Craving carbs today!!

What is going ON here?!?! I've been ravenously craving carbs today (and yesterday). This is really odd since normally when I'm not doing REALLY hard workouts day after day, my appetit decreases and I am in check. Not this week... I'm carb-crazed!! Not the good carbs, but the "naughty" white carbs! Whasssssuuuupppp!?! Oh, my blood tests showed absolutely nothing wrong with my insulin levels, etc.. Help!

Thanks!
Pam

My only advice (cause I'm not doin' so good myself lately...) is to keep it out of the house & drink lots of water. Hang in there.....this too shall pass!:p

Me too!! I caved. I had some chocolate chips and all is well with the world. I think sometimes you have to cave into the cravings so that they don't overpower you and make you binge. :)

All last week I was craving white bread and butter- which I never eat. Guess what time of the month it was about to be?

Oh - I did give in!

If I have an open bag of choc chips it is DANGER! If I have a recipe that doesn't use the whole bag I have to wrap the bag up with several rubberbands and then I put it in the freezer in the garage. By the time I would get it all unwrapped to get to them my fam would discover me and I'd feel like a moron!:p IF they were handy in the pantry I'd nibble all day til they were gone!:mad:

That happens to me also. It seems to happen when I am tired. Anyway I will often indulge for a day--have that bread and butter (tho wholegrain), some chips (other people live in my house) and whatever I feel like eating. That is ONE day and it is over. I can breathe a sigh of relief and go back to salads, quinoa, vegies and fruit. And I gave up feeling guilty over it.

Oh! I'm the same way with things like chocolate chips and M&Ms. I only buy them when I bake, but if there are leftovers, WATCH OUT! I'll nibble a very small handful after lunch, maybe a few before dinner . . . by the time I'm done, I could have eaten a whole candy bar! I'll do that every day until they're gone!

Oh, the evils of chocolate!

This is exactly how I was feeling yesterday.
I drink extra water and if that doesn't work, I reach for the oatmeal. That is the only starchy carb I can trust will not send me on a crazy out of control carb binge.

So, I only caved a small bit 1/2 of a small burritto for lunch and a small quesadilla with low-fat cheese for dinner.

I'm over it today and ready to eat better. Phew! It's interesting because I was a bit tired yesterday- maybe that had something to do with it. Couldn't even workout. Just an carb-craving energy slump day!:p:rolleyes:

Happy Friday!!
Pam

Eat lots of healthy fat or take gymnema sylvestra (otc herbal supplement) may help. Also, you might be fighting a yeast infection or candida which can cause those cravings, its probably not you but rather a parasite in/on your body.

That's when it hits me too, when I'm fatigued and looking for quick fuel. What usually triggers it is one too many calorie deficit days in a row, that and not enough protein with preceding meals.

Don't get me started on how delicious nutella is on Ezekial bread. Or how absolutely decadent dried Mission figs are with a tiny piece of dark chocolate wedged inside, microwaved for 5 seconds, and then dipped in melted dark chocolate. OMG! Heaven.

:D

ITA! I was craving carbs so badly yesterday and I know it was because 1) I hadn't eaten enough protein during the day and 2) I was dog-arse tired and stressed out. I wasn't hungry for dinner, but of course I didn't say no to a bowl of frozen yogurt!! It usually passes in a day.

Janis, those figs sound delicious!! I miss our fig tree :( And Nutella is good on anything, including my finger :D

Most especially on the finger! And between 11 p.m. and midnight - in the pantry with no light on!

The figs are delicious!!! I've stuck a hazelnut in there too - for good measure. Damn good.

Is it just me, or did that sound dirty?
