Could you suggest substitutions for running

Cathe:

Thanks for everything!

I don't have a treadmill, and the weather is mighty fickle this time of year when it comes to running outside.

Could you please suggest some substitutions for the different types of runs in your rotations? For example: 30 min. interval run, 45 min. treadmill run, steady state runs, etc. I have been doing my own substitutions, but I would really like to know what you would recommend.

Thanks--it will help a great deal.

Hi Carol! If you can do these runs outdoors that would be my first choice as a substitution. I know the weather is tricky but perhaps one day a week is doable. Next choice, is any cardio equipment you can use (ie: elliptical, bike). If none of those are available, then just substitute one of your regular cardio workouts that you do but choose one that you have done the least for that week so that it is not so redundant. To make it more interval like, you can run up and down your steps in place of sprinting (hopefully you live in a two story home ;-) ) whereever listed in the interval workout.

Hope this helps!

I injured my knee and had to stop running, but I wanted to retain my endurance, so I purchased a spinning bike.

The best piece of equipment I have ever purchased. Especially if you listen with cardio coach or do any of the spinerval dvd's.

I do this with Cathe and Christi's step aerobics as cross training. Also with Cathe's IMAX's and Gin Miller's Intense Moves.

I loved to run, but I do want to walk in my "old age".
