'm having not using my HR monitor. I'm working harder because I realize I'm not constantly looking at my HR numbers and not constantly pulling the stupid strap around my chest up. I can actually concentrate on my workout and not worry about all that. The only thing I miss is seeing the calories I burn. But other than when I was counting calories, I never used those numbers for anything. So for now, I'm leaving my HR monitor alone. I'm liking it that way!

Workout was 36 minutes and I ran 2.25 miles.
 
Today I did 20 tabatas from Amy Dixon's Breathless then did Kathy Smith's Project YOU's Yoga Flex.

Debbie, I used a HRM years ago, and found the same freeing feeling after I stopped.

Total calories burned= 828? Really? It feels like it should be way more but I definitely feel I did HiiT and Tabata Training so I know that I'll keeping burning calories long after the workout so that's cool, love that. Man, ladies these daily hiiT workouts are every bit of hiit training and will kick your butt, they are intense hard work but fast love that.

Chris- Wow! 20 Tabatas Yikes!! That sounds really tough, but good for you doing it though! Bravo girlfriend, that is awesome!!:D Then nicely done to finish up with yoga stretches, sounds like a stellar workout to me. Great job and way to inspire us:D Now, go have an awesome day you deserve it and btw glad to hear that you will get some time off to rest and try to enjoy things. Debbie- I had a wrist HRM and it quit after a few years of trusty service. I just got used to not wearing one and don't think about it. I know when I did do Cardio Coach workouts I'd stop when he'd say what zone we should be in and check my HR and then right it down for that section or that specific interval on that CC workout. It was alot of stopping, writing stuff down, getting back on the TM pressing play again on my iPod and so forth. I was sort of glad the HRM broke saved me alot of time and I could just focus on the workout it did seem to go faster, loved that.;) Nicely done today on your CC workout and enjoying the freedom of being HRM free and just loving the workout and focusing on that. Belinda- Glad all went well with ENT. Still a bummer about ear infection and sinus stuff hopefully the specialist in January can help with that. Take care and don't over do it on the workouts with an ear infection and sinus issues they do affect it. Get some rest, take care and Merry Christmas!:D

Roxie- hello's and waves. I hope all is well with you. I hope you got a great workout in today or will and hang in there its getting close to Christmas. No workout today. I was going to do legs but my knees are still a bit sore.

Nora - How do you know how many calories you burn with your workouts if you're not using a HR monitor? I always thought you used one because you give us your calorie burns. How do you do that?

Chris - "Freeing" is a great word for how I felt yesterday while doing my CC workout!

Howdy! :)

I just finished up a new workout I got, Amy Dixon's Raise Some Bell. It was 42 minutes of KB cardio and strength/compound moves. I am a bit awkward with the KB, not a lot of experience, so things went slower than Amy. I think I need a smaller bell to keep up with her. (I have a 15 only, I think a 10 would be better to start).

Debbie, hope your knees feel better, I would not do lower body with knee issues either. .... Actually, the other thing I was "hooked on" was my Fitbit. I swear, I wore that thing for over a year! Suddenly I got sick of it. It wasn't really motivating me anymore, it was just giving me the same info day after day. I took it off, and felt FREE again! I dunno, gadgets are nice, but they are annoying after a while, to me.

Belinda, WOW! TTM is a great comeback workout!!!

Nora, Thanks for the nice Christmas wishes! All the same to you, as well. I hope you can find some peace with less worry and enjoy the holiday. ... Awesome job on those HiiTs!!!! You don't do them every day , though, do you? I think "they" say to give 48 hours in between HiiT workouts. I'm sure you know.

Chris- I'm excited to hear about Amy Dixion's Raise some Bell workout. I saw your post yesterday and was interested to hear your thoughts on it. Yes, I always start with a #10 Kettlebell. I'm not that comfortable with KB's so going lower in weight is a good thing. The KB has an entirely different center of gravity than a db and does call on muscles differently. Plus, form is always critical with anything weights but with KB's its even more so. Less is more in weights with KB and focus on form, technique and control. Sometimes even mimic the move without a KB to get the form and your body used to the moves sometimes helps me. Regarding KB's I have a #10, #15, #20, but I use the #10 a lot and sometimes the #15. I only have single KB's they're too expensive for me to have two of each weight. I would suggest getting KB's at Walmart. They have good prices. I think I've even seen a #7 KB there too! Glad you had fun with Amy Dixion's new one. I'd just go a bit slower and use a lighter bell. I have previewed her workout at Collage video and my only criticism was I thought she went a bit too fast for me anyways and that I'd just go slower and use a #10 KB is all. Remember you can always modify any workout including KB's just workout at your own fitness level and be safe that is key. Thanks for the kind comments and Christmas wishes as well. Daily HiiT's has a workout for all seven days. I stacked a few days of them and added on to my other stuff. I really like HiiTs, Tabatas, and Metabolic workouts and daily hiit has lots of variety which is cool. Plus I even found Combat HiiT they have offerings too! I did find that after stacking or doing them three days in a row I felt a bit tired little bit of DOMS which you'd expect but nothing really bad. I think I'll probably stick with one hiiT a day combined with a regular workout and only doing two hiiT a day if the second hiit is a core one plus a regular workout. The core Hiit's are awesome too! I'm reallyn having fun with Daily Hiit and integrating it with other workouts I have on dvd, its fun and makes things exciting and burns major calories!:cool:

Debbie- hi, I don't use a HRM anymore but I do get calorie burns from using the workout manager and using Cathe's workouts in there as or as a guide to what the calorie burns are for what type of workouts. That's how I do it. Cathe has listed in the workout manager for each dvd of hers what the metabolic value is and calorie burn so that's my guide. I just find a workout I want to do that is a non cathe workout and find a workout of cathe's its similar to in intensity and type of workout and that's how I get the metablic value. The Calorie burn depends on the Metabolic Value and lenght of workout. That's it, no big secret. For example, Cathe's Double Wave Pyramid has a metabolic value of 10.0 and is 30 minutes in length. The calories burned using that info is 410. So I just see if for example a shorter insanity workout feels about as tough as that. If tougher I adjust the metabolic value and the calorie burn accordingly. Now to get the workout manager calculate for that since metabolic rate, time,= calorie burn there is some sort of mathematical formula there to do it. I just select dvd, then other, and fill in the fields of info for name of workout, length of workout, and Metabolic value and then the field for calorie burn will calculate that number for me and when I click on the calorie burn field it will put that answer in that field. I hope that wasn't too lengthy and boring of an answer. I hope that answered your question.;) Good call on not working out if your knees are sore, just rest and relax. I did LM Step only and I will do absolutely when the bosses go home and I really need a stretch all the lifting and moving has made my back hurt but thankfully we are done with that.

Nora-sometimes the workout manager way over estimates according to my yr monitor.
