Crazy Strong and Loving It for September 22, 2009

Good morning,

Sorry I haven’t checked in since last week. My son called us on Friday, telling us our house got hit by lightning. Rain was coming in from the side and the top of the house. Also the AC was broken; we had to get it fixed yesterday. We had a friend check the house, but he couldn’t figure out where the rain came in. DH and I had to fly to Texas on Sunday; it was too much for my kids to handle. We have a lot of fixing and cleaning to do.

My back is still hurting like hell, all the cleaning isn’t helping. I could have started this tread, but I am too tired. Haven’t worked out since last week, will try to break away tomorrow or the next day. I will check in when I can. I will try to catch up on personals hopefully today.

Hope you all doing ok. See you later.

I got up and did SB this morning. Ran out of time for abs. I think I'll take the opportunity to do a longer ab workout from STS abs this afternoon and a stretch.

My biceps are sore from PS yesterday. Triceps not so much, not yet anyway. I thought I worked pretty hard on both. Went up in weight for all exercises and added some extra for both biceps and triceps.

Tomorrow may end up being my rest day. Things are very stressful at work, and I am running on empty at this point. Getting in yesterday's Imax 2 and today's SB was work!

Belinda - hope you get some rest. Sounds like you need it!

Today was cardio and I chose Kimberly Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing. This is the 2nd time I've done this and honestly, I don't like it. It's boring. I did the kickbox intervals with the body bar intervals. The body bar intervals brought my HR down to almost resting. Weird. And the kickboxing segments only brought my HR up as high as 128 bpm. I skipped the last body bar segment because I ran out of time. Still burned a lot of calories and I guess for an easy day this is a good workout. I like Kimberly, she's a good teacher, but her kickboxing stuff is way easy.

HR STATS
1 hour total
11 minutes below zone
48 minutes in zone
1 minute above zone
409 calories burned

I still can't believe I burned that many calories. This is a good workout if you don't want HIIT.

Belinda - I'm sorry to hear about all that. Are you still in Texas?? I hope you get things worked out and I hope it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Sorry to hear about your back, too. I honestly think you just need to rest it for a few weeks and let it heal. Take it from me, it's the only way to get back on track.

Good Morning,

Not doing so good about getting up early to workout. Tonite is LM step only and some kind of core work. Today I get my first mammogram and let me tell you I am way excited (NOT)! I noticed my planned rest week also coincides with TTOM. I have a DR. appt today to recheck my cholesterol hopefully there is a medication out there that allows me to eat grapefruit.

Belinda-so sorry to hear about your troubles.

Debbie-good workout even though it didn't seem like it.

Heather-way to go with SB sounds like you need a rest week or add in some kind of yoga for stress relief.

Roxie - What is it about the meds and grapefruit? Is it any other fruits? Stinks since you just happen to like it too! As for a rest week, yes, I think I am overdue. I was trying to finish out this 8 week rotation. Next week is the 8th week and I was planning on a rest week after that. I may end up taking it sooner if I don't catch a 2nd (or 3rd) wind. Definitely need to find something to help me decompress that's for sure.

Heather-there is xomething in the grapefruit that interferes with the Lipitor so it is not as effective. Some people like my MIL doesn't pay any attention to that and eats it anyway to me you are just wasting your money.

Good morning, girls -

Gosh, Belinda - what a pain! I'm sorry to hear about your house and that you guys had to fly back to take care of it. That's enough to wear a body out without already having back issues to deal with. I'm sorry.
Debbie - I think that is the workout I just sent back to Netflix. I'd planned on doing it again, but never got around to it. I did not do the body bar segments - I don't have one of those bars. But I did everything else. And I'll tell you what, from all of those side shin blocks and oblique twists, my sides and back were sore (maybe poor form on my part?) for a day or two. It seems my calorie burn was okay, too, although it certainly did not feel like I was working too hard. So I sent her back....moving on to the next DVD....
Yesterday I ended up doing the chest/back/abs exercises from SS and PH. It was a really good workout and it took me about 50 minutes.
I'll get the kids off to school, then I'll have about 1.5 hours until DH gets home to get a workout in.
Hello to Heather and Roxie and all that follow!

Hey Everyone...

I did end up doing STS DISC 4 yesterday (Shoulders, Chest, Biceps). I felt ok doing it. Still not 100% here though. My stomach isn't quite right and I'm more tired/fatigued than usual. I had it in me that I'd go do a short run after doing Yoga Abs today. I did Yoga Abs, didn't feel great. I don't think running/sweating/breathing hard is a good idea quite yet.

Belinda: Oh my gosh! What a crazy thing! How long of a plane ride is it from Germany to Texas?? I bet that was murder on your back , not to mention the cleaning up you're doing. Hope you get some rest soon and back home!

Heather: Yay for SB! You are crazy getting these early am workouts in! ... I think a rest day would be a good thing for you for tons of reasons. Glad the party was nice on Friday for your DH.

Debbie: Sorry you didn't enjoy the workout., At least you did get the calorie burn in. And at least you don't OWN the workout, right?

Roxie: good luck at the mammogram today! Some people hate them, they don't bother me. I think because I compare them to the colonoscopies I have to have, and they are CAKE compared to that. .. Hope you have a good workout tonight! I never realized there was a Step Only Premix from Lowmax...maybe I'll try that later if I feel better... (tempting!)

Wendy: Hope you have a good workout today!

ok, better go of and get some groceries ....

Wendy - I got mine from Netflix too! LOL!!!

Chris - Right, I don't own it. So no money lost there. I hope you feel better soon! Sucks to have stomach problems.

Chris - I won't deny it - Crazy! Trust me, I second guessed getting up this morning for sure. Hope you get to feeling better. Don't overdo it!

Heather

Debbie -well, Mindy Mylrea Kickbutt Bootcamp has a "short wait"....do you have it?!?!? So I moved something else to the top, I forget already what it was...
Chris - yuck on the flu. Is it the piggy one? Glad to see you've been feeling better.

All righty - for today I did CTX All Step and it includes a shoulder workout and abs. Really like this (it's still new to me, I got it on Cathe's weekly discount). I did it until the abs, then went and did SS legs and shoulders, then went back to CTX for abs and stretch. Felt great. It took about 75min and 417 calories. I'm good with that.
Oh, and I picked up Cathe's 2lb gloves yesterday when I was at a sporting goods store looking for soccer stuff! Looking forward to using those soon....
It's beautiful here and we have a soccer game tonight. Maybe I'll squeeze in a zip on my bike! Enjoy your day, ladies....

Speaking of new cardio workouts. What are some of your favs and how do they compare to Cathe's in terms of intensity and calorie burn?

I keep trying Amy Bento's cardio workouts. They're ok, fun, but not high on the intensity scale. In my Netflix queue (with waits of course) I have
  • Tracey Staehle's Steady State Step
  • Patrick Goudeau Step My Way
  • Pam Cosmi Steppin' In Rhythm

Wendy: You made me LOL re: Piggy Flu! ... I don't think it is that one. My son had that in June, and his fevers were HIGH HIGH HIGH and wouldn't come down, he couldn't MOVE. I've been able to move. But classic flu symptoms: fever (101), chills, aches, nasal congestion , queasy stomach. Most symptoms are gone, but I'm so so soooo tired and kind of lightheaded/dizzy still. Ick. Your workout sounds great! I have CTX, but have only done a cardio here or there, never "as is" and not any of the weight stuff.

Heather: I've HEARD that Kelly Coffey Mayer: 30 Minutes to Fitness: Cardio Blast. It has a new step and plyo workout in it, and also a premix. Actually, I've heard SUCH good things about it, I'm going to buy it!

Did LM step only and Shape Abs

Stats:
45 min

144 min hr
169 max hr
309 cals burned.

Shape Abs:

Chris-did you find the premix

Heather-dr. said I could eat grapefruit as long as it isn't at the same time as Lipitor.

Hi girls~;)

Belinda- Sorry to hear about your house troubles, I hope its not anything major to take care of. Hugs, about your back. Just take it easy and try not to over do it on the cleaning. Be nice to your back, ok;)

Debbie- Thanks for doing the compendium for Cardio Coach its awesome. I have Kimberly Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing. She's good but I can handle harder kickboxing. Its a good lighter side type workout for those days.

Ok, I did workout today, but got a very late start on it. I did finish by 9:30 Oregon west coast time, so it still counts.:p

Here's what I did today:

Cardio Coach Vol.1=35 min
Distance= 3.0 Miles
Calories burned= 466
BPM'S=
Wup=123, SS=143, Ch.1= 149,149,152,152,150,152.
S.S= 140, Ch.2=155,154,154,SS=151 Ch.3=156, Cool down= 126
For the majority of the time I was working in the 80% to88% of my Max Heart rate, definitely in the zone. So, I felt good about this one. I did use my Incline on my
Treadmill. My mph was 6.2 and Incline was up to 3%. I did a good paced jog at 5 mph, well good pace for me anyways. This was a fun workout and I feel great!! Love Coach Sean!!

4DS-HIS/Chest/Back=59 Minutes
Calories burned= 573
Boy! do I need to learn this Choreography, LOL!!! I just didn't get it. Oh well I made the effort so that counts.

That's it for me today, or I should say tonight, LOL!! Sleep well ladies and have a great day tomorrow. Seeya at tomorrow's checkin.;)

Hugs!;):)
