Crazy Strong and Loving It for September 9, 2009

Hi and good morning,

Yesterday I did Total Body stretching, that wasn't a good idea! I didn't forced anything and my back was on fire! I can't wait until tomrrow to get the final results, at least I know what I can do and shouldn't do:rolleyes:

I wll try to go for a longer walk today, I am going crazy! Went with my dogs yesterday, but they started to pull me:( so today I am going alone. DH has to go to work. I still will take it easy.

Hey everyone,

I haven't been checking in much lately. My schedule has changed alot now that school has started. If you all don't mind I think I will just check in a day late. Last night I did S&H Chest and Back. Boy was I shaking on those presses and flys! I am very surprised that this morning I don't feel any doms. I'm doing one of Cathes older rotations - but I can't remember off hand which one it is!

I couldn't sleep for anything this morning so I went ahead and got up shortly after DH left for swim. I did the cardio premix from LIC. Nothing too strenuous. This evening I was planning on S&H legs and either weights/plates abs or the no equipment abs from STS.

Wendy - I don't switch out the risers. I pretty much do all step on 2 risers. I'm so used to it that the last time I tried to lower the step I was tripping all over the place! LOL

Belinda - take care of that back. Just take it easy until you get the results. I know that's hard though - boy do I know!!!

Karen - good job with S&H. I did that one on Saturday. I swear, I do not have a clue how she can be so disciplined to go that slow. I would never in a million years be able to do that without her in front of me counting it out. Even then I sometimes end up ahead of her :eek:

Roxie - good job with your hodge podge of exercises last night. I end up doing that every now and then myself.

Well, I'm back at work today. :( Geez, it sucks that I can't take an entire week off. I really need to get the hell out of here. I've applied to many, many jobs, but haven't received one phone call as of yet. Very frustrating.

Today I did yoga and chose Bryan Kest's Power Yoga Energize. Had a great workout. Some of the poses were really hard for me to do this morning, my body is really tight again.

Belinda - I hope the result is something you can fix. Praying that you will be ok soon. I know all too well what back pain feels like. I sympathize with you.

I am going to do Imax 3 step only if I get back from the hairdressers in time. I wanted to get up this morning but it just didn't happen. I recieved my Kelly Coffey Meyers in the mail last nite so I can't wait to get started on those.

Debbie-we posted at the same time I hate going back to work after vacation. Have you seen my post about 30 min workouts do you think they are just as effective as longer ones?

Roxie - Can't wait to hear your reviews of KCM! You know, regarding your 30-minute question, I think it's always a matter of quality vs quantity anyway. Right now I am either doing 1 muscle group or 2 (max) per day. My weight workouts are running 30-45 minutes depending on the DVD series, and I feel like it's certainly effective. Now regarding calorie burn in 30 minutes - sometimes the weights aren't so high. Like triceps and biceps are always low burners for me. But chest, back, legs are higher.

Are you wanting to get in cardio and weights in 30 mins or just one or the other?

Heather-good question I believe on my wt. day I am going to try and do both, but just from previewing KCMs muscle definition she does the whole body in about 41 mins and there is some cardio factor involved.

If you only have time for a 30 minute workout, then that's fine. I think an hour is what you should shoot for a day, however. What 30 min. workouts are you planning on doing?

I have broken 4ds up into splits b&bis one day cts one day and then lower body one day and then 30 min of cardio on the other days. I plan on doing KCMs 30 min to fitness series but her workouts are about 40mins when all is said and done. one is muscle definition one is cardio and the other is wt work using only your body wt. I also have her kbing one. I was think of doing the timesavers on the gym styles to.

Debbie - I know you've lifted for a good while. How do you rotate between strength and/or muscle building and muscle endurance workouts? Just curious. I've been doing mostly strength since STS (about 2 weeks of circuits and muscle endurance stuff) then back to the S&H, GS, PS, STS rotatio Patti and I put together. I can tell that I am losing some endurance when I do more than 12 reps (of course I am trying to go a great deal heavier with weights now that I know I can). So...I was just curious if you think about that with your own rotations.

I have been doing heavy weight lifting for a while. Probably like 2 years straight. Around March I started doing more endurance type workouts just to shake things up. Now with Meso 2 starting Friday or Monday, I'll start doing heavy training again. Not sure when I'll break from it. I love lifting heavy so that's what I tend to do most.
 
Debbie - thank you. I didn't know if there were any "rules" that lifters tended to follow. Before STS I just thought lifting weights was lifting weights. I didn't really have a strong concept of muscle endurance vs. strength or even muscle building phases. I never really pushed myself to grab the heavier weight each time I did the workout. Even when I did the muscle endurance workouts post-STS, I would reach for the heavier weight and if I went to failure, so be it. I knew I was going heavier rather than taking the easier way out. So I guess doing that, I will continue to see gains either way. (if that makes any sort of sense, my brain is fried today)

Hi girls! Today I started with AbCircuits because I never got abs in yesterday. I also didn't know what to expect, so I wanted them at the beginning of my w/o when I was fresh. I chose weights and plates - really good. I forgot to put my HRM on for this, though. But then I put it on and did KPC - including the ab section. I'm hoping to have some sore abs tomorrow! So for KPC it was 69 min/ 463 calories. I always get a good calorie burn with this one.

Wendy - weights and plates is great isn't it! Did you do that AND the abs from KPC?? Holy cow, you better have some abs by tomorrow huh? ;)

I don't typically workout twice a day. I was just up with enough time to do about 45 mins this morning so I did the step. I just don't ever feel strong enough to do weights (especially legs) in the morning. Since I'm doing legs only and it's not a long one, I'll go ahead and put it to rest today!

I wasn't feeling well last night and today after my MS medication injection so I didn't feel too peppy today, rather lacking energy. I'll be ok tomorrow no worries, its just one of those things. But, it does effect my workouts when it does happen though so I try to fight to finish the workout or do most of it at least.

Here's today's workout as per Cathe's September '09 Rotation, (I should have opted to do the yoga instead of the cardio today, oh well).

Very happy to be done with legs for the week LOL. Went ahead and did S&H legs. I went up in weight again and added an extra set of all exercises except the plie squats. Didn't feel like I had worked too hard until I started trying to do the add-on! Shaky!!

Nora - do you typically feel better to get a workout in? I didn't know if it made it better or worse. You are just freaking amazing to me to keep on keeping on! I'm all whiny about my upper hamstring or ankle... :eek:

I thought I had checked in today! OOOPS!

I did Butts & Guts Premix: Standing Legs & Abs. Kicked my butt! My legs were a little sore from my run on Tuesday. I don't remember doing the ab work too much before, it was all on the Stability Ball... it really was good! Just one move I couldn't do, where you lay stomach down on top of the ball and lean side to side putting your hip totally up in the air! :eek: Not without falling on my head!

You guys did great today, love reading about your workouts.

Karen: I know what you mean about shaking on S&H chest! I did big time too! But weird for me, I didn't get too much DOMS from it..I'll be curious to see if you do.

Heather: LIC is fun! Maybe I'll do that for my cardio on Sat if I can't run , IF I get in a cardio (we're planning a huge birthday bash for family and friends for my 3 September boys' birthdays).

Roxie: The step from IM3 sounds good too! .. You'll have to let us know what you think of your new videos..

Debbie: Yay for Yoga!!! I'm lacking in that dept once again... Is this your "rest" week between STS 1 and 2?

wendy: You did some MAJOR ab work today! :eek:

Nora: Does the exercise make you feel better? i don't know how you motivate yourself, I can't believe you cranked out that cardio and you felt horrid!!!
