The British Columbia Supreme Court refuses a bid by women ski jumpers to participate in the 2010 Winter Olympics (in Vancouver). The BC Supreme Court has a very poor reputation -- according to most Canadians. The womens' bid has received lots of publicity here:

It's Not Fair

I will be volunteering at the Ski Jumping Venue during the Olympics. I would love to see the women there, they are just are good if not better than the men. I think it is an American girl (I can't remember her name) but she holds the distance record on the Normal Hill in Whistler. I think VANOC, the IOC and the BC Supreme Court are a bunch of chauvinistic pigs. I am more than willing to do more days of volunteering so they can compete.

cheryl, where did you get the name thumper??? my good friend in high school, her nickname was thumper. we rode horses together. i have not heard anyone else called that. he whole family had odd nicknames, mouse, birdie, beaver, rooster, peewee, to name a few.

The reason for the name is my husband wanted me to get a tatoo of Thumper from Bambi. I almost did it but my husband then started to freak out when I was about to go ahead with it. Maybe one day I will get the tatoo......
